Yes. The Wal-Mart exclusive line just came in at my local store and the only one I'm missing is Riddler.

The WalMart I used to live down the street from in Charlotte had an aisle with a lot of the "hot" figures (Star Wars, Indy, Transformers, Dark Knight) and then like a half aisle with everything else, and that's where the DCU figures were. Not sure if that's everywhere, but that's how they were doing things...

Well I found a Riddler at a small Walmart, along with Superman Red and Black Manta, but that is only 1 Walmart out of 7. What is the point of this wave when you can't find them? When are ALL of the Walmarts going to get them?
As for Target, I found Artemis, WW, and the gold variant of Capt Atom. No regular Atom or gold Cyborg though, and most of all, no McGinnis.

I have yet to see any DC Universe toys at Wal-Marts here in MN, so you're not alone.

Does anyone know when stores are going to get more Wave 3? I still need Deathstroke, as my Targets only got 1 case each, and all but GL were gone when I got there.

The Wal*Mart over here only has Wave 1 (many Penguin figures) and my Target still has Wave 3 with no Green Lanterns. I had to go to a near-by city's KB toys in the mall to get my Green Lantern. I was hoping to get Wonder Woman figures for my little cousins what with the movie coming out in only three more months, but I can't find them anywhere except on the internet (where they are more expensive).

I had to make a run to an area Target today and decided to check out the JLU assortment. I was stunned.
In addition to the usual three packs on the pegs, of the available six packs now out - both Secret Society assortments, Legends of the League, and the now typo-corrected Attack from Apo(no extra "L")kolips - there was quite a large inventory. Large enough that they were literally falling off the shelves. Large enough that just for curiosity, I counted them.
With no exaggeration, there were FIFTY six packs on the shelves! Fifty?! Is it really possible for them to move even half that many?

Yeah I myself stopped by Target in Munster, Indiana to do some X-Mas shopping. They were overflowing with JLU six packs as well. It's not as though Cartoon Network is airing Justice League reruns all the time for kids to be asking Santa for 6 packs of Justice League figures. I wonder how much longer there will still be new JLU figures. I didn't really expect 2 1/2 years after the show ended for there to still be new figures coming out as they have been.

So when are we gonna know what direction the JLU line will take?(Batman Beyond, Superman: TAS, etc.)
Or was that 3-pack with Terry and Warhawk supposed to be it? Because I swear if I don't get a Spellbinder figure eventually...

I so wish I had taken the advice in the previous thread to not buy those JLU stands from MATTY.
I recently bought the MOTUC figures, and since I was placing an order already, I figured why not throw in a pack of stands.
What a disapointment. As was said before, many figures don't fit on the stands, such as Vigilante, etc.. and the stands are a little too tall and bulky.
If you are still considering buying them, DON'T!

Have you been able to stand Amazo, Shade or Hawk (or anyone with the same shape foot as them) with them? I was only able to use them on 7 figures. Thats a horrible ratio considering I bought 25 of them.

Yes they don't fit perfectly on the stands but they fit to the point where they are stable and i dont have to worry about them falling the only figures i havent fit onto the stands are Grodd, Darkseid, Doomsday, Ultra-Humanite, Rocket Red, Steel, Grundy and Etrigan because they definitely dont fit and they dont need them to stand on their own

Why would they make that but not someone like Spellbinder or Shriek?
I suppose it could be argued that Amanda's character had a much more significant impact on the JLU than those characters did on BB. She was intimately involved with a season long story arc, where BB didn't have those types of multi-episode stories, and as such, those characters played a less significant role.
On the other hand, if the line continues I certainly wouldn't be surprised to find some more BB characters trickle out. I'm thinking BB rogues gallery 6-pack.. :-)

Because its a jlu line not a BB line and if you remember she did have a pretty nice convo with terrry in "Epilogue" if that satisfies your BB hunger

You know, I really do not think they should show us Waller, as they are really going to screw us over later by making it some exclusive or something.
BTW, I saw the new 6 pack today with Bwana Beast and gang, but I turned it down because Captain Steel had a horrible paint job (his mask went into his eyes). Who the hell is Captain Steel anyway? Hell, who the hell are those people in that set other than Crimson Fox? I know Bwana was in for about 30 seconds of JLU, but that tells me nothing about him.
Also, Target has suddenly gotten an increase of Wave 2 DCU figures, so I managed to get myself the black version of Firestorm. However, no Batman, Deathstroke, Sinestro, gold Cyborg, normal Capt Atom, or Batman Beyond (either version) yet. :(

I respect you're not excited about these secondary JLU characters, but I do believe you are in the definite minority. Who are they? Look 'em up, as you're already on the internet :)
And as far as "either version" of Batman Beyond DCU figures, good luck with the unmasked one: he was a kB TOYS exclusive and now the store is going out of business....here's to hoping he shows up on Matty Collector or at Big Lots one day.

