View Full Version : Who could be Batman in real life?

So there's a little debate going on in the "What does Batman mean to you" thread about how plausiable a Batman is in the real world. Which got me thinking, who do you think has the physical and mental capabilities to pull off being Batman in the real world?

My first thought was that someone like Jackie Chan would have the physical and mental skills to pull it off. Provided he underwent detective training and etc.

I think there is no one alive in the real world that could pull it off- what you do is pull something like in "Soldier" where you take a baby and train it to be Batman from birth. Have it work out and take Karate lessons from early youth, taking detective classes and stuff on the side.

I'd call it... "Project Dark Knight". :D

Well I don't mean pull it off for a lifetime like Bruce, if that was the case, there's no way anyone could do it. But how about for a month or so? With patrols 4 times a week? (Yeah, I know, that's not really Batman, but let's be realistic here. ;) )

you'd be shot dead before a year was out

gotta remember all those times batman's life has been saved b/c a supervillian has been gloating over him or taunting him etc

Nah- he wouldn't get caught in the first place. Actually you are sort of right- it would be hard not to get killed- I mean moreso, think about how many bullets Batman simply dodges...

Every time I go downtown (chicago) I imagine how hard it'd be to go from rooftop to rooftop. I don't know if someone could physically be Batman, but I'm pretty sure it'd be darn near impossible for anyone to mentally 'be' him.

Jackie Chan? He's really getting up there in age

How about our Olympic Hero Kurt Angle?

It's true

Anyone could be Batman. You just have to be strong, smart, and most importantly A BILLIONAIRE! :D

So you think Bill Gates can pull it off?

True. True. I always picture JC in his prime though.

So doesanyone have the physical& mental skills and wealth to hypothetically pull it off?

That's the three I's and what better way to represent Batman, but with the three I's

It's true

It's true

And Kurt drinks his milk. I remember Batman telling Robin it's important to drink milk.

Jackie Chan definetly has the physical capabilities, he's so awesome! And, it's good to know I'm not the only one whose thought about what it would be like to go rooftop to rooftop. When I go to LA with my dad I've caught myself thinking things like "hey, if I shot a grappling hook there I could swing way over there to that building", or "I could run across those rooftops there and then vault up to that and then..."...when I realize what I'm doing, it's quite amusing.

well, JFK Jr. always reminded me of what Bruce Wayne would be like in real life. Until you know what happened...

Jackie Chan is an actor, Kurt Angle is an Olympic Hero

JFK Jr. is the former president dad or the son?

Well JC became an actor after a childhood of excrutiating torture (aka training), something I'd bet even the most dedicated Olympic "heroes" never went through. So he's just as much an actor, as you'd consider Kurt Angel just a wrestler.

I think a real life Batman would be arrested or shot pretty quickly. I don't care how quick he is with those Batarangs, someone would nail him in the face before too long.

That's true... anyone who dressed as a giant bat in the real world would be deemed "dangerously insane" and shot by the cops after even a few vigilante exploits.

Well, what's to say a real life Batman would dress up in a costume? I think a real life Batman would be more like a Special Forces commando, using mostly stealth.

Then he'd no longer be BATman! He'd be some lame, half-ass, wannabe ninja.

It's impossible for someone to be like the Batman in the cartoons/comics. Think about it: How many times has Batman been saved by criminals gloating(which has been mentioned before) and by other weird things that just don't happen in real life? That, of course, is imo.

Failure did you know Kurt Angle won an Olympic gold medal with a broken neck? A broken neck. Now that's dedication. Dare I say Batmanish dedication?

No, I didn't know that. However, I never questioned Angle's dedication. I was responding, because you stated flatly "Jackie Chan is an actor, Kurt Angle is an Olympic Hero." ANd I wanted to emphasize that Chan is much more than just an actor.

He's a good actor and I've never been let down by one of his movies. Did you know in Japan he sings? I have nothing against Jackie, his cartoon on the other hand...

Just a little correction: Hong Kong not Japan. ;) I think he might even have a couple albums out. You should see the list of injuries he's had. Ouch.

Failure

He's injured his neck but hasn't broken it. But has Angle ever fallen from a tree and hit his head on a rock, cracking his skull and giving him a brain hemorrage? He's still got a hole in his head from that.

Here's a list (http://jackiechanzone.virtualave.net/injuries/injuries.html) of injuries.

Not to get a pissing match over who gets hurt more of course. :)

batman has an obsession for justice, and morals. I doubt any of these celebrities or rich guys would have that necessary ingredient (obsession). Especially not Bill Gates, who we KNOW is an immoral, selfish man.

James Harvey

I think we need an unknown for this part. I can't see anybody, even wrestlers, taking up the cowl. They aren't known as the best actors and we need someone who can act in this role, becuase Batman is an emotional guy and that needs to be conveyed on the screen. Yes, the wrestlers have muscles, but we need an actor foremost. We need an unknown actor - that's the best way to go with it, I think.

BLACKHEART
03-09-2002, 01:58 PM
I couldn't agree with Harvey more. There isn't a man alive that could be Batman. Look at the people who have played him on the screen. That's why I hate the live action suff.

PS Kurt's a normal size wrestler. He doesn't have real big fancy arms or chest.

Being Batman is a privilege not a right. You just don't born and become Batman right away. You need to have really messed up life. In fact to become emotionally Batman and feel what he feels.... Let's just say nobody want's to feel this way. However it could be possible to become Batman phisically. You just need a lot of very hard training. Starting at a very young age.
