Courtesy of RPGfan. They announced that Wii will also be getting Phantom Brave. For those that haven't heard of it. It's uses similiar characters to Disgaea. But isn't of the Disgaea world.

Here's more

Nippon Ichi Software is working on a Wii-based remake of its PlayStation 2 strategy RPG Phantom Brave. Compared to the 2004 release on Sony Computer Entertainment's last generation platform, the Wii version announced today is set to feature various enhancements including a new scenario and characters.

Yay. I liked Phantom Brave, even though the difficulty curve after the first few chapters was like running into a brick wall, so this again for the Wii should be fun.

Yeah, and unlike Disgaea where your army only went up to 10 characters per battle map. You get to fight with up to 26 characters.

But overall, this would be a great start for Wii.

Yay I get a second chance to play this game because I missed out on it when it was released on the PS2.

You can get a used PS2 copy of this for $10 at Gamestop. At least, I saw one there for that price last weekend.

That's nice for those who missed out on it the first time, but stuff like this just reinforces my concern that the Wii will continue to be a third party port dump.

Look like Plenair(or someone that looks like her) (http://www.siliconera.com/2008/12/12/nippon-ichi-porting-phantom-brave-to-wii-adds-plenair/) will join the cast as an mystery character.

Well hey kenji, look on the brightside :). Wii's version will not just be a port, but it'd be like an extended version. You'd get to see things that weren't present in PS2.

Well, thats nice and all, but these "extended" bits in ports always feel so tacked on (because they are).

I enjoyed the cutscenes in Final Fantasy Tactics:War of the Lions, but the side quests they added felt extremely out of place.

I can't believe the price NIS charges in Japan, too. That's highway robbery.

It depends. A lot of the features added to Disgaea PSP were fantastic. The new Disgaea DS features, not so much.

What I'd like to see them do with Phantom Brave is rebalance the engine somewhat-- right now the game is ridiculously busted.