Are you implying that Crimson Fox is LESS obscure than Vibe and "Captain Steel"? And really, if you want to know more about any of those characters (like their names or whatever, just sayin'), there are short descriptions for each on the back of the packaging. :)
And regarding the new figure of the The Wall... that's just nuts. It's also very cool, but I officially give up trying to figure out the method that's being used when choosing which characters will receive figures.

So I saw the Brave and the Bold figures today at Walmart, and I was considering picking one of them up until I realized they do not have any articulation in the knees and none of the had a good paint job. Not just that, but the Blue Beetle from the 2 pack has no detailed paint on his chest.

I have a complete set of some DC cards from the early 90s that have many many characters, with Crimson Fox being one of them. Bwana, Capt Steel, that disco looking dude, and a few others I've seen in the background in JLU are not among them.

I'm not sure if you can say the line is dead, but I'm not sure if it's popular or not. Still, t did seem like a bit of over-kill to me. 3 seperate DC lines all at once may just be a bit too much for some..
I personally only collect the JLU figures.

They were definitely not peg warmers when they first came out...I'm thinking they just produced too many and the collectors that the line is aimed at got what they need and there is no one left to buy them

So it seems like Wave 2 of DCU has shipped out to stores again, for I have seen lots of Aquamans (both, which is the variant, as I have the long haired one), Superman Blue, Red, and black Firestorm. It would be nice if they would ship Wave 1, 3, and 4 more though, as I still need everyone from those lines.

I wish we could make this the DC JLU Animated Figure Talkback Thread, because I'm often really confused when folks reference characters that aren't in this line...example: Who or What is "The Wall"?
I'm very, very pleased to see an Amanda Waller figure coming out. I do suspect it'll be a SDCC exclusive for 09, as Target wouldn't want to get stuck with a bunch of her warming the pegs...but then again, maybe they will make a 6 pack. They've already got Capt Atom, Galatea, Doomsday and Superman. Add Amanda to that mix with a professor Hamilton figure, and I think fans would be very, very pleased.
But I'm pleased anyway. AS LONG AS THE FIGURE CAN STAND ON ITS OWN.
If she's as flimsy as most of the other figures in this line, she'll be falling over constantly, and that's annoying.
But good job Mattel!

This year there are going to be three packs including:
1) Warhawk, Batman Beyond, BB Bruce Wayne
2) Green Lanter (Justice League era-John), Dr Fate, Parasite
3) Booster Gold, Superwoman, Ultraman (the last two are Earth-3's version of WW and Superman)
There are 3 other 3 packs previewed, but these were the only ones that I wanted, so I forgot the rest. :P There are also more that haven't been previewed yet.
Individuals include:
1) Gotham City Villains: Harley Quinn, Bane, Scarecrow, Clock King
2) Fan Favorite Variants: Superman (black uniform with red S-shield,), Batman (uniform of Adam West Batman colour scheme), Sinestro Corps (Sinestro in Sinestro Corps uniform)
There are also others that haven't been previewed yet.
4 packs:
There will be one 4 pack per season. The only one previewed was the Gotham City Villains set, which leads me to believe they will simply the individuals collected in sets.
6 packs: No news yet, but a rumor has started that there will be Gotham City set, consisting of the Gotham City Villains individuals, as well as Batman Beyond and BB Bruce Wayne.

Technically though, can we consider the Gotham Villains a 4-pack if they're all individually carded? Is it a 4-pack just cuz they're sold together, or do they have to all be in the same plastic packaging together?
I don't even get why they're all in single packs. If Mattel only intended to distribute them on-line in one big bunch, why go to all the trouble?
Also, I REEEEALLY want Sinestro Corps Sinestro, but all the figures I can find of him have atrocious paint jobs on his left shoulder. Is this a limited problem or do all of his figures have fudgy yellow paint?
EDIT: I was bored so I decided to snap a photo of the Justice League section (http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e321/tjats/JimsJLU2K9.jpg) of my toy shelf. I had a Batman but he randomly broke apart at the torso. (And the Bane figure hasn't even been released yet so he can't take the credit this time.)

The Gotham Villains are being released seperately AND in a 4-pack, so I'm assuming they come in a big plastic box of some kind for the 4-pack.
I also want Sinestro Corps Sinestro. I just ordered a 3-pack including Superman, Wonder Woman and Etrigan, as well as Darkseid, Orion, and Mr Miracle. Next time I order something, I'll be getting Bizarro and Sinestro Corps.

I have nothing to base this on, but I think Ultraman and Superwoman are to promote the Worlds Collide DTV. Worlds Collide is supposed to have the Crime Syndicate in it. It seems random for the Crime Syndicate to have toys if they've never appeared in the DCAU and if they're not part of the Fan Favorite Collection.

