This is a topic, if you want you could double on both the Anime and Nicktoons message board.
Nickelodeon / Nicktoons TV has recentely aired anime like shows, or anime influenced shows, and they seem to be successful. For example Avatar: The Last Airbender, Three Delivery, Kappa Mikey and to a lesser exdent (as far as anime influence) Speed Racer: The Next Generation. You think Nickelodeon or Nicktoons TV would dare air the real thing?
For a long time, Nickelodeon's two rivals in childrens programming Cartoon Network and Disney Channel (through Jetix) has been a place for children anime shows to air. Ironic because a long time, Nickelodeon used to be a big forum for anime shows.
Could anytime soon we see anime on Nickelodeon or Nicktoons TV? Nicktoons TV has aired a lot of import shows from english speaking countries Canada and England lately. So they are open to import shows.
A long time ago, anime was a huge part of the early Nickelodeon.

If SGT Frog ever works out in America, I can see it going to Nick.
If Doraemon ever works out in America, Nick Jr. might be possible.

Nick rarely makes room for acquisitions in general but Nicktoons Network is a possibility asuming the Marvel cartoons do well enough to help them find some success with acquisitions.

Maybe Nicktons Network if Wolverine and Iron Man both do well there, but I just can't see watching stuff like Naruto and One Piece on the main Nick channel.

I could see Nicktoons strike up a deal with Toei for One Piece, Pretty Cure, Beet the Vandel Buster and maybe even Bo-Bobo once CN's license ends. Viz could do the same with some of their shows though many are caught in CN limbo. Naruto isn't going to leave CN I'm sure but besides it and One Piece there's not many particularly marketable and successful series Nicktoons might consider.
SGT Frog's possibility was already mentioned.
I'd love to see Hamtaro and Doraemon on Nickelodeon at some point but they most likely never will be there.
FUNimation might even stirke up a deal with Nicktoons to broadcast some of their tamer programing but they have plenty of venues to choose from so they most likely wont go for Nicktoons.
4kids anime showing up on Nicktoons is also a possibility but since they most recently sent a show to Jetix... Disney XD seems more likely.
I don't forsee Bandai, Mediablasters or what remains of Geneon or ADV getting any shows on Nicktoons much less Nick proper but then again ADV did almost get SGT Frog on Nickelodeon so I guess anything is possible really.

If nick would dare to treat aquisitions well I'd love some anime there.

With Saturday mornings dead beyond the Pokemon years and CN's hey day over the only place a truely marketable anime could get the exposure it needs to succeed would be Nick proper... but again the possibility is just simplky too outlandish but Nicktoons is far more plausible.
Then again after how they treated MIB: TAS, I'd rather Nick not get any aquisitions because I know they wont treat them well they simply never do.

Nick needs a DBZ type action anime. Any suggestions?

Could Nickelodeon air anime? Of course they can. I guess that they just don't want to, and they certainly don't need to air anime. Nick has been doing just fine for years with no anime at all. There's probably just no real incentive on the network's part to do so at this time.

The only reason why they paid SGT. Frog attention in the first place is because ADV's pilot was aimed towards children and was heavily Americanized.
Someone said the current situation for anime on TV is like it was in 1997, you get the good stuff on Sci-fi, and the only way for anime to get on the rest of TV (which was rare) was for them to be thoroughly distorted from their original form.
We seem to be approaching that point. AS has exiled anime to the 1 AM hour and beyond on TV's worst night. CN seems intent on preventing Naruto's audience from knowing the show's on. Toon Disney gave Digimon Data Squad a massive diss by throwing the remainder of the series in the middle of Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
In 1997, Nick barely ran anime at all, if they still did. They were fast phasing out their library of classic cartoons and acquisitions in favor of original programming (see any parellels with CN, anyone?). If they didn't want or need to run anime back then, they certainly won't now. Not unless they see a huge amount of potential in a particular show (which they seemed to do with SGT. Frog's Americanized pilot).
There is an interesting wild card: the "test dub" FUNi presented to us was Americanized. Could that be a preview of a Nick run? We'll find out in the coming months, I guess.

I could see SGT. Frog doing really well on Nick. It has 200+ episodes and could stay a hit for a very long time.

I've been saying for years that Nicktoons is a perfect place to air anime. I mean Nicktoons has said in their ads and in press releases many times that they're dedicated to showing quality animation from around the globe. Why wouldn't they air anime at some point?
And as far as the "Sgt. Frog" test dub goes, FUNimation will probably omit a lot of the Americanization they put in their since that was the biggest complaint they got for it in the first place. That was probably the main reason they put out a test episode, so that when it finally comes out on a kids' timeslot here they won't get a bunch of backlash from angry fans. They know this from experience.

I too think nick should air anime.
And I agree SGT. Frog & one peice would work well one NIck & Hamtaro & Doreamon on NIck Jr. But Sadly I don't think Nick is really interested in Anime. (Althugh as stated If THe Marvel toons do good , they may change their mind on Action cartoons.) I'd also love to see the Marvel Animes on regular Nick when there finished, since sadly i don't get nicktoons.:(

They need another Avatar type show.

They need another Avatar type show.
Avatar wasn't an anime, unless you're saying that Nick needs another show that was as good as Avatar, to which I would agree, except that I personally couldn't care less what country the new shows come from, as long as they are well animated and enjoyable.
Folks, lets' not confuse our wants with people's needs. You may want for Nick to show anime, but Nick deosn't need to by any stretch of the imagination. Nick has been running swimmingly for over a decade with no anime on it's schedule whatsoever, so clearly, there's no need on the network's part to acquire Japanation. Also, Nickelodeon is first and foremost, a KIDS' channel. The only people saying "Nick needs to air anime!" are anime fans, most of whom are teens and young adults and are therefore considerably older than Nick's target demographic. Nick's target audience, kids aged 12 and under, aren't complaining about the lack of anime on the channel, so again, why should Nick fix something that isn't broken?
Nickelodeon doesn't need anime; it just needs quality shows that people will watch. As long as the shows are good, it shouldn't matter one whit what country they're from.
Now before anime fans start yearning for my head on a plate, let me just say that I'm neither putting down anime nor any of it's fans; I'm saying that Nickelodeon could run anime anytime that they want to, but right now, there's just no incentive on Nick's part do make such a move.

Except that it makes little sense to focus on the whims of a bunch of college-age anime geeks when setting up a TV run when they're not the TV audience.

Then it was pointless for them to put out that test episode in the first place. Depending on who they're pitching the show to they may not mind who FUNimation's trying to cater, which is probably as many people as possible. If the final product is like that in that case then the dub will probably keep that same re-written humor but still retain the original terminology and names.

Nickelodeon doesn't need, much less want anime. They could care less about anime fans.

Nicktoons could be a possible home for anime, as they treat acquisitions with a decent shred of respect and dignity compared to its parent network.
I don't want anime on Nick, simply because they treat everything that's not 1st Party like crap.

As others have said, they could air it, but they obviously don't need it since they can crush pretty much anything CN or Disney airs with a Spongebob marathon.
