View Full Version : Plot Holes In Home Movies?

I noticed a couple things in the new season of Home Movies:

In the Politics episode, Shannon is at their school... I thought he went to a different school... Remember the other Shannon episode? Melissa was talking about how even Shannon's school had heard of the fight.

And in the recent Field Trip episode, how come Jason is on the trip with them? They're not in the same class. And, if I'm not mistaken, he's at least a whole year younger then them.

Plus, where did they get all those fancy props from if they're poor little kids?

Also, what about Josie? Why does she have totally different skin color than her mom or brother? It's as if Josie has a different DAD than Brandon... HMMM.... Interesting. But why won't they say anything about it?

Anyone else notice these things, or any other stuff like it?

And another thing, don't call him Brandon, it's Brendon.

the thing with Brendon's sister is odd, but i figure that was something that wasn't talked about. remember when she was talking to him about relationship break ups and she said something like 'it's not about you and your sister... well...' and then changed the subject. maybe there is more there. i like not knowing though. i mean, his parents must have split before she was born too.

anyway, it's just a cartoon! how come the Coach ever got the job? Don't analyse too much, just enjoy.

think i'l lurk tomorrow.

Just what does Brendon do with all those films he shoots?

Does he enter them into various film festivals (and on the off chance that he won one of them, wouldn't he have gotten a prize from them already)?

Does he have them in some film library?

What's he saving them for?

Does anyone have the answers?

Maybe Shannon switched schools.

Maybe it was a multi-class trip. I was on a few of those in grade school.

They're not poor, exactly. They're middle-class. Melissa's dad is a pretty good real estate agent, and Brendon's mom is likely getting child support.

She was eaten by a nomadic pack of rabid wolves.

The show is not meant to be taken this seriously. Enjoy it for what it is. The show has taken on a remarkably different tone since Season 2 started, and they made a lot of changes in the show to accomodate their new style. I'm liking Season 2 a lot.

He has entered some contest--and won. It was shown in one ep, with Brendan and his co-stars recieving a prize, and in "Dad" he showed his old man's girlfriend the trophy he'd recieved (I guess as head actor/director he keeps it, unless he and Jas and Mel have joint custody?) along with his bookshelf full of tapes. She wasn't too impressed.

Well as far as Josie goes, I don't think she's really an important character. It might have been overlooked as to why she was never a part of the new season. As for her skin color, I had always assumed she had a different dad. I mean there was nothing in the plot that said her dad was also Brendon's dad, right?

The only real mystery I guess is the whole Shannon deal. I think the writers wanted him to be around more, so they kind of made him appear at Brendon's school. Oh well.

shannon could have always just skipped his school and snuck onto the bus for the field trip there are a million possibilities if there was an answer has it been mentioned that he has a different school in season 2? more than likely just to make it easier to get him in the show they just threw him into the same school

I think they're slowly eliminating Josie from the series. Which sucks (me, I like her), but what are you gonna do, y'know? There's a million things about Josie that are off- heck, in "Class Trip", who the hell took care of her? I think they're just gonna pretty much ignore her from now on.

Oh, and BTW Zorak, I'm all for politcally incorrect humor, but you gotta draw the line SOMEWHERE.

"shannon could have always just skipped his school and snuck onto the bus for the field trip "

Shannon wasn't on the school trip... was he? Was it ever said he was in Brendon's school, or merely just there to cause trouble.

Also, most of the props are home made, if you notice most of the background props are cardboard boxes. in their films they're props, but when they're not shooting, they revert back to painted boxes, mostly with fragile on them.

Josie could easily have been looked after by a babysitter for the school trip, or by another parent.

best advice... just sit back and watch and enjoy. the thing with animation is that it allows you to suspend reality.

any news on series 3?

And I thought I was the only one who complained about this kind of crap. I brought up the Josie thing here (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20200&perpage=20&pagenumber=2), and also nitpicked some small points in this weeks Review of ASC thread.

As for the Josie thing, I think we all concluded that she was made into some sort of Health Shake by ZorakFan.

Yes, that Josie thing is real old now. It was old when you did it a second time.

Yeah, I think Josie will perhaps turn up one episode more and be gone forever. Oh well, in the first season she was pretty awesome -- she added to the overall atmosphere. Now she's just a memory. Only on "Business & Pleasure" and gone forever this season.

Yeah, It's ancient now thanks to my new avatar. I tend to drag things out. I'm glad she's gone now. Something about that baby was...off. Either the 666 on her forehead, mysterious gene pool, the fact that she needed glasses. (Babies need glasses? Damn that chucky rugrat) Anywho, I'm enjoying the 2nd season more in general, mostly thanks to better writing, but Josie's abscense doesn't hurt.

Oh, yeah....

*HOHOHO!*

OVERDONE SEA LAB QUOTE:

"Like veal...only babies."

More on our new favorite author, Jonathan Swift! (http://www.hertford.ox.ac.uk/alumni/swift.htm)

I love his cookbooks. Hohoho!

*Boooo!*

Note: I'm surprised no one's made a reference to 'How to serve man' yet.

I don't think Josie's going to be going anywhere, it just seems that way.

Josie isn't a main character(Expect the marbles episode), she is more of a "backround" thing witch you see with Paula in the kitchen. Since this season doesnt have half the amount of kitchen scenes, you rarely see Josie.

...I like the cannibalism aspect better. Whatever marinades your veal, I suppose.

Who cares? Just enjoy the show, it wasn't made to be over-analized.