As much as I agree with you and I'd like those made before the Crime Syndicate, I don't see this line as a JL/JLU line anymore. It's a collectors line and it's starting to become more of a Bruce Timm style line rather than a pure JL/JLU line. Which is great because who knows what we will get. But it stinks at the same time bc we will prob miss out on characters like the ones you mentioned or at least have to wait awhile for them to be made. Just how I see it though.

WHere have you been with the 6 packs lol, They released to brand new ones, a JL one with Commander Steel, Vibe, Bwana Beast, Crimson Fox, and Deadman and a Secret Society Pack with Atomic Skull, KGBeast, Silver Banshee, the Key, Shadow ThiefThe toys are never distributed everywhere all at the same time. Some areas, including mine, are still without those 6-packs.

Yep; that's the problem in my area. I've been checking dilligently since November, but the Targets within a 90 mile radius have never received the new 6 packs; the only 6 packs available have been the Apokolips and Secret Society re-do.
I'm hoping the new 6 packs will eventually pop up; I'm not really wanting to pay inflated Ebay prices.

i was freaking out about the 6-packs for a while there, too. but i think we all need to just settle down and wait. they'll be around. all the target exclusive stuff has been pretty plentiful so far, there's really no reason to think these won't be, too. i worked at a kay-bee toys for years and their policy was always to rotate stock in their warehouses, shipping older stuff that was laying around before moving onto the new stuff. i would guess that's what was going on before xmas with east coast targets.
but more importantly, i just saw the new toyfare. it's got a photo of the Waller figure AND...

Um, first those packs have to come to stores before they can be dropped. It took my Targets about 3-4 months to get the Gorilla Grodd pack after it was spotted, so I am quite sure it will be the same with those. Just because one store does not show them, does not mean anything. When they get them in, they will put them on the shelf.

this is what i'm saying. even when things were at their absolute worst (the volcana, stargirl/parasite, & big barda waves) every JLU wave so far has made its way to New Jersey. However limited the quantities, they got here. i was all over Jersey throughout December checking targets pretty much every day, and i can say with certainty they just never got here.
as poor as some of mattel's decisions have been, they would be seriously shooting themselves in the foot by not getting their product out to one of the most concentrated population centers in the country (and definitely one of the heaviest collector populations).

I check my local target stores frequently, always have since I've been a collector, and I too noticed that my targets finished resetting the toy isles, and there is no spot for the JLU 6-packs. Even when they didn't have the apokolips and grodd 6-packs (took forever to get them here in Milwaukee, WI), there was at least a space reserved with a price sticker. Now there isn't.
So I can either hope that there is still some stock in the target distribution centers that will trickle out during the summer, or I can head to ebay and pay higher prices but be garaunteed to get them.. Hmm.

See, my Targets have been different. The only 6 pack that actually had a price tag was the original Doomsday pack. The others did not, even when they had tons of the Alternate Grodd pack sitting on the shelves for months. They don't even have price tags for the deluxe B&tB figures, DCUniverse (which I am about ready to give up on), nor the new Power Rangers stuff.
BTW, I need to know, as I picked up Blue Beatle and Black Manta today, WOULD IT KILL MATTEL TO GIVE THE KNEES ARTICULATION??!! Seriously, they look boring posed in the same positions. And what is up with the holes in everyone's arms and legs?

i've been looking at the AFI boards and there is tons of info on this. i guess mattycollector made the announcement on their facebook page. this is just unreal. there was actually a poll asking who has found the 6-packs and where they live. basically 100% of people who live out west have found them with little or no trouble, while 100% of people in the norteast have been frantically looking and never seen a trace. what the hell?! i mean, this is only where DC comics is located. not alot of fans out here or anything.
really, in a line with a history of difficulties, this has got to be the biggest f-you to collectors i've ever seen. i've been on board with every timm-style figure since the 1st line of BTAS, and i've just about had it. hard to find is one thing, but to just completely neglect an entire area of the country? insane.
i'm giving you exactly one more chance, mattel (and unlike many posters, i don't say that every other day. i could really use the money that selling off my collection would bring). i don't care if it is target's fault. collecting toys should not be this stressful.

I am not sure what Mattel's issue is, as they have been like this since I first started collecting their MegaMan NT Warrior line. I never could find FlameMan, ElecMan, WoodStyle MM, and that vampire dude that Mattel released.
As for their DCU line, I am giving them 2 more paychecks to send to stores the figures I am missing (Batman Beyond, Gold Cyborb, Unmasked Batman Beyond, Sinestro Corp, normal Capt Atom, Batman, Unmasked Deathstroke, Classic Red Tornado, and the entire Walmart line minus Riddler) otherwise I am going to return every figure I still have unopened from that line and never touch another DCU figure.

The 4-pack is just the 4 singles being sold together for a discount. EX: if they're all $10 each, then you'd be paying like $37.99 for the four singles in a plastic bag. The reason it's an online exclusive is because there is technically NO 4-pack.

yeah, it's the two-face body from TNBA line. which is sort of weak, because he's just a tad above scale. so not only is he sort of on the buff side, but he's going to tower over most of your other jlu figs. i didn't mind it with the question cause he's sort of a burly dude, but i always imagined fugate as a skinny, bookish type.

