I was wondering, does anyone know if there is word on a DVD being released on Home Movies? I ofcourse would be interested in purchasing DVDs of Home Movies. What does everyone think of the prospect of Home Movies being released on DVD?
If a DVD set was made for HM, they could probably put 7 episodes on a DVD, making it a total of 4 DVDs for both seasons. However, I don't know if it would require more DVD space if they were to add extra features (audio commentary!!!, bonus footage, etc). At any rate, I would definately purchase a DVD set for HM if they ever decide to release one (as well as DVD sets for the other AS shows).

I'd buy one with or without bonus features. HM kicks ass.
Might as well find the addresses. Go here, people:

I would love to see this on DVD as well, but I say keep the bonus features to a miminum. The only thing I would like to see is a behind the scenes documentary showing how the show came to be and how they make it and all. It would be interesting to see the voice actors as well. But other than that, if it keeps the price of the set down, I would be content with just the episodes.

I personally would like to see audio commentary on the DVDs. I would like to hear what Brendon Small would have to saw about each of the episodes of Home Movies. I don't know about anyone else, but I would love to get his input on the show in general as well as the episodes and see how it relates to Bredon personally.
I also wouldn't mind seeing outakes, behind the sence footage, ect on the DVDs. But even if the DVDs don't have special features I would still buy them.

This page (http://tv.zap2it.com/spotlight/homemovies/) has pictures of Brendon Small, Melissa Bardin Galsky(Whose B and G I keep mixing up for some reason), Paula Poundstone(This is an old page, mind), and H. Jon Benjamin(YES!), along with interviews. Not much, but eh.

Hell, they could put the whole damn 2nd season on a regular CD with the Flash files.

Thanks for the link! I've been looking for a website that has some indepth information on Home Movies and it's creator Brendon Small. He's a Woody Allen fan too.

I'd love to see them put out a HM DVD!! That would be a great addition to my collection.
I read some of the articles on that link above...and I must say, I had no idea that the whole show was one big improv. I really envy people that have that kind of talent.

That would be pretty spiffy. I'd love to have the dvd come out, with the final episode of dr. katz as a bonus, and have interviews, etc.

I'd also love to see it on a set of DVDs. But, realistically, I just can't see it happening. I got the impression that not that many TV shows make it to DVD, and those that do have to be very big successes (like The Simpsons, The X Files, or The Sopranos).
I'm not saying HM is any less deserving of going to DVD than those shows, but from a business perspective, I'm not sure producing them would be the wisest move.
But, hopefully, I'll be proven wrong.

There have been a few shows that were either short lived or not that big and they've been able to release DVDs. Some of which include Clerks: TAS and Family Guy (I'm sure this show is considered popular by the people who watch it, but considering that it was cancelled after 2 or 3 years, I guess the network wouldn't consider it "big").
And also, you would be suprised at the amount of DVDs that are out now, despite if there is a big demand for them or not. If they can release b-movie/horror and porno movies on DVD, then I would certainlly hope that Home Movies would get released on DVD as well.
I can see your viewpoint though about a Home Movies DVD set only attracting a certain demographic. I don't even know if Cartoon Network or Soup2Nuts would be the people to release a DVD set. I would think that since DVDs are very much "in" as well as the over obundence of many "non-worthy" DVDs, it would be a nice gesture if a DVD set was released on Home Movies, even if it didn't have any special features (which I'm sure would save the DVD makers a little bit of money).

personally I notice alotta crappy cult shows make it to DVD as well, and I assume that is becuase no one plans to re-air them for syndication but they have enough of a following to make a profit on DVD, but also alot of good shows make it to DVD as well, home Movies stands in its own category....good...but unknown, similar to the category most cult shows fall in except HM is actually good. The fact that it probably won't be re aired after it's run on AS ends, may either increase or decrease it's chances on DVD. If we wern't considering WB owned (err at least I think they do but maybe I'm wrong) the home video rights to "Home Movies" I would say the show's chances of making it to DVD would be higher simply becuase it will likely never pick up a larger audience than it has now, and there for would not be aired again for syndication, but it also has a large enough fan base that would make it succesful on DVD. BUT this IS WB people, or maybe it's not, if someone knows for sure who owns it correct me, all I know is WB's TV on DVD had not been up to snuff, and though they keep promising it will be up there with Fox's efforts or better by years end, I still await further announcments after the Friends season 1 announcment, but have yet to hear any, except the animation stuff, but then again they treat all animation like it's kid stuff, we all remember how far they went with Batman Beyond on DVD ::has waited for BB voulme 2 for over a year now::

Hmm...guess I gotta get out to Suncoast more often.
But, while you both make good arguments, I still have some doubts. Wouldn't shows like Clerks: TAS and Family Guy have rich studios behind them. Now, I'm not sure who would handle any DVD plans but whether its the WB, CN, or Soup2Nuts, I don't think they have anywhere near the money of Fox or ABC (ABC did Clerks: TAS, didn't they?).
Or, would producing/distributing the DVDs be cheaper/easier than I think it is? I really don't know enough about the subject to say for sure.
Again, I'm hoping for this just as much as anybody else here is, but I'm reluctant to get my hopes up.
