Too bad Superman, Batman Beyond, and Justice League won't get sets like this. It'd make buying them so much easier.
I'll be picking this up Friday. was iffy on it, but since it's about the price of TWO of the 4 sets individually, I think it's a damn good deal.

If I had an extra $80 on me, I'd TOTALLY buy this.
But I don't.
...
How long will they be making these? Is it a limited time deal, or, what?

Well, I did, but had to sell it when I was unemployed back in '06, so I've been meaning to rebuy it sometimes anyway, just wanting it to come down in price a bit.

These discs are housed in two transparent double-sized Amaray cases, each with extra-hinge flaps to hold the 17 total discs. The only real new content is the exclusive bonus disc included here and the 40-page booklet.

Hmm, I'm at two minds about this... one it'd be great to have the 4 volumes in one neat package, two, I don't know if it'll work on my DVD player, me being UK and region 2 encoding! Now, I have have had many of the other Warner boxsets/DVDs and they've worked perfectly fine on my player(a couple 'single' releases haven't), but 67 quid is a lot of cash to pay, just to find out if this one would work or not!!

I 'll pass this because WHV has their eyes on releasing B:TAS on Blu-ray (they said so in a recent chat with Home Theater Forum). Do you guys think I'm making the right choice by doing so?

I dunno. Until Blu-ray goes down in price to where TV shows are affordable, I don't see the point. I can justify buying Movies for my HDTV at that price, but I can't see myself paying more than twice the, already high, price of a TV show.

I don't know, I guess it depends on your preference. I prefer the unclean episodes because it is part of the nostalgia factor. Plus, I don't even know if they are going to clean the episodes up. I would think they would try, but who knows WB anymore. Unclean episodes would look the same on dvd or blu.

Any region 1 releases from Warner's appears to work on a region 2 DVD player from the year 2005 onwards.
Therefore, Batman: The Animated Series-Volume 1 (a 2004 release) will not work in the UK.
I just could not resist this set, have it ordered and it cost me about £73, which is great considering the content (even though I have the individual releases). I just can't say no to anything Batman: The Animated Series related.

As soon as the price comes down to say..... £30, in about a month or two, I'll stick this set in my Amazon basket!

I don't know if i'm allowed to announce this here, so i apologize in advance if i'm breaking any rules, but any of you guys that are interested in getting the set should consider heading over to a certain online retailer (starts with a D), who started a 25% off sale today, which means you can get the set for $56.60, or if you're not from the US $69.55 including shipping. The discount is applied by codes, which are avaliable at various online sites.
I didn't order the set myself as i'm content with owning the individual volumes, but it's a great deal for anyone who is interested in this collection.

I'm talking about DeepDiscount.com, they're having one of their big semi-annual sales, which is a big event DVD collectors are looking forward to twice a year. This time however they increased the usual 20% off up to 25% off. To get the discount you have to enter a coupon code while checking out. These coupons can be found at various websites. Some of the coupons are: DVDTALK, USATODAY, NYTIMES, SUPERSALE, and there are plenty more. Each coupon can be used only once, though that shouldn't be a problem, since there's a lot of them.
I'd say that's a perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to get this set ASAP and for a good price. :)

The booklet, is it any good? Does it have character profiles/Bios/Turnarounds? What about drawings from TNBA? Specifically Nightwing, since he wasn't in TNBA much.
What kind of featurets does this have? Is there any NEW commentaries? What about Arkham Files? Is that in included?

