At this rate we'll be completely caught up.

But, but... I haven't caught up with the first Naruto Nation yet. :sweat:

44 volumes have been released in Japan so far. Volume 45 should be out soon.

44 just came out this week and Japan has Naruto on an every 3 months schedule. So something like this:

45 = Feb
46 = May
47 = Aug

So the US is caught up? 0_0;

Not just yet. But when 45 comes out in July over here, the US will only be 1 volume behind

So, if they have 44, we're 12 volumes behind?

I got caught up (buying) it back in december, when I got the box set for christmas, and I've been buying the volumes around release since. Just read 32 last night. I just started reading the series in July (yeah, I was slow starting to read it for some reason) so yeah, I caught up pretty fast, not counting what's running in the US magazine.

So, yeah, while I tend to hate Naruto FANS, the manga itself isn't too bad, so I'm looking forward to getting more, and if we get another mass release, hooray

So wait. Does this mean that Naruto will be getting less chapters in Jump after this happens? I wonder if Viz really wants to get that close to the japanese release.

Hey, if fan translators can have the latest chapters up and translated days after each chapter is released, I don't see why VIZ can't do the same. It'd be pretty neat to get the books released so close to that of the Japanese.

Honestly folks this is a good thing. All the series in Shonen Jump can probably get their fair share of chapters per issue now.

While I don't really care about post-timeskip Naruto at all, I have to agree that having the american release being like, one volume behind the japanese one would be cool. It would also make scanlations redundant for anyone but the extremely impatient, as one would be able to get the official translation on paper not too long after the release of the chapter in Japan. (Okay, so it would probably be about 6 months, but still...)

Yahahaha! Now they shall have litterally no choice but to slow down! Hopefully now some other series can get some spot light.

Scirel
11-06-2008, 03:27 PM
You Gaiez, I think they might be preparing to do something unprecedented, in having the american and Japanese Naruto nearly simultaneous in release.

With this, If SJ has 4 chapters per month, we'll be mere CHAPTERS behind japan.

They might even release them online, as Japan does with mobile phones.

Meanwhile, series like One Piece and the others get overlooked.........ARG. :mad:

Bleach is close enough to the japanese release that it's fine. I think it's only about 8 volumes behind and has been for a while.

OP, however, really needs a boost. 4Kids truly PHAILS epically for screwing up OP's chances for popularity in america.

That site lists it at #17 for sales in Summer.
Of course Naruto is #1, so I guess that's reason enough for this Naruto Nation thing.

Why do they want to speed up the manga when the anime is so far behind? I mean, I guess it's not Viz's fault since they seem to be dubbing the episodes fast enough it's just that Cartoon Network won't air them. I bet the kids are wondering why the show isn't matching up with the comic. I really don't know what they're going to do with the franchise if Cartoon Network doesn't get their act together. I doubt Nick or Disney would air Shippuden. Maybe Sci-Fi or Adult Swim but those are kind of long shots. How far are the DVD releases?

I wouldn't be surprised if this was some kind of ploy to get Cartoon Network to want Naruto Shippuden.

Viz Makes more money if the Manga is released first and the Anime second.

Jeez, talk about going overboard VIZ...Most fans won't be able to keep up with that fast of a release schedule. Hell, many are still recovering from the first Naruto Nation, as if that wasn't enough...Why do they want to be that close to the Japanese release, anyway? Shouldn't milking what's already available be the logical thing to do, business way? Or maybe, just maybe, this is their way of trying to counter scanlations...

Mynd Hed

Bingo. I think so many Naruto fans are using less-than-legal means to keep up with the Japanese version that, by the time the official American release rolls around, it feels like old news and sales suffer.

The companies have been going for a simulcast release in a lot of aspects. It wouldn't surprise me if this was one of the ways of countering scantlations, subs, etc.

Now if only they could fast forward their other releases as well.

No, but the quality of their translations and ever-increasing usage of dub-terms does stop some of them from buying it...

Buh, isn't "The Promise That Could Not Be Kept" the last actual canon episode? It's in the 10th set. :|

Anyways, my wallet's definitely going to suffer. :crying: Couldn't they just release a volume a month instead of doing what they're going to do? While I'm excited that we're getting more Naruto more quickly, I'm not sure can afford what they're planning to do.

Mynd Hed
11-09-2008, 01:26 PM
Well, it's kind of a Catch-22, isn't it? Release too slowly, and fans get impatient and turn to fansubs / scanlations. Release too quickly, and you risk flooding the market and overwhelming fans' pocketbooks. I'm sure Viz simply thinks this is the lesser of two evils.

And really, if you can't afford to keep up with the pace they're releasing them at, so what? It's not like they won't still be in print when you DO have the extra cash to spend. At least this way you have the option of buying at your own pace.

Exactly, the whole argument of 'it's too fast!' is sort of pointless as you can buy at your own pace, it's just there in case you have the extra $200.

This is wonderful news :D! I won't be buying the manga books though, I'll be reading them for free at/inside my local Barnes & Noble bookstore ^_^.

They ironically somewhat support reading for free in their bookstores, what with the couches and many chairs and benches and tables with chairs xD.

That's what Libraries are for. If you're library doesn't have it, ask a friend. If they don't have it, DO WITHOUT. Don't abuse the bookstore. If I saw someone doing that, I'd kick them in the back of the head. Fortunatly, the bookstores I go to at least kick people out for it. There's no room in this world for parasites.

Reading the manga in a bookstore is no better than going online and downloading fansubs of Death Note or any other licensed show.

It beckons the question why they have dozens of places to sit in the stores. I've done it thousands of times and I've never gotten in trouble, heck everybody does it, not to say it's usually a good excuse but I don't see people getting kicked out of the store.

OtakuX

The Boarders I go to kicks you out if you spend too much time there just reading. Heck, I got someone kicked out once, I had to leave, and they were reading the only copy of a book I wanted. I got an employee, who told the guy to either buy the book or leave the store. He started crying as they kicked him out, and he had to be at least 16.

Yeesh, that's why I like B&N, they don't give me flap and I don't tend to down an entire book at each visit. Heck, it took almost six visits for my mom to once finish reading some 200+ page novel, but I digress...

I'm not sure what Viz plans to do with the Magizine so I'll wait before deciding what I'll do.

That's what I love about B&N too. Although they seem to have a grudge against me ever since I ordered $300 worth of manga books and never paid for them. They haven't banned me from the store though, just banned me from ordering in the store.

I could still order online if I wanted to.
