View Full Version : Important Announcement: Going On Hiatus

James Harvey

Hey folks,

World's Finest creator Jim Harvey here to update ya on a very special announcement. I'm sure some of you have heard rumblings of me stepping down from WF. Well, that's true...to an extent. I am stepping down, but only temporarily. I've dedicated most of my life to this website, these boards, and Toon Zone in general, but things have gotten just a bit more complicated. Recently, I was offered an internship at a newspaper and I couldn't say no. Without a second though, I took the job. So what does this mean? This means I'll be stepping dow for a little while as head of World's Finest and these boards. As an intern at the newspaper, I'm in for long days, no weekends, and essentially no life. Taking this job means it'll be impossible for me to continue participating at Toon Zone. It doesn't mean I'm gone for good, I'm just not going to be around as much. I'll still check the boards as much as possible, but I won't be posting as much.

The real kicker is that I will no longer be able to do the news on a daily basis as well. I do plan to do three - five big interviews over my hiatus for the website. Other than that, my participation in the newspage will be slim to none. For this, I apologize. I feel like I am letting alot of people down by not being able to do the daily news, but there is no way I can continue doing it when I start my job.

By now you're asking 'when does this start?'. My hiatus will begin on March 25th and extend into late August/early September.

With that said, I have appointed Maxie Zeus to take over at the head of these boards. If you have any problems, complaints, questions, then direct them towards Maxie. He will now be the big cheese around here while I'm gone. We're currently working on getting every last detail planned out. As for the news, if you have any questions, news, etc, just email news@toonzone.net and they will do their best to help you out. I won't be readily available at email for awhile, so the best bet would be to go through them. As for the website, I'll be putting the site on hiatus (for now) until I can get things ironed out there as well. I have great faith that Maxie is going to make this place great, so don't worry. We have a dedicated team of mods (more on that soon) and they are going to do their best to make sure that things stay their best.

Also, I'm assuming alot of you are worried about the current Pick the Best 'Batman: The Animated Series' Episode poll. We're getting that ironed out as well, but it will stay up and I still plan to do the interviews for the most popular episode.

So, to sum things up, I'm taking an extended hiatus from March 5th to the end of August, and Maxie will be stepping into my shoes. With me leaving, there is a bit of a gap left in the Mod Squad. For the past few days, Maxie & I have been bringing in new Mods to help out now that I'll be stepping down. After along search and planning and debating, we have come up with our new Mod Squads for the WF Boards, and they are as follows:

Batman, Superman & Beyond: Jim Harvey, Maxie Zeus, Nightwing, The Mad Hatter, Bird Boy, Clayface.

Justice League: Jim Harvey, Maxie Zeus, Nightwing, Bird Boy, Karkull, The Flash.

The AniTainment Board: Jim Harvey, Maxie Zeus, Nightwing, Bird Boy, Failure, SJJ.

Cafe Toon Zone: Jim Harvey, Maxie Zeus, The Mad Hatter, SSC, Calhoun07, Nightflower.

Effective as soon as possible, that will be the new Mod line-up for the World's Finest Boards. Take a close look at them. Those are yer new mods. Treat them well...:)

Also, see that "Cafe Toon Zone" name? That is new the new name for the AnyGen Board. That board will be renamed really soon, with a new design and banner.

So in conclusion - it's going to be hard getting used to the fact I won't be here everyday posting news and thoughts up on the board, but I will stop in and post time to time. I will still keep a watchful eye over these boards as much as I can, but Maxie & his crew are going to do an amazing job, I know it. I will still be posting up to March 24th, so if you have any questions, feel free to email me, PM me, ask me on AIM, or even reply to this post. I can't guarentee I will answer them all, but I will do my best. I have had an amazing four years here, and I look forward to returning here when my internship is over to talking and chatting with some of my best friends.

James Harvey

While it won't be the same without you around as much, I'm glad to hear you'll still be lurking, and still be involved on some level.

Don't worry about feeling like you're letting anyone down - you've given so much to this site over the years, and now its definitely time to take some time for yourself. You've made the right decision taking that internship, and I'm sure its gonna work out great for you.

And, in the mean time, rest assured that those of us that you've picked to help with the mod tasks will do our best to live up to all that you've created here. And thanks once again for letting me be part of the new team!

And a hearty "congrats" to our new head honcho Maxie!

Yah, it'll be like Birds of Prey around here during your self-imposed exile, but we've got some fresh new faces to keep us entertained. And no costumes.

I hope Maxie Zeus goes power mad like his namesake and bans insolent members left and right with the speed of lightning and the power of thunder. Nah, that would never happen. Or has it already begun ... ?

Good luck with your internship. May you rise to the ranks of Jimmy Olsen between now and August.

Hmm, Maxie gone power mad...please don't leave us Jim!

Well, you'll be missed, but you're doing the right thing by taking this internship. It'll be a great learning experience and you'll get to hear about the news as soon as it happens so that you'll be able to respond to it by putting on your superhero costume and saving the world as quickly as possible. I know that's what I would do if I worked at a newspaper.

Hope it all works out.

It won't be the same as you as the mod of this board, James. I guess we sorta took it for granted; I've only been on these particular boards for a while and you (and everyone else here) have done a hell of a job. I hope this hiatus of yours is shorter than you expect. :-)

Wait...

*BITES NAILS*

...who'll be my co-editor on BATMAN: THE ANIMATED NEWSLETTER now? Noooooo!!!!!

Jim, it's definitely going to be weird once you leave, but don't worry, you're not letting anyone down. You've put more into these boards, into the news pages, than anyone could've imagined. And I think we're all grateful for all of the great work you've done. It's good to know that you'll be lurking time to time, and that you'll be back in several months.

Congrats on your internship, make the most of it. We'll try to keep things running smoothly in the meantime. Maxie's gonna make sure of it. ;) In the meantime, make us all proud! :D

Congratulations on your internship Jim. As an intern myself I know how important these opportunities can be and know that you'll excell at this new job. Who knows, maybe you can convince them that they need a daily section based on continual updates for cartoons and animated features - catapaulting the entire industry into larger view and raining further praise upon an industry that far too many people consider 'childish'. (It could happen).

Once again congrats on this new job and thank you for putting together a website that always gives us the latest news on the WB Animated Projects, while providing us with a chance to interact with the staff and other fans. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to your eventual Mario Lemieux-esque return.

-Joe

So what paper are you going to be working for so that we can all be on the lookout for your first Headline?

Although it's been said already, I'm a journalism major myself and every opportunity to get into this competitive field should not be passed. I think it's great you've got a chance to learn from people in the field and gain experience. You're one lucky guy!!

Jim has paved a path for Maxie to follow, and Maxie will live up to your status, I'm sure!

Congrats to both Jim and Maxie!! :D

First of all, from one original "herring choker" to another, congratulations! The first thing I thought was "hey, maybe he means The Times Transcript." I know a few people that have worked there. I've been inside the building and seen the printing process, too. It's impressive. Hope you have fun wherever it is you work!