Only a select few Targets ever got both 6 packs, and from what I hear, it was mostly on the east coast.
BTW, are the Gotham villians going to be heavily available on Mattel's site, or is it going to be a joke like the new He-Man figures where they make like 10 of each figure so that people cannot actually buy them beyond day 1? Even on their own site, Mattel's distribution is piss poor. I was planning to buy He-Man, Skeletor, and Beast Man all at once next month, and now I've been told they have been sold out for weeks, so I am not even going to drop a dime on anything He-Man.

Mattel has always been crazy regarding distribution (remember Hawkgirl and that old Lex two pack for the JL line?) so I've come to expect it.
I promise in even four months' time, you'll find He-Man and the others with significantly less hassle than you would if you tried to track them down now...and those odds improve even more if you wait a year. Annoying? Sure, but sometimes waiting is just easier.

I think this is all messed up and Mattel owes us an apology for all of the crap we have to go through. In the Spring, they better reissue those packs, otherwise I am going to stop buying anything they release. I have had enough of their bs distribution, and now, Wave 4 is out of print for DCU, and stores seem to be flooded with Mr Miracle and black Superman, but no one else. I'm done with the DCU figures unless I happen to find all 5 figures at the same time, and all must have perfect paint jobs. Does anybody know what stores in Canada will have any new DCAU figures this year? Is it seriously just Target (ie: American only) stores? I only got lucky finding 5 figures at my local comic shop because he never managed to sell them in 2005.
Yup the line is a target exclusive now but im sure ud find them at comic shops or online somewhere

I am not sure if its this site or the action figure forum that has a member or speaks to a rep from Mattel. I wish someone could bring up this nonsense with the non-east coast release of those 2 new 6-pack sets. I refuse to spend over $40 for each of the sets on ebay. I would call Mattel. But, I am sure some customer service rep would or could do squat. Someone in authority has to be contacted. Maybe, they could sell the sets on their website or have Target sell them on their website. This is just ridiculous.

I didn't realize you meant both packs, my bad.
Mattel is by far the worst company out there, and I pray for the day they lose the DC license to someone better who will actually give the lines the treatment they deserve.
It is crazy how year after year there is something new to be mad at Mattel about. The release of the latest 6-packs might be more Targets fault this time but if Mattel did produce a large enough quantity you'd think they would be out there somewhere. Hopefully they will be able to sell figures on their website once they stop being a Target exclusive, i.e. after the wave is no longer sold in stores. Besides Holday Hal and the soon to be rereleased Volcana, i have not missed a JLU figure yet and i'm going to be real upset if i miss 5 new ones because of these 6-packs.

If it makes you feel any better, I stopped collecting this line years ago because:
A) They were impossible to find on a regular basis. My TRU used to get them, but stock wasn't updated regularly.
B) The paint applications were a mess.
C) The quality of the plastic meant you had to check each figure out while they were still packaged to see if legs were bending backwards.
Cherry pick. Sure, you may love the regularity of your collecting habit, but it's worth backing away and waiting for something right to come to you, at the right price.

so i finally just broke down and bought the 6-packs on ebay. they came in the mail yesterday.
i have to say: in spite of everything, all of the new figures look great. i'm sure that some of the more critical people around here could find stuff to complain about, but in general the paint aps are greatly improved and, aside from b'wana beast's reluctance to stand up for any extended period of time, there are no catastrophic warping or sculpt problems.
sooo... is this new mattel policy or something? replace one issue with another? "we've improved the paint quality. what can we royally screw up on to compensate for this?"
all i know is i really can't afford to keep buying these guys at ebay prices (i can barely afford them at retail...) because i paid (in the words of the mooninites) FAR out the ass for them.
also, for anyone who's interested, check out the february q&a over on AFI. it's quite amusing in that mattel pretty much glosses over the distribution issue while simultaneously blaming the collectors for not demanding that their local target stock jlu.

Really really happy with the Amanda Waller/Gen E figures not being rare exclusives. I will definitely pick them up *and here's hoping they stand*
Is anyone else surprised to see boot cuffs on the Marvel family figures? If they weren't possible for Ice or Black Canary...why now?
That whole pack is a bit of a mystery to me...but I guess fans of the characters will be happy. I still think that Mattel's "official" versions of the customs fans made years ago will only pale in comparison, but hey...at least we're getting a Shazam for those who wanted one. And an Apache Chief. And a few Legion figures...from no show in particular...
Nothing much else here grabs me. Cheetah was a figure I was long looking forward to...but she looks really cheap, so I'll pass. Even the Batman Beyond crew look a little...off. Bruce just looks strangely proportioned, while Terry is just a mix of existing parts (does he really look better than the original blue and red dynamic figure?). Warhawk is the nicest of the group, but even with him...it'll all come down to paint apps.
It's just hard to get excited knowing most of these figures will likely be poorly painted and fall over.

