Is the Tenchi in ASA less editted?
And did Big O get bad ratings? Just wondering why it's been gone for so long.
It's much more adult than Outlaw Star or Tenchi.

Outlaw Star and Tenchi are still edited to Toonami standards, unfortuneatly....I think Big O got pretty decent ratings, the only problem with it is that it has only 13 episodes. Tenchi is five times that long. Tenchi and Outlaw Star should be taken off Adult Swim if they're still so heavily edited; they've been practically run into the ground anyway.

[indent]Big O has been gone for awhile because it has already had 6 airings since April. According to news stories during its initial run its ratings were good enough to earn it an unplanned third airing at midnight during its initial run. Tenchi on the other hand is just now in its sixth airing even though it has been a part of Toonami since the summer before last, it definitely has not been run into the ground when compared to Big O (not that Big O has either). As for why they chose Outlaw Star over Big O I would guess it is because they already had two giant robot type shows on the block and they wanted some more diversity. All that being said I personnally think Big O should be on instead of Outlaw Star. In my opinion it is more adult than that show and more adult than parts of Tenchi also (I think Tenchi Muyo! is fairly adult).

13 episodes is a good thing, not a bad thing. First of all, it's cheaper to license. Second, the show doesn't go stale before it ends, and that happens a lot in anime. 13 episodes cuts down on the number of throwaway episodes, and is more likely to attract viewers due to the lower time investment.
Get your petitions ready, kiddies, because there is absolutely no way they're going to run all 112 episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho. Even if they ran a new episode every single week, even in the summer, the show wouldn't be complete until sometime in May or June 2004. That's a hell of a commitment, and the show isn't even that good.
Now, with 13 episodes, you can run two different series twice (one broadcast, one rerun) in one 52-week period. And it's cheaper.

They WILL completely run through Yu Yu Hakusho. They'll most likely do exactly what they do with DBZ, double the timeslot. I'd expect this to happen in about half a year, when FUNimation completes more episodes so they can actually do that. But, they WILL go through it, just like they are with DBZ.

I love BIG O. This series is awesome. However, it is pointless to show it on the Adult Swim. I own the episodes, whether it's the official releases from Ban Dai, or some pathetic bootleg poorly subtitled VCDs I didn't expect (Present from an auction site), Toonami is not too far off from the original. There is rarely any cursing, and the blood is the only other thing censored.
I still dno't think taking out some of the Toonami changes of Outlaw Star and Tenchi would be that expensive...as long as their work was somehow kept for re-editing. Otherwise, one could only dream. :(

[indent]The fact that Toonami didn't have to edit out much (I have all the DVDs also) doesn't have anything to do with how adult the show is. It's the actual content, ideas, and themes that give the show its adult appeal. The fact that Outlaw Star has to have more stuff edited out in no way makes it more adult. I would probably even say that some Batman episodes are more adult than parts of Outlaw Star and Tenchi even though nothing has to be edited from those.

I don't like Big O, but I will admit even in it's editted state it's more adult than OS or Tenchi.
If I were WS I would've put on Big O and uncut Gundam Wing in the place of Outlaw Star and Tenchi.

The way I see it, the less episodes the better. Remember, these shows are supposed to be filler, taking up space until new shows can be found (well, I've heard no official word, but everyone here keeps saying it -_-)
Big O is arguably the most mature show Toonami's showed. Outlaw Star at its heart is a show with a rather immature plot (quest for a magical device that grants wishes, complete with a bunch of fillers) that has some risque aspects in there like the hooker in the first ep, the nudity, etc... That doesn't make it bad, of course not. I love the show up to episode 24. But it does make Big O a more mature show IMO, which lacks the goofy quest and its stand alones are intelligent insights into aspects of the city unlike Outlaw Star where we got cactus and mouse bomber eps.
Since its not like either would be re-edited anyway, Big O would have been a much better fit IMO.
Big O was awsome! I loved it. I wish they would make more....

Seems reasonable to me. Big O is a pretty high-quality piece of work- its got great characters, an interesting angle, a solid dub, and a definite sense of style and identity. I'd love to see it on.

Did anyone see my post on the Toonami forum?? If not, check this out:

If true, it's yet another reason why Big O would be great on Adult Swim.

Thanks for the link. It's about bloody time. I hope they don't screw it up by making any changes- art style, etc.
