Image Comics Solicitations for February 2009
(http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=18820)
My comments:
- Both Soul Kiss and Bad Dog sound interesting enough for me to really look forward to the trades of both. Might pre-order issue #1 of Bad Dog, though.
- The cover to The Great Unknown #1 (http://images.comicbookresources.com/solicits/imagecomics/200902/sm/TheGreatUnknown.jpg) is intriguing, but I don't think it quite works as well as it would like to. Unfortunately, I also have almost no interest in the comic.
- I would like to come up with some valid justification why Amber Atoms appeals to me, but the reality is that the cover image (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=solicits/imagecomics/200902/atoms_01_cover.jpg) is of a pretty redhead with a space gun and a sword, and that just might be all that's attracting my attention 'cuz the solicitation text isn't colossally original. And, I'm vaguely ashamed to admit, said pretty redhead might be enough. It's all I can come up with to justify my Red Sonja addiction, anyway. I might pre-order issue #1 of this, too.
EDIT: OK, a quick google turned up an Amber Atoms art gallery (http://www.kellyyatesart.com/atoms1.html), which includes some nice shots of Amber (http://www.kellyyatesart.com/art/AA-pg8_color.jpg) herself (http://www.kellyyatesart.com/art/postcard.jpg), plus space bugs (http://www.kellyyatesart.com/art/insect.jpg), cool spaceships (http://www.kellyyatesart.com/art/stingray.jpg), and best of all SPACE GORILLAS (http://www.kellyyatesart.com/art/razza.jpg). Sign me up!
- Retro! (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=solicits/imagecomics/200902/jerseygods_cov01.jpg) And that's not even the Mike Allred cover (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=solicits/imagecomics/200902/jerseygods_cov01b_allred.jpg)!
- Definitely getting Elephantmen #21. Plus, Samurai Elephant (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=solicits/imagecomics/200902/elephantmen021cover.jpg)!
- The winner of the "Who Wants to be a Superheroine?" contest gets its debut issue this month with Incredible Journey #1. Preordering this in singles as a matter of principle, and I really need to dust off at least one of the things I submitted and see if I can turn it into something real.
A max of 4 issues to pre-order, so that'll probably be, like, $20 or so.