Sorry guys, I couldn't attend the panel due to another commitment. Stopped by the display cases in the dealer's room though, and I was shocked to see Psycho Pirate there among the rest of the figures. Crazy.
I suppressed the urge to break the case holding the Gotham Villains single packs and run away with Clock King. It's clearly obvious that Bane is horribly proportioned with the rest of the line. It's like Knick Knack from Golden Gun put on the costume.
-Wave 5: Aquaman, Deadshot, OMAC, Superman red and blue which will be 50/50 (whatever the hell that means...)It most likely means that stores will have no control over how many Red and Blue Supermen they order. No matter the quantity, Matel will ship an even distribution of both colors. (i.e. If a Target store orders 20 Supermen Red/Blue single packs, they will receive 10 Reds and 10 Blues. They can't just ask for 15 Reds and 5 Blues.)

I'll admit I'm looking forward to the Batman Beyond set and the Shazaam 4-pack a lot. Basically all the Mattycollector 4-packs are impressing me.
Not at all happy about some of the 3-packs being random stuff (at least two waves of Superfriends? WTF!) when a lot of the heroes and villains from the series haven't come out, but aside from that the Canadian in me is too frickin' excited about the toyline coming back in stores to be annoyed.

1) Yeah, even I don't want that, truth be told. I just want there to be some sort of logic to the random figures like the Superfriends 3-packs and the All-Rd and All-Blue Supermans. I only want the Fan Collection and MattyCollector 4-packs (and Target exclusive 6-packs) to have random figures. 3-Packs should only have figures from the series.
Although I must admit, hypocritically I have no problem with Cyborg being in a 3-pack. :P

I just want there to be some sort of logic to the random figures like the Superfriends 3-packs and the All-Rd and All-Blue Supermans.I look at it as Mattel trying to save money however they can. If they bust out "brand new versions" of an old Superman mold, they will make more profit on those than if they had to sculpt a new head or new legs or whatever. And with that profit, they can make genuinely new figures.

I went to NYCC on Saturday and spoke to Scott N (I don't remember his full last name) and he told me that Target has already received all of their JLU 6 packs over the holiday season and that Mattel has no control over retailer distribution. I hope that this is in fact true since I just spent $120 on both 6 packs on ebay. I think it sucks that we didn't get a fair shot at these. Scott did say that the 6 packs figures should show up in different packs at a later date but I didn't want to run the risk of the line dying b4 they are re-released so I bought them on ebay. I'm gonna be pissed if they show up on the east coast at regular retail prices, but like some of you mention Central Jersey has never seen these 6 packs:mad: .

I wouldn't be surprised if this was in fact true, and that all 6-packs have been shipped out to target's distribution centers. I also believe that there are still a fair number of the 6-packs sitting in these warehouses. I am under the impression that target stores stopped stocking the 6-packs in their stores until later in the year, at which point those figures should finally trickle out to the rest of us.

Just went to Wal-Mart and Toys R Us. Both had a ton of Mattel DC-related toy lines when just a week ago all they had for DC was leftover Dark Knight movie toys. Now there's entire walls of DC Universe, Dark Knight, BBAB, and The Batman at both stores.
This may be unrelated, but I think it's pretty telling since JLU is a Mattel DC Universe line, and since the next JLU wave is only next month.

Some interesting answers straight from Mattel over at actionfigureinsider:
Q1) Is there a possibility of ever using a different female body for characters in the JLU, other than the wide legged high heeled version? Could you/would you ever consider using the Shyera Hol figure sans belt buckle?? What about the Catwoman for smaller characters like Supergirl or Stargirl (of course with a smaller head) will you ever be sculpting a new torso for the Shayera figure to give us a flat footed, blank body for upcoming female figures in JLU?
I AMAZED at all you have done for this line…and the character variety has been great…. but I for one would love to see this body utilized further.
A1) We are working on getting more parts for a female body lined up. Our new Mary Marvel figure has new legs with boot cuffs (which might be perfect for a certain Kryptonian figure…). But the Hawkgirl figure does not have a removable belt, so this is not exactly an option. And yes, if a figure would work with the Catwoman body or the Batgirl body that would be a great option as well. We would only use it through if it works for the figure.
Um...call me crazy, but weren't Supergirl and Stargirl perfectly suited for this Batgirl/Catwoman body? Why did they waste sculpting them so out-of-scale? Sometimes, with answers like this, it sounds as though Mattel knew about these bodies all along, and just chose not to use them  Suuuuuuuure.
Q3) Will the DCUC 2 packs and JLU figures ever going to be available outside the US? Please don’t make too much exclusives, its extremely difficult for us international fans to get them I haven’t got any new JLU figures for a while now here in Singapore.
A3) Yes, both the DCUC 2 packs and the JLU packs are available on international cards for areas outside of the US if retailers order them. Remember, we can only ship product to retailer who order it. So ask your local retailer to do so! The JLU packs however will be in a slightly different configuration with a heavier mix of Batman and Superman in the packs due to international market demands.
So...does this include Canada? Will we be swamped with Supermans and Batmans...again...!?!