This is from The World's Finest:
So, let's start on the outside and work our way in. Batman: The Complete Animated Series comes in a rather sturdy black cardboard case, which itself is covered with a transparent plastic sleeve. The plastic sleeve features a couple images of Batman, plus the name of the collection, with a rundown of the contents on a piece of paper soft-glued to the back. Once you remove the plastic sleeve and open the black casing, the contents are housed safely inside. First up is the 40-page booklet, featuring a written introduction by Alan Burnett and a massive amount of production artwork. Now, some of the artwork in here was previously featured in the acclaimed Batman: Animated coffee-table book, but there's also a lot of new artwork to be found, including model sheets, character expressions, and beautiful background paintings. The booklet also contains information on each disc included in the set.
And the discs? The disc count is 17, which amounts to one new disc and 16 discs already available in the individual Batman: The Animated Series multi-disc volume releases. These discs are exactly identical to the previous Batman: The Animated Series multi-disc volume releases. Every single thing. Menus, extras, disc art, the date stamp, the transfers, all of it, so there's no need to revisit those. In fact, these are the discs from the previous multi-disc volume releases, since some of them still have the old classic "DC Bullet" from their original releases on both the disc art and menu systems. These are the exact same discs, so for those who bought the previous multi-disc sets, you won't get anything new here. These discs are housed in two transparent double-sized Amaray cases, each with extra-hinge flaps to hold the 17 total discs. The only real new content is the exclusive bonus disc included here and the 40-page booklet.
And, well, for those buying Batman: The Complete Animated Series for this new exclusive disc, you may want to think twice. The new Shades of the Bat: Batman's Animated Evolution documentary included on the disc is a roughly 23 minute look at Batman in animation, from past to present day. The documentary covers everything, from the character's early days in Superfriends up to The Batman. As you can imagine, the majority of the documentary is spent on Batman: The Animated Series, though it does mention some notable animated appearances through the character's animated history. And that is the main extra on the exclusive bonus disc, one which doesn't cover any real new ground. Sure, it's nice to see animation historians and talent discussing how important Batman: The Animated Series was, but there's no new ground really covered here.
The rest of the extras are essentially trailers. Batman: Gotham Knight - An Anime Evolution is the extended trailer from the Justice League: The New Frontier DVD release. After that, we get the same A First Look At Justice League: The New Frontier featurette from the Superman Doomsday DVD release, followed up by the Wonder Woman Sneak Peek featurette from the recent Batman: Gotham Knight release. After all of that, we get more trailers, including one for Superman Doomsday and another for the The Dark Knight DVD release. Essentially, the only new extra is the Shades of the Bat: Batman's Animated Evolution documentary and the 40 page booklet. That's not a lot of new material to entice those who've already purchased the previous Batman: The Animated Series multi-disc releases.http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/batman/btas/releases/dvd/completeseries/
They have shots of the menu and of the actual set too.
I actually haven't seen this any of my local Wal-Marts, Best Buys, or Future Shops. I'm hoping to track it down soon.

I bought the original DVD sets when they were previously released, but I'm a Timm-verse fan enough to buy this for the bonus disc and the booklet. Was it worth it? No.
The bonus disc features a brief retrospective discussion with some of the creators. I can;t be sure, but I think most of the comments were culled from previous inteviews over several years. Some commenst are new. But no new information is revealed. It's just the same ol' anecdotes. Very disappointing.
The only other content are trailers we've already seen.
The booklet (not "book, "booklet") is nice enough, but not great. It's supposed to feature "never before seen art," but for those of us who have seen the various show bibles and art on-line, there's really nothing new.
So, is it worth the extra coin for the bonus stuff? Absolutely not.

Words cannot describe how much I would love to buy this set. I have the money, too, but my dad has been convinving me to try and save up every penny that I earn, which I usually do, but I don't really see the harm in getting myself this set for the holiday season, so I may just get my way after all. :D

I'm not sure exactly why they issue the complete series like this. Anyone who would want to own the complete series, probably already owns all of the season sets. So it makes me wonder who ends up buying the complete set. And you know sometimes Amazon.com, Best Buy, etc. will offer the season sets at very cheap prices. When you combine them it somtimes costs even less than the complete set does.

Virtually any show or movie produced using film or non-digital animation in the past 50 years has the potential to benefit from Blu-ray's high resolution. When you convert an image to pixels, you lose some of it. DVD resolution is about as many pixels wide as the banner ads at the top of this forum, whereas Blu-ray is about twice that (making it approximately like 4 DVD screens in a grid), so you lose less image quality that way. Still, with an older show, you're less likely to notice the difference from across a room. It would be nice, though.
If a show is shot on video instead of film (like a lot of older shows were), or if only the video tapes remain, then there's really no point. Fortunately I don't think that's the case here. But will Warner Bros. go through with it? We'll see. I know I'd buy it. I still only have the first 2 volumes, so I'm thinking about going for the full set, but maybe I'll wait just a little longer.
Just getting around to mentioning it here, but I bought it the day it was released for $56 at DeepDiscount's 25% off sale (because I never liked Batman enough to pay much to fill that hole in my DCAU collection ).
BIG QUESTION GUYS (if anyone can help me please!): Does the volumen 4 of the series comes with SPANISH audio????? The volumen 4 box set didnt and Id love to know if they included it for the complete series release...:(
Nada, senor. It's English/French audio with English/French/Spanish subtitles.

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of buying this collection because it's now or never, it can't get any better.
I know the Volume 4 doesn't have spanish audio, but it has spanish subs, and the Volume 1, 2, 3 had spanish audio.
So can you guys please confirm me this because i want it so bad, but to me it is a great investment and i want to be completely sure about this. :)
Thank you.
It is. It's the exact same disc content as Region 1's Volumes 1-4 in two 8-disc cases in a board-game styled box. So, if you have issues about it not fitting on the shelf with its DCAU brothers, you can take them out of the box, and just keep it somewhere else to house the book/guide.

