EDIT: Ack. Can a mod fix the topic title to say: Pretty Cure: "You Want Us to Transform? No Way!" Talkback, and delete this comment when you do?
Crunchyroll and Toei are going to have the first two episodes up today, so I'm going to risk putting up two talkbacks for this. If there's not enough discussion, I'll probably just continue this in one massive thread. Episode will be up at around 12:00PM, although might be later according to the remaining time... Anyways, show page is located here (http://www.crunchyroll.com/library/Pretty_Cure). As with the other releases, it'll be subtitled.

Episode 1: "You Want Us to Transform? No Way!"
Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro are two average middle school girls, who have nothing in common. Nagisa is great with sports but horrible with tests while Honoka is an outstanding honor student. However, their average life would soon change...
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/Ikaanu/Pretty%20Cure/NagisaTB.pngNagisa Misumi: Nagisa, goes under Cure Black when transformed, is a great athlete but a horrible test taker. She is also most popular with her class.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/Ikaanu/Pretty%20Cure/HonokaTB.pngHonoka Yukishiro: Honoka, known as Cure White when transformed, is an outstanding honor student, who enjoys studying. She also is a member of the Science Club and enjoys her work in there. However, unlike Nagisa, she is not very good with sports.

Its up!
So how come all the other shows get 2 eps but Digimon 02 is still stuck with only 1?!
And is it just me or does the quality of the encode on Pretty Cure looks worse than the one on Digimon, which is a show 4 years OLDER than PreCure?? Kinda weird don't you think?
Interestingly we know who does the sub for it: Nippon Golden Network.

In regards to watching it on Crunchyroll.
I had previously stated that I wasn't going to watch it on Crunchyroll because of it's questionable reputation. However, I thought about it for a long time, and I had been curious about Pretty Cure for a while. So, I've decided to watch the episodes there, and afterwords get the heck out of there.
Now, as for Nippon Golden Network, I discovered that it's a cable channel in Hawaii and Southern California that has existed since 1982. With that in mind, am I correct in assuming that this isn't exactly a "new" translation, or a "new" release?
I like the cell phone/card scan concept. I especially liked how they can put Mipple and Mepple (the true main characters; more later) to sleep during class. I thought this was very original and intelligent (not to mention cute...). Now this show won't be plagued by the "mascots/aliens constantly getting the human characters in trouble" cliché.
Incidentally, I'm not so sure of the narrative of this show; that is, whose point of view the story is being told from. One thing is certain however:
When Mepple and Mipple explained about where they came from, and why the forces of evil are threatening their home, it was made clear to me that Mepple and Mipple are the main characters; the two humans are actually supporting characters, even though the show starts with them. For this reason, and while not as pronounced as some other anime, when the humans become Cure Black and Cure White, Nagisa and Honoka aren't really doing anything other than following their instincts (including the "you'll know what to do when you transform" instinct). It's really Mepple and Mipple using THEIR powers through the humans, although the second episode hints that Nagisa and Honoka are actually important to Mepple and Mipple's fight (i.e., and not some random "expendable" humans), but whether or not we find out depends on whether or not the official online release even gets that far.
Still, I will be looking forward to additional episodes, whenever that may be. I had actually been interested in the show for some time.

Huh whut? To me its pretty clear Nagisa is the main character, not her little animal sidekick. The struggle of the Field of Light is really just the reason why the Earth needs magical girls.

I'm going to have to agree with you, even though Mandouga brings up an interesting point its really Nagisa and Honoka that are working their buts off during the fights. Anyway I like this show, it may be a little cliche at times but it still is a fun show and it seperates itself due to the unique fighting style of the main characters.

Plus Nagisa is the one with the most screen time. She's the one struggling with her animal companion AND with her sudden responsibilities. To me that screams 'main character!'.

Ditto, but something tells me Honoka will get more screen time in the future since she is Nagisa's partner. Speaking of which I hope we get to see more interaction between the two characters but then again this series is almost 50 episodes long so there will be LOTS of time for that. ;)

And yeah the subs are not new. Toei had them up for download for months now.
Anyway I plan to watch it when I get the chance.

While I'm sure it wasnt intentional, I was always amused by the fact Cure Black is the athletic, emotional one while Cure White was the intelligent, rational one. :D

Yeah no doubt about that, but for now its told from Nagisa's point of view mostly.

As mentioned above, Nippon Golden Network is a Hawaiin pay cable network that shows a lot of Japanese programs, subbed.
Judging from the technology used to apply the subs themselves (you can see the dot crawl in the outlines of the subs in fact!), it looks like the subs were hard encoded onto the master tapes and these encodes are rips from tapes.
I haven't been able to verify this, but I suspect that the Nippon Golden Network in fact aired Pretty Cure in Hawaii, at least the first season, back soon after it aired in Japan, so these subs are most likely 5 years old or so.

Oh it gets worse: It turns out that Nagisa (cure black) loves fried foods, and that Cure White is rich.

Not bad for a magical girl anime.

It seems more action orented then most magic Girl series with the characters actually getting into hand to hand fights. I hope that the fight quality improves in later episodes as the one that was in this episode seemed poorly done.
It probably saved Toei money to just release an already made sub then create a new one.

Throughout the '90s, they aired subbed Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.
They aired all three Dragon Ball series in fact (including GT) but had to stop displaying English subs on the broadcasts around 1995 because of a certain company called Saban who had then recently purchased the rights to dub and edit Dragon Ball Z for TV broadcast in the other 49 states.
