So...has anyone seen this movie? Both versions? If so, which do you prefer? Both are good, I think. The U.S. version is a bit shorter (which in this case is a good thing) but it has crappy `80s synth music. The European/Director's Cut version has the wonderful Jerry Goldsmith music but it drags a little bit sometimes. The best would be the U.S. cut with Goldsmith music.
But, anyway, the best thing about this movie is Tim Curry as Lord Darkness. What a bad*** he was in this movie. One of his finest moments.
And, Mia Sara...wow...she looked good in Ferris Bueller but I think she looks better here.

really good movie....the whole troubled production with the bond set catching on fire was a story in itself. tim curry as darkness was just a classic villan. right down to the bad ass design. i'm glad they finally got around to making an action figure out of it recently.
i like the director's cut alot. it has more of the lord of the rings epic vibe to it. the music was really good and my fav. was lily's song. it's a real shame they had to cut that since it was really haunting and sweet at once. i guess i'm in the minority though in actually liking the tangarine dream score that was edited in later....it was kind of cool and unique to have the modern pop sounding score against the mythical fairy tale atmosphere. i always liked how they did the little montage at the end with the song playing as gump brings the unicorn back to life and jack jumps into the water etc....i really missed that with the director's cut.

It wasn't unique. Ladyhawke beat them to it and did a much better job as well.

My opinion is the complete opposite of that. lol.

I love it too, but it's hard to find in the stores in my country!
