Hey, Gotlucky, do you know how RARE this cartoon is, and how poor the quality of the original is? Well, it's not DVD quality, that's for sure. Actually, it seems lilke "The Globe" screwed up something.

Sorry if I sounded rude Gotlucky. I guess the image got screwed up in uploading. The image should be fine now. Remember, the quality of the cartoon is pretty sloppy, so the image isn't the best.

That's pretty good for a copy of a cartoon that hasn't seen airtime on TV for who knows how long. I'll bet it was copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, ect, ect. Thanks for sharing Larry T. and Thad, edited scenes are always fun to view!

The image may be poor, but I'm just glad to finally see that censored scene.

According to Jon, the print of this cartoon came off a local network, recorded many years ago, even himself said the quality was pretty bad.

Wow! I never saw that scene before as far as I can remember. MGM cartoons weren't really cut back in the 80's when Tom and Jerry had various Tex Avery cartoons mixed in their show. I saw everything! There were no blackface edits or Chinese edits back then. I remember because THE MAGICAL MAESTRO had both of those types of scenes and those scenes are what made me remember the cartoon after 10 years. I would've been even more pissed if they cut the scene with the dancing bunnies. Have you guys seen what CN does to that cartoon now!? It makes me sick!

It's sad that CN used to show that cartoon (Magical Meistro)uncut...

I'm surprised they haven't just banned the cartoon - even aside from the stuff they cut, there are plenty of other racial stereotypes the singer is turned into. Not to say that I would really want them to ban the cartoon, but they completely chopped up a Tex Avery classic.

And EVERYONE notices the edit, they should have just cut the whole anvil dropping and pumping up out if they wanted it to be more seamless...

That screen shot came from an original recording I made from a local TV program that aired roughly 17 years ago called "Cartoon Playhouse". If you were even alive then, you would have known that a lot of local networks that showed cartoons used to show these old, worn, washed-out and reddened prints on a regular basis. Plus, on that day it was snowing out, and here in Canada that kind of thing can affect your signal reception significantly.

The only time I ever saw "Droopy's Good Deed" on that show was the day I taped it, and I recorded it everyday (it was on for an hour a day on weekdays only from 7:00am to 8:00am) for the three years that it aired; but that's no surprise, the amount of cartoons they had to go through was pretty amazing: they showed Warner's, MGM (all of them, including T&Js), Paramounts, UPAs, Lantz, and even some B&W Fleischers. The first time I saw something interesting on was somewhere within the first three weeks it began to air, and they showed "Freddie The Freshman". At this point a little light went on..... "Hey that's not the kind of thing these shows usually air........ I'd better start time-taping this" (I worked mornings so I was not home when it was actually on).

Good thing, too, there was a lot of notable stuff on that show. For some reason they aired certain cartoons ad nauseum, and others ultra-rare (one showing only... maybe someone actually SAW them when they aired). Some examples: I probably have fifty million copies of "Case Of The Missing Hare", "Sufferin' Cats", "The Loose Nut" and "The Seapreme Court". However, I DID get their one-and-only airings of "Garden Gopher", "Pop-Pie a la Mode", "Tin Pan Alley Cats" (complete with AAP), "Meet John Doughboy", "Uncle Tom's Cabana", and "Slip Us Some Redskin" (WOW!! that one won't be on again anytime soon..!!!)

So judge the quality of the image if you feel you must, but personally,....
I'd rather have a logo-free, low-quality original than NONE AT ALL!! :p

It sickens me, too, because this was one of my favorite cartoons. Why destroy a piece of history? As I had said numerous times, the minority is winning because they are whining! What about us? This is a part of Americana which is being taken away from us. Those "so-called" groups have a voice, but what about us? We live in America, last time I checked!

And by the way, isn't "con-gress" the opposite of "pro-gress"??:o
