Do you think a Shonen Jump block could work on Saturdays on CN, it could show Shonen Jump in a schedule like this

7:00 pm Yugioh 5ds
7:30 pm Naruto Shippuden
8:00 pm One piece
8:30 pm Bleach
9:00 pm Rosario Vampire
9:30 pm Uncut Dragon Ball Z

So do any of you think that this could work ?

Bleach is part of [adult swim]; no way you're going to see that on CN.

As for the block itself, it's not a bad idea, but it smacks too much of Toonami, and CN has clearly washed its' collective hands of the whole Toonami concept.

I know that but perhaps a possible move could work.

It does look like a good block though, Shaman king would'nt hurt but a block like that would'nt last. Sorry but would it be a morning or night block.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but it's not up to me; you'd have to convince the CN Suits that such a block would be worth their while, economically and demographically speaking. The abysmal last 2 years of Toonami are enough to keep the execs at CN from even considering such a move. They're not going to sink money into acquiring shows for a block that's not guaranteed to make them money and ratings back.

It's OK to fantasize, but realistically, CN is never going to reacquire Shaman King. At all. SK tanked when it was originally ran on CN, and the show is finished, dead and gone on both sides of the Atlantic. It's just going to happen.

Not going to happen. Unless some anime series scores HUGE ratings for Cartoon Network, they won't be interested in putting together another anime block, especially not on weekday afternoons.

Bleach could be on Cartoon network if it was edited. And adult swim is a block not a network. So Cartoon Network could air it on that shoen block.:)

They've nearly got something like this in Australia. Naruto, One Piece, and Bo-bo-bo. Replace Ben 10 AF with DBZ and you've got a great weekday night block, which lots of people have been asking for.

For ratings purposes, [adult swim] is considered a separate entity from Cartoon Network. It's been that way since 2005.

Not to get off topic but they are all in the same company. And last time i checked Its Cartoonnetwork company and Cartoonnetwork studios. Not the Adultswim studios or company so there for its just a block.:)

Dude, I'm not arguing the point; it's not about what I think it is or what I think it should be; I really don't care one way or the other. I'm just giving you the facts. As of 2005, Williams Street and Cartoon Network are considered separate entities. Like it or lump it, them's the facts.

Adult Swim is legally its own network. William Street Productions runs and produces the block completely.

Megaman types to nice to be pierre and he does not put up random threads every 5 minutes.

I would love anime on weekdays besides inuyasha at 5:30(which I still watch if I'm up). I would kill to see rosario+vampire and uncut dragonball on CN weekdays.

Hey, there's still that time between [AS] ans HHT isn't there?

Doesn't matter, considering AS is getting 10pm come January.

Yes Pierre3000's spelling and grammar is too good to be Pierre3000/Wacko.

Anyway the block is a good idea but I don't see it happening. However if I could place such a block anywhere it would be Saturday and Sunday mornings. A relaunch of Raising Sun if you will without the Toonami name.

Yes it could. Especially if Viz were to buy ad time to promote the magazine, graphic novels and brand in general within the time frame.

And since Adult Swim is going to continue wasting it at 1AM they should definently move Bleach to this possible Shonen Jump block. It should be marekted at teenagers just like the magazine is rated.

Ditch Rosario, it's not a ideal choice for any CN block and no YGO either...

Launch in January 2009

08:00 - Naruto Shippudden
08:30 - One Piece
09:00 - Bleach
09:30 - D.Gray-man

Equal parts Viz and FUNimation with that so you could have FUNi do ad buys as well.

I would absolutely dispise the idea of a Shounen Jump block. It would be nicer to see unique and original shows that don't have half-assed animation and 2 billion episodes each

As much as I would like to see a Shonen Jump block on CN... I don't see it being much of a reality as CN is focusing on more programs that aren't anime. To me it would be interesting to see the new DBZ and One Piece special that are streaming at JumpLand website on CN, yes in the subtitle form.

It would be a nice place to air One Piece, but only FUNi Piece not 4Piece.

There's a lot of fan service in Rosario + Vampire, so I don't think it would be appropriate to air it on CN...

Yes, shows like Robot Boy and . . . Clone Wars starring Jar Jar Binks.