1) Sounds like they realized they could have used that prefered shortcut of Catwoman/Batgirl only after they designed a whole new mold. :p
The "certain Kryptonian" comment has me intrigued. Do we really need a complete redesign of Supergirl? I don't think that's the route they'd go, so maybe we'll get either SG from the final season of JLU, and/or Superwoman who debuted in the New Krypton comics recently. Or maybe Black Supergirl (the evil one when she got exposed to Black K in the comics) as a fan collection figure.
2) Batman's only more popular in Canada because of all the cartoons and movies of him lately. What's the excuse for Superman?
Anyhoo, I saw DCUC 2-packs at Toys R Us in Montreal, so I guess it's safe to say they'll be coming to Canada. :)

It was retconned that the reason she has a hole in her uniform is because she eventually hopes to fill it with her own symbol. (She doesn't want to cop Superman's S shield.)
And she doesn't just have bigger boobs. Her entire physique is suited for a female wrestler. (The regular kind, not the WWE kind).

But yeah, they retconned her into being Kara Zor-L, the Supergirl of Earth-2.

That kind of defeats the purpose of having the line be a Target exclusive if they put the toys up for sale on Matty.
And not to entirely defend Mattel, but they can only ship Target as much as is ordered. Every Target I've been to, the JLU stuff have been nothing but peg warmers. If they were flying off the shelf that would be one thing, but that isn't exactly happening.

True. But, Mattel is a big enough company to say to them. "Look you failed to make an "exclusive" item available to the entire northeast. Thats not a few stores thats a entire section of a country." And if they don't want allow Matty to sell them. Then put the stock they have left (or new stock from Mattel) and make it available on Target's website.

And if they don't want allow Matty to sell them. Then put the stock they have left (or new stock from Mattel) and make it available on Target's website.
Anybody else wish Mattel did exclusives with stores other than Target? Be it either "instead of" or "as well as" Target's exclusives.
And not selling to the entire northeast is bigger than you think. Target may just sell to the States, but Mattel doesn't. Having an exclusive for a store that sells only to one country yet fails to sell to that country's entire northeastern block means Mattel didn't end up selling to at least 25% of its buyers. Target better be buying a stinkload of toys from them for this to be acceptable -on a regular basis- by Mattel.

I think that...
... the Joker design looks fine, and not unexpected at all. Except for the haircut it's basically the same Dick Sprang inspired model James Tucker designed for "Legends of the Dark Knight":

If you go a few posts up you will see. Basically, Target had the exclusive to 2 different JLU 6-pack sets. Both had almost all never released figures. For some reason Target's distribution system seemed to have failed to distribute the set to most Target stores in the Northeast. So now fans who them. Have to spend outrageous amounts of money on Ebay to get the sets. When their might be thousands of sets sitting in a warehouse out west or languishing on a shelf.
On a another note. The Gotham pack at Matty is up for order.

The JLU stands: When I was at NYCC I also asked the Mattel rep why the JLU stands didn't work. He gave me the stock Mattel answer, "What do you mean they work on all but 3 figures and Solomon Grundy doesn't need one, blah blah blah. So I challenged him and asked him if they worked so well then why were so many of the figures on display at the show falling over.I really wish I had thought of bringing my Hawk, Atom Smasher or Red Guardian figure or even B'Wana Beast and a stand and asked him to show me how they work but I didn't. I suggested that they should be using the stands that they are trying to sell on Matty at the Comic Cons to show the fans how well they work and he said to me that he hadn't thought of that and would have them with them for San Diego. It will be interesting to see if they actually use them at San Diego because I KNOW FOR A FACT that they don't work. If this is a product that they stand behind (HE HE) then why not use them to stand up their impossible-to-stand-on-their-own figures instead of using fun tack?

Got the Gotham Villains set today.
The paint on Scarecrow and Harley Quinn is great. A lot of chances for the paint applications to be messed up, but I can't see anything seriously wrong on either of them. There's a little overlap with the white of Harley's face covering a bit of the edge of her costume, but that's it.
Clock King's head is a tad too small for that body, but otherwise the sculpt is great. Love his upturned lip. Strangely, the two images of him on the back of the card are from "Time Out of Joint," which features his black suit. Ever since they debuted the toy I wished they'd used that suit instead. Must be their way of unintentionally taunting me.
He's also the first villain on my Justice League shelf. I don't think they're going to get along that great.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e321/tjats/KingLeague.jpg
He's not QUITE that tall. The picture was taken at a slightly low angle. IRL his glasses are on level with the tops of most everyone's heads. Still too tall to be in realistic scale, but I like it. Makes him seem physically intimidating, which is a brand new concept. Clock King? Intimidating? I wish I had a little visor and calculator accessory to give him. He'd be like a thuggish accountant.

