Until someone mentioned the new episodes coming later this month, I had entirely forgotten about this series. Its a real shame too, because I thought it was kind of good. I think I have seen the first few episodes that establish the plot (I have yet to see the Batman Beyond ones).
I'm glad the series didn't get canned, because it has a lot of potiental to become as epical as Batman Beyond did. So what did you all think of the series? and why?

although i don't watch it anymore, it cannot not be as epical as BB. i do believe that the show is one of the better shows compared to other KWB shows which tells more of KWB programming than Zeta's quality. JCA is now the best that KWB has to offer.

Even though I love The Zeta Project, I have to agree with oranthal. TZP has the potential to be like BB, but it just isn't there yet.
And here's a little-known fact that should be interesting to discuss. ^_^ Did you know that the original concept for TZP was supposed to be much darker than Batman Beyond?

Really? Care to elaborate?
I know that TZP is the brainchild of Robert Goodman, who was one of my fave writers on STAS, TNBA and BB. So it doesn't surprise me that his original concept might have been a lot darker, and that KWB basically forced the changes that many of us regret. What can you tell us about that original concept?

I don't know much about it. I got this information from an anonymous source who said that the original idea for TZP was to make it "even darker and more paranoid than Batman Beyond." That would have been very interesting to watch, but Kid's WB would have never let them do that with the show. Even if they had, I'm sure the series would have ended faster than BB did.
Still, can you imagine a darker Zeta Project? Do you think TZP would have more fans if they had gone with the original concept?

hmm.....a darker Zeta. That would be interesting to see. Not that I don't like the series as it is, because I do!

I think it would have been great, especially with the paranoia feel pushed up a notch, A show where everyone is a suspect (a la 24) is an intruiging idea for the series. Make the BGs a bit darker, and amp the paranoia feel, and it would be a bigger smash. I really like that idea!

That may be what they're going to do with season 2. They have been talking about more suspense in the plots, better animation, etc. The new season sounds better than the first. ^_^

Did anyone see the commercials for Zeta this morning? I like Zeta's new look! :D

He's got a new look now?
I only saw about 7 or 8 episodes, and after that I just stopped. Unlike BB, I didn't really think it was worth getting up in the morning for.
Now that it's on at a new time, I might check it out. Hopefully it has gotten better...

His animation has been changed, and he looks more like Ovi Nedelcu's original concept now. They've added shadowing, made him look more 3D and robotic. I don't have a screen shot (still have no idea how to make them :( ), but I did draw a picture of the new look as soon as I saw it. ^_^ This isn't completely accurate since it's the first picture I've drawn of Zee's new look.

Just don't be surprised when you see the "season premire", it's a season one episode.

That's right - I forgot about that. But we got some season 2 episodes airing on March 30th, the first two part episode for the series. I am looking forward to this episode more than Absolute Zero.

"Still, can you imagine a darker Zeta Project? Do you think TZP would have more fans if they had gone with the original concept?"
Yeah, I think The Zeta Project would be more successful if it had been darker. I also think that, since Zeta obviously takes place in the DC Universe, in the same continuity as Batman/Superman/Justice League/Batman Beyond, Zeta could use a few more episodes with tie-ins to those TV shows, like the Zeta episode that featured Batman Beyond. For example, here are a few Zeta episode ideas I've had for awhile:
(Z1) In this stunning two-parter, Zeta and Ro travel to Atlantis in an attempt to find the perfect place to hide away from the US Government. Of course, by Batman Beyond/Zeta's time, all the "surface world" governments are well aware of Atlantis's existence (and, in fact, Atlantis now has Observer Status at the UN, like Vatican City and Switzerland do today), but that doesn't mean relations are good. Atlanteans still don't trust anyone who lives on the "surface world", and when the US Government comes looking for Zeta, a diplomatic situation could quickly escalate into war between the US and Atlantis!!! In the end, Zeta and Ro leave Atlantis before they cause any more trouble.
(Z2) In this episode, Zeta and Ro meet the gorilla from Batman Beyond, "Speak No Evil." All three of them go to Gorilla City to find sanctuary. However, the gorillas in Gorilla City don't like the genetically engineered 'primitive' gorilla; they think of him as a Frankenstein-like monster. This, of course, causes trouble. And, to make matters worse, the African country that (through UN auspices) allows Gorilla City to exist in its borders comes looking for Zeta, in the hopes of using Zeta to build an army of Zeta-clones for their military.
(Z3) I don't have any specific ideas on this one, but basically, Zeta and Ro go to Metropolis, and meet Superman, or the entire JLU (with or without Batman Beyond?).
What do you think? :D
