A second eclipse caused some of the heroes, including Claire and Elle, to lose their abilities.

It airs tonight at 9 PM Eastern.

You know...

The only possible benefit that I can fathom from this situation is Claire being killed, which we all know won't happen.

I am not really fond of the idea of the Heroes losing their powers, in fact it really rather irritates me.

Not that you can't be a Hero without powers, but it certainly makes life a bit more interesting, not to mention the show.

They could potentially do this well, but I won't hold my breath.

My hopes? Their powers are only taken away during the eclipse, and when it is gone then all of them will get their powers back, including Peter, and they will be stronger, and they can even let some people like Ando have some powers, I'd really like to see the red lightening.

They could potentially do this well, but I won't hold my breath. Personally, I'm skipping this episode all together, as the whole "Heroes losing powers due to the eclipse" thing sounds like another "bringing the show down" moment for this season, which this season already has way too many of.

Personally, I think the powers that Ando had in the "bad future" are more due to him taking the formula than "eclipse" powers.

Really, does this show need Peter, Arthur, Sylar, and Hiro to be even more powerful? I'm still on the fence if I'm going to watch this tonight.

They need to create a drinking game to go along with "Heroes".

Rules.
1. Every time a character says something cryptic or suspenseful, take a drink.

You'll be drunk before the first commercial break.

lmao, go HRG! Funny how the one person there who didn't have powers originally, is the one who was left standing

No powers? eh, so what, we can still take him! 1 min later, both of them are on the ground. Shows you how much they abuse their powers. No experience with physical attacks.

Seth Green?

Speedy is crippled, ah!

HRG seems "obsessed" or maybe im just forgetting how he was when he was the bad guy.

Interesting twist with Daphne's story, wasn't expecting that. And lol @ HRG trying to snipe Elle/Sylar, they really chose the wrong dude to mess with. And wow the hiro/ando stuff is trudging along it feels like.

And wow, that preview for next week sucked so much. What were they thinking?

I wouldn't say it SUCKED, but that is mainly because the idea of Claire being killed makes me ridiculously happy...

As for the episode, like I thought, it was pretty terrible.

The only moments I enjoyed were with Elle and Sylar, I am really enjoying their team up.

Mohinder was absolutely disgusting during this episode, and he continues to annoy me.

I am sick of the angsty Petrelli brothers fighting.

Daphne's problem? Okay, good twist, still lame.

Parkman was a creeper, who hides in a field of corn?

Ando was cool...for the most part.

And the only reason I want Peter to have his powers back is because I actually want some freaking fighting this season. I am sick of all the talk, I want some action, whens the last time we got a really good fight?

Aldrius

That was actually pretty good, it got better as it went along.

I thought Matt trying to read the guys mind was really funny. "Why are you turning your head like that?"

What happened in the preview, as I decided to pass on this episode?

Claire lost her invulnerability and got shot. The preview was of Claire in the emergency room, with the doctors about to lose her.

Question,

Was Micah essentially written out of the show? I mean, I'd really like to see more of him...

Pretty much, they might bring him back but really he has no one in the cast with a strong connection and he got his send off, so there wouldn't be a point to keep him. He only showed in the first episode( or something like that ) at a funeral home for Nikki and he helped Traci get some information.

Question,

Was Micah essentially written out of the show? I mean, I'd really like to see more of him... At the moment, he's out of the picture due to both of his parents being dead. However, that doesn't mean he's completely written out of the show yet (especially if the writers decide to bring the third triplet sister into the mix).

@ wonderwall: There's a chance that we'll probably need another 8th Wonder moment that doesn't involve Hiro and Ando, so that could give him another reason for him to show up.

Maybe I was just paying too much attention to detail...but did anyone else notice how Ando's accent changed when he was speaking a lot of english dialogue to Matt in comparison to how his english sounds when talking to Hiro??? It seems more like James Kyson Lee was unable to keep his engrish accent while doing so many lines at once.

This one was pretty decent. The whole idea of them losing powers because of an eclipse is as ridiculous as they come...but it's interesting to see how the characters work things out without their powers. This one was decent but it's not enough to gaurantee a bright future for the series. In fact I see (get ready for the pun) an eclipse.

