I've been wondering since Jim Harvey is just shy of 10,000 posts, how many posts will it count for you? Is it infinite or to a certain point?

well, that is a good question. One I actually asked Brian once. And he didn't know, if I recall right. So I did a "test" on myself, where one Sunday morning when nobody else was around, I reset my post total to 1,000,000 (bwahahahahahaha!) but it showed up some really odd number...like 637 or something totally off of what I had put in there. But the way things are going, we shouldn't have to wait long til we see what happens once it hits 10,000. It might be a bit of a wait to see a legitimate one million post count here, tho.

[a brief pause...] Actually, the max number is 65535.

By the rate Jim's going, we wouldn't have to worry about this post limit for 65 years :eek:

No need to worry about my rate. When I go on hiatus, I'm dropping my number to zero. So whoever is behind me is who yer gonna have to keep an eye on. :)

Hey Jim, you may be interested to know that version 3 of this board software will allow individual members to not show their post count! I know that's a feature you've always wanted.

And now he's leaving! :(

Neato! But still - I'll be setting it back to zero. I am anxious to see the 3.0 version get set up, though.

Will Toonzone be using "version 3"? If so, will a member with a hidden post count still have theirs visible in the profile and the top posters list? :confused:

From what I understand, the posts will still be counted, but just not visible under your avatar.

Also, and this is from what I understand of the new program, there is a "flood deterrent" feature in the software that will reduce an poster's post count to zero if they post more than 50 times a day.

I too will be a bit sad to see the postcount showing go, but I think it's for the best-it puts everyone on an equal footing. That's always good.

Say, before we get that postcount thing ready, will a mod jack my postount up to #1 on the top ten...? I always wanted to be the first... ;)

...and for the record, I'm happy that "50 post reset thing" never happened when I was a newbie rush-posting or else I'd be around just 100 posts nowadays... :eek:
..but why will we have to restart post counts? Is it to deterrent flood posting?

we are restarting post counts??? I think you misunderstood...Jim is resetting his to zero when he leaves on hiatus. Nobody else's is being reset to zero as far as I know.

I must apologize for my mistake-I was mentioning the "50 posts a day and thier account is set to zero" you mentioned would be in version 3. My bad. ^^;;

The way I understand it, members get to choose whether or not they hide their post count. It isn't done automatically. At least that's the way I hope it is...

As far as I know, there is only one person who posted more than 50 times a day many days in a row - and I will not mention names. He did not post in this thread.