I just noticed that Mattel actually poked a hole in one of Fugate's feet for a stand. Just six months ago, the Question (same body mold) didn't have a hole. Ironic because this is one mold that never NEEDED one. :p
Meanwhile my Hawkgirl, despite coming with a stand, can barely use it because the leg without a hole is distinctly longer than the leg WITH the hole.

Umm...I only have GL, but I'll do what I can. Scarecrow is rather annoying. His walking stick isn't tall enough to reach the "floor" no matter what angle you put it at, so he's continuously lurching forward. Add that to his already downward glance, and unless you put him above eye level on a shelf, you'll never see his face.

When asked about the Cheetah and Batman Beyond 3 packs at NYCC the Mattel rep informed me that the factory that was producing them shut down and took all of the finished product with them. (This is most likely why you see random 3 packs pop up on ebay from Hong Kong from time to time) Mattel had to start from scratch with a new factory so they are delayed. They were scheduled to be released in February but should now be in the pipeline for a late March early April distribution.

Toys R Us over here (Montreal) carries essentially everything by Mattel. When I asked an employee about JLU, he said he wasn't sure, but that the big empty space (between DCU Infinite Heroes and Dark Knight) was for "3-packs by Mattel that have superheroes in them like Batman and Superman," and that "those Mattel toys were supposed to have been here since the middle of last month."
Sidebar: He mentioned it was a waste of space and that they should dump their remaining other superhero overstock in that section until the Mattel toys showed up. I asked if he could look in the back for JLU toys, as there hasn't been room for the overstock bargain bin for years (which tells me that they should have a bunch of the Lex/Copperhead/Mirror Master, John/Killowag/Tomar-Re, and Martian Manhunter 3-packs in the overstock pile he's talking about), but he wasn't about to go to all that trouble for me. D:
I'm unemployed... maybe I should try getting a job there while I look for something in my field, just to get access to the old overstock. :P

Mattel showed several of the "missing" 6 pack figures at Toy Fair this year. Last year they said that they wouldn't show JLU at Toy Fair since the line was a Target exclusive. I'm not sure if they did this because they are looking for other retailers to pick up the line or if they are looking for international retailers to pick up the line. Anyway, I say this to say it looks like they will be back. I was too impatient to test that theory so I spent over 100 bucks to get both 6 packs on ebay.

All the figures in these packs are awesome when it comes to paint aps and sculpt. Many kudos to Mattel for this great improvement. Cool how Cheetah has two open hands and an articulated tail (making the entire figure, technically, a unique sculpt. Seems though that the new figures are waaay too rubbery Might have a bit of trouble keeping these guys standing as they stand for long periods of time. Still I'm very happy with these new figures. Batman Beyond kept the Batman arms. Bruce is a bit tall (as are most guys with the suits) but the sculpt makes up for it.
Many thanks Mattel.
These were acquired in the Philippines, just tonight. In specialty stores. I'm not certain for myself but a member of DcHall (also from the Phils) said they're also available in select mainstream stores. Not sure what that means regarding the 'switched factory' issue.

Yeah, during The Adventures of Batman & Robin era, when I was into getting these things and playing with my friends, there were barely any figures outside of unbelievably weird variations on the same Batman figure.
Poo: they were just DCU Infinite Heroes 3-packs. Still no JLU in Montreal. :(

Are you referring to Talia or Tala, the JLU sorceress? A Talia (daughter of Ra's Al Ghul) figure came out years ago in the TRU exclusive four pack. Very nice figure, but a purple outfit, which bothers some people.
Man that picture of the TNBA villain gang just reminds me how totally beautiful the Mattel Catwoman sculpt is/was. Like the pairing up of the Kenner TNBA Bats with Jack in the Box Batgirl...and Robin? Were they both JITB figures?
Cas, cas, cas...as soon as you can - take a crack at giving Mattel's Dr Crane a makeover!

And if you're wondering about a TALA figure, there's already one scheduled to be released. There are pics of the prototype floating around the interwebs.
Speaking of figures that will be available in some of the newer waves...
Are there any early thoughts about what the back of the package art will look like? I'm specifically talking about the "action shots" of the characters that are screen grabs from JL/JLU episodes. In the case of Scarecrow and Bane (who neither appeared on JL/JLU) and Clock King and Harley Quinn (who did) the packaging featured shots of them from BTAS/TNBA episodes. But what kind of images will Mattel use for characters that never appeared in DCAU shows like Ultraman, Super Woman or OMAC? Will they show screen grabs of Apache Chief and Black Vulcan from episodes of Superfriends? Cyborg from Teen Titans?
Any speculation out there?