Overall, a decent episode but the whole eclipse thing could ruin the show in long run...and when I say long run I mean the rest of the season...because I doubt the show could last another season. Thoughts of fourth season are already giving me nightmares.

They've got people in this show that can fly, the whole premise is pretty ridiculous. Solar bodies control plenty of stuff here on earth, so why wouldn't an eclipse affect them? Well it wouldn't, but people will never develop the ability to fly or walk through walls either.

My only problem with the eclipse thing is that Nathan flew 6 months BEFORE the eclipse in season 1, not on the day of the eclipse... and why is no one questioning that two eclipses occured within a 6 month period? THAT is completely preposterous.

As preposterous as trying to make sense of a comic book show. And Nathans powers are artificial.

^But both Nathan and Peter agreed that Nathan flew the same day as the eclipse.

I thought it was 16 months.

Now that you mentioned it, yeah it did seem that way.

Eh, it wasn't that bad of an episode. It was cool to see HRG be a bad ass again and to see Hiro and Ando actually interact with part of the main cast. Although I'm still curious whose drawing the 9th Wonder comics, unless Issac did most of these in advance.

And just throwing it out there, but is it just me or does Sylar's and Elle's relationship seem to be lacking something? I mean Elle goes from "he's a good boy not a monster" in the flashback to "you killed my father!" chained up, then to tender moments while he's trying to learn to use her ability to "be a bad boy and take stuff" today. I don't know maybe I'm just missing something.

That also makes no sense, why would Nathan's powers be effected if they're artificial?

I'm beginning to think that it's too late for this show to be saved. I haven't seen such poor character development and poor execution in a long time.

Yeah, but I think they mean powers really coming to the forefront. Like, he flew before the eclipse, but he wasn't able to consciously control it until the sun went buh-bye.

...and, yeah, the two complete, global solar eclipses happening in less than a year annoyed me. But I've long since learned to ignore the laws of the universe while watching Heroes.

I'm guessing in a future episode Kring will reveal a character who's the true mastermind behind all of this since he can control the moon's orbit.

Seriously. I wouldn't put it past him.

Aldrius
11-25-2008, 10:55 AM
That also makes no sense, why would Nathan's powers be effected if they're artificial?Well, the formula apparently activates the gene, so they're artificial only so far as how they came to be. What Mohinder seemed to imply a few episodes ago is that the formula activates the latent ability, and it's the same whether it was activated naturally or not.

As preposterous as trying to make sense of a comic book show.Well forgive me if I'd like the moon's orbit to be consistent.

Saying 'the eclipse activates and takes away our powers' is one thing. Nobody really has super powers anyway. Saying 'an eclipse occurs every six months/two years' is another. Especially when they take hundreds of years to repeat themselves.

Honestly, I think the writing in this episode was pretty good, if you just ignore the continuity mistakes, and there weren't even too many of those, the only major one was Nathan flying the day of the eclipse when... none of them got their powers the day of the eclipse.

You mean besides sanity? That's just what this show needs: its two loopiest characters makin' babies. I can't tell who is manipulating whom at this point.

I can't wait to see what pearls of wisdom the Robot Chicken guys offer Hiro and Ando. I just hope it's something awesome.

My guess is that the everybody's power will come back as soon as the eclipse ends. Which will suck for Mohinder, because that means he's going to start peeling again. I am basing this on the supposition that the return of his invulnerability is the only way Sylar (still can't think of him as "Gabriel") is going to live through next week's episode.

That's a pretty big continuity mistake to just ignore, seems the writing is just getting worse.

DANGIT MOHINDER!

What you do in the privacy of your lab is your own business but don't take it public and shove it in the face of millions of Americans.

Maybe I'm wrong in my thinking, but since Heroes is not a forensic show, I should be able to watch it without the fear of coming face-to-face with great green globs of greasy grimy gopher guts. I'm still grossed out.

Play with your meat off-camera, please. And another thing, quit narrating. No one has ever cared about what you have to say.

Hardly. The character interactions and the general tension and progression that occurred this week (er... last week?) was actually GOOD.

Claire stopped being irritating and whining (after the first twenty minutes at least...), that alone is HUGE. :p I can take a few continuity mistakes for that.