Buso Renkin is only 26 episodes and it has great animation.

It wouldn't be that bad of an idea for a Shonen Jump Block, though I doubt that would be the name for it, it's kind of weird when you think about it...

"It's the brand new Shonen Jump Block, only here at Cartoon Network!"

"With all the best anime Cartoon Network has to offer, Toonami...er, Shonen Nation is the place to be every weekend. Every Saturday starting at 7...only on Cartoon Network."

Sorry, but whenever I think of anime, I instantly think of Toonami.

If anything it would have to be called... Jump Nation since they can use series that are published in most of the Jump magazine like Monthly Jump, they don't have to be exclusively from Weekly Shonen Jump, it just that they're more well known.

Acceptable! Write the idea down and send it to CN with 10.5 million dollars in the package, and I think we have ourselves a block!

LOLZ@ Actually thinking Rosario + Vampire would ever be aired on CN. Sure, I love that show and all, but it's 10x more adulterated than anything ADULT SWIM shows, so why would CN show it? xD

Well As much as i'd love one...I doubt it will ever happen...I mean CN killing Toonami...was Bassically there way of saying....Forget you 90's generation, action cartoon, & Anime fans....Wer Gonna focus on a completly decencized Y2k generation from now on. And adult Swim Isn't all that Kind to anime/action fans either....SHowing anime's at hours where we have to DVR most of them...& making us wait forever for new Venture bros. I Het to Say it.....But CN over all doesn't really care for our demographic any more I mean were all Teens or adults now....So Besides Star Wars: clone wars & TF: animated....THeres not that many Cartoons on CN that are enjoyable to Multiple Generations.....OH well. Mabye Some Day will get lucky & CN will make the ANime Equivlent to Bommerang...or more cable providers will pick up Funimation Channel. :p :D

If Viz helped fund it, then it might work, but if Viz helps fund it, then we'll most likely only see Viz shows.

8 PM- Naruto
8:30- Hunter x Hunter
9 PM- One Piece (FUNi has full rights now, but they could work with Viz to get updates in Shonen Jump, so they might allow it)
9:30- Buso Renkin

Note, Bleach remains on [adult swim], which is why I don't list it. I would have put Shaman King on the list, but nobody has the rights to it at this time, since 4Kids lost the rights.

Andrew T. Hingson

Bleach should break-away from Adult Swim. It will die a long and painful death there... but I digress.

If Viz was running the show it'd probably look like this.

08:00 - Naruto
08:30 - Naruto
09:00 - The Prince of Tennis (since CN already bought it)
09:30 - Buso Renkin

CN play Hunter x Hunter? I doubt it. Even if Viz pulled for it. Viz might let Bo-Bobo reruns in since no one benefits from those but them due to the manga being the only product available.

And with shows CN already has the best JUMP line-up they could manage (without shows from AS) would be this.

07:00 - Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo
07:30 - Dragonball Z
08:00 - The Prince of Tennis
08:30 - Naruto
09:00 - One Piece
09:30 - One Piece

2 One Piece? You betcha but 2 Naruto or 2 DBZ if that's not possible.

Heck, if I was a CN executive, then I'd make [as] give up Saturday nights period, and make it a mostly-anime and classic action cartoon night, with [as] anime on the schedule.

Andrew T. Hingson
11-26-2008, 08:24 PM
That would easily improve the weekly average of Adult Swim because Saturday is by all means "dead" to the 18+ audience they aim for.

8PM - 6AM should be by all senses... Toonami or Bionix or whatever you want to call it. Or possibly 8PM - 2AM could be action and anime and 2AM - 6AM could be some quality vintage cartoons. Give the whole night an all-ages feel so adults have something to watch once they finally get home and kids and teens have something to watch before then.

07:00 PM - Batman: TB&TB (encore)
07:30 PM - Clone Wars (encore)
08:00 PM - Naruto
08:30 PM - Naruto
09:00 PM - One Piece
09:30 PM - Megas XLR
10:00 PM - Samurai Jack
10:30 PM - Moribito
11:00 PM - Bleach
11:30 PM - Code Geass R2
12:00 AM - Fullmetal Alchemist
12:30 AM - Cowboy Bebop
01:00 AM - The Big O
