Well, here it is!
At least for me, who become a Takahiko Inoue fan with Vagabond & REAL, now to see where he got his start; with TOEI & CrunchyRoll streaming the first 2 episodes and assumed to continue to do so.
I like where it's going.
The cliche hints of romance is a bit bland to me but it does progress Hanamichi's actions.
Oh yes!
And it's just in time for Basketball season!
So who else is game?

Ive heard nothing but good things about this manga/anime/series. Or when i mention it to people, its usually in high regard.
Im guessing to me, its like the basketball equivalent to Initial D, which Prince of Tennis is the tennis equivalent to Initial D as well. So if i like Initial D, ill probably like Slam Dunk even more...

I love it. I mean, personally, I dislike basketball, but Slam Dunk makes it seem so fun and interesting. I can see how it spurned the game's popularity in Japan. :D
And Sakuragi is such a fantastic character. I love how you can see shades of him in future Shonen Jump characters. Intentional or not, you can't help but connect him to Ichigo (from Bleach) or Sanji (from One Piece). Admittantly he's a bit of an archetype, but, still, there are such distinct similarities that it's hard to overlook.
...just the start of the series, though. I can't wait until things leave the "introduction" phase.
See that's my deal.
From what I've seen of Prince of Tennis,I loved. (My favorite show that has been on Jetstream)
But my favorite mainstream Sport is Basketball.
Of course, comparing Prince to Dunk is well.. yeah.
Besides being JUMP Sports series they're pretty different.

I've been reading the manga in Shonen Jump, so it's good to see the anime.

I've seen all 100+ episodes of this series (dubbed in Cantonese) and have read most of the manga. It is by far one of my all-time favorite anime/manga series. I'm still hoping that Toei would animate the rest of the series one day. The anime didn't go thru the whole series and stops at a certain point of the books.

I've watched the first two episodes of this. This brought back really good memories from the VHS fansub days. Everything about this show was entertaining, from Hanamichi's attitude to the whole portrayal of the sport of basketball. It looks like Inoue and the Toei staff really did their homework as to how basketball players move on the court. :)
If there ever was a American dub of this...
Justin Cook would have to be Hanamichi.