Yeah they're both from JIB. I love the scale and sculpt on both of them but they don't stay standing for ****! l have the JIB Supergirl in my JLU display. What happened to the thread where you can show your collection? I'd love to share mine.

Disneyboy, Yes. I was talking about Tala. I am glad to hear that she is part of a planned release. It's funny that certain characters who appeared more than once haven't been released (ie-Toyman) and characters who appeared for a second have. Yes, I assume its because Toyman might need a whole new sculpt.

And just to emphasize your point, here's a pic of Tala, Devil Ray and....Psycho-Pirate...

As for Superwoman, they are using Justice Lord Wonder Woman art.

I wonder if the answer meant they'd be using art from the comics, or if DC had original DCAU art drawn just for these packs.

Anyone else find it odd that Devil Ray/Black Manta - the guy who usually has the biggest head because of his helmet - actually has a smaller noggin' than Tala and the Pirate?

I don't think it's smaller, just more horizontal and not as vertical as most traditional heads are (i.e. not Stewie Griffin or Ernie from Sesame Street).

I finally received my package from Matty today! Here's a look at the scale of the new figures. Bane & Scarecrow are TINY and l hate that you can't see Scarecrow's face but they are great sculpts with excellent paint apps.
... I'm from Holland and a huge Batgirl fan.
Can anyone please help me get that new action figure?!
PLEASE? I'll double the price if i must. PLEASE?! I'm really desperate for this one people! If anyone can help me get the Batgirl action figures from the more recent years, i'd be really grateful...
It's REALLY hard to get any good DCAU in Holland these days, even in the most specialised stores in Amsterdam.

They said turnarounds. So they'd probably use 'model-sheet' style art rather than action shots.

The Batgirl figure you see in the photo is not a new figure it is a kids meal premium from a US west coast restaurant chain called Jack in the Box and is AT LEAST 10 years old. l don't want you to make yourself crazy looking or asking for this figure since they are pretty hard to find these days.

This is the Superman Red and Blue I know:
http://www.supermanhomepage.com/multimedia/Wallpaper-Images2/mbailey-bluered.jpg
Next time they need to specify which versions they mean so that they do not get people excited.
Anyway, it is getting to the point that I am going to call it quits on this line. From the most asnine distribution (I've given up on the DCU line, especially since I am missing too many body parts), figures only being released in some areas, and the horrific paint jobs that follow, online exclusives, it just isn't worth it anymore. I want to get the Gotham Villians pack, but I do not have the money to spare, and probably won't for some time. WHy couldn't someone like Hasbro get the line, at least I'd be able to find most characters.

That's from the original 1963 story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_Red) that introduced the concept of Superman Red / Superman Blue. In that story, Superman tried to increase his intelligence by exposing himself to various types of Kryptonite at the same time; and the resulting effect was that it split him into two Superman (one in a blue costume and one in a red costume).
The later electric Supermen story was an homage to the 1963 tale.

Here's Mattel's answer for ya
New figures on the internet? Ebay?

Mattel fans,
A lot of fans have asked this week about unannounced figures from different lines as well as packaged images of figures showing up first on Ebay or other sites as well as why some fan sites have figures for "review" before they are in stores. Allow me to shed some light.
First off, the figures for review are sent out by me or Toyguru to different fan sites for PR. We get a very small sample of early figure for our review and I try to send them out to key fan sites so that all of our fans can enjoy final product images as a sneak before they hit stores.
As for unannounced figures or packaged images showing up on Ebay, well all I can say is 1: sometimes these are custom figures we have nothing to do with, and 2: sometimes these are figures removed from our vendors without permission and Mattel vigilantly will go after anyone involved in these auctions from the seller to the buyer. Our best advise; stay as uninvolved in these auctions as you can. Everyone at Mattel is very proud of our product and the hard working people who work on it. Auctions of non final product hurts everyone. It hurts our sales, it hurts our licensors and it hurts our fans as many times this product is not final (both toy and package) and gives the wrong impression of what product will be like leading to false conclusion.
Until product is revealed officially either here or on a fan site (and by officially on a fan site we mean as in when we send a sample out for review like we did with a few JLU figures and Mer-Man last week).
Mattel will continue to legally defend its property and have it returned to us. Bootleg and prototype theft has always been a problem with highly collectable lines for every manufacture in the business and I highly recommend fans not getting involved in it. It is not something you want to poke around with as this is Mattel property and we will go after it and involve resources needed to do so.
We will continue to use this forum and the fan sites to get the most up to date OFFICIAL images to our fans. We have many figures "in the cooker" for all of our lines, some will see the light of day sooner than others, some may not come out anytime soon for multiple reasons (legal, logistic, otherwise) which is why we try to hold back any images or announcements until we know the figure is officially coming out and final.
And on a cheerier note, look for some big announcement later this week of all new official product that IS coming out later this summer right here on my Facebook page!