Question on the Batman : The Complete Animated Series
I recently was looking for a decently priced copy of the B:TAS complete collection, and ran across a decently priced new copy. The seller said it was a legit new Region 1 copy. Well,I bought it and a few days later got an express mail package from China or Hong Kong.
The packaging on the set is pretty much spot on, including the book and such. However, as I opened it, 2 things struck me. First off, on the top and bottom sides, it says (verbatim) "DC Comlcs Classic Collection", and the front of the set says (verbatim) "Batman: The Animaed Series".
I'm fairly certain I know the answer to this, but did I get snookered on the deal from a bootleg seller?

Question on the Batman : The Complete Animated Series
Must be with those kinds of typos. Did it at least come with the right discs? A lot of times these kinds of products from third-party sellers are bootlegged or repackaged for sale. But if you got this cheap you may be just as well off, assuming everything else is included. Best just to find the real deal and pay the price it's going for though.

Ebay or amazon marketplace, I assume? Make a fuss and demand a return. If they don't honor your request, take it a step further and report the seller to ebay or amazon. You might get somewhere.

I've been fooled into buying fake dvds several times on Ebay and Half.com. In fact in the last month or 2, I've been fooled into buying 2 different fake copies of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chosen Collection complete series set. Which I returned to the sellers ASAP for a refund.
So I have experience on what to look for to tell the difference between a very good looking bootleg and the real thing.
Lucky for you I own a real copy of the B:TAS complete series set. Their is a very good chance your copy is a fake. I need more information to confirm it is a fake.
Check the back of the dvds, is their a set of barcodes/numbers or both? A real copy will have them.
Use your computer to inspect the dvds and check if they are single layer dvds (DVD-5) or Dual layer dvds (DVD-9). All of the dvds in B:TAS complete series set (except for the bonus disc) are supposed to be Dual layer dvds (DVD-9).
Single layer dvds (DVD-5) can hold up to 4.37/4.7 GB and up 2 hours of DVD quality video. Dual layer dvds (DVD-9) can hold up to 7.95/8.5 GB and up 4 hours of DVD quality video.
The program I use to inspect dvds is Nero InfoTool.

There is a bar code actually. ISBN is 1-41987289-3. Bar code number is 883929032273.
I brought it up with the seller and this was the message I got back. The seller is Apmnada:
Hello, thank you for your contact! I checked and it is true that there are some flaws on the packing and a couple of spelling errors. Thank you for your kindest reminder and we have stopped selling it on Ebay.
However, as you can see, we offer very bargain price on the boxset and offer free shipping service as well. Since the shipping happens between countries and it is a little expensive, sending the product back will cost a few dollars and it is not a wise way to resolve the problem. Could you please do me a big favor to keep the product and we issue you partial refund (USD 25) to sort things out? Overall this is a nice collection of Batman the animated series except the little defects.
Thank you for your consideration and kindest cooperation in advance!
I am looking forward to hearing from you again soon.
Regards,
Jerry
Any suggestions?

NO! I didn't mean the barcode on the packaging. Very good looking bootlegs that look like the real thing will have a legit looking barcode on the packaging, so having a barcode on the packaging means nothing.
What I meant is to check on the bottom of the individual dvds discs and around the opening there should be mini UPC codes and identifying marks. On an authentic, legit retail DVD you will see mini UPC bars with serial numbers that are put in place by the studio.
If your dvds don't have them, That's a HUGE giveaway that they are fake.
If you're not sure, take a high quality digital camera and take pictures of the back of a few dvds and upload them online. Then post them in this thread so I can see for myself.

I bought the whole thing last Christmas, only to have my mother destroy it (unfortunately). It just disappeared from my room completely about a month ago (the only discs that weren't destroyed were volume one, volume three, the first disc of volume two, and the last disc of volume four).
Now that I'm almost ready to move out, I'd like to own the show again. I finally got my first job, so saving for it will be much easier. Is it still possible to purchase?

I've been wanting this very bad as well. But I have seen it going for $200 on Amazon. I should of acted a year ago! I guess I will try getting Justice League before that becomes hard to find!

Batman: The Complete Animated Series (question)
I’ve finally started buying the Batman: The Animated Series volumes on DVD. Then I discovered that they recently made a box set, Batman - The Complete Animated Series, which includes a book and a bonus disc. So far I have a used BTAS Volume 1 and a mint, still-shrink-wrapped Volume 3.
I own many of the Batman/DC Comics coffee table books and love them. The DVD book seems like a great addition; although, it may be thin and flimsy. Would it be worth getting this box set over the individual volumes? Are the DVD features any different/better than the volume versions, and what exactly is in the book? I’m thinking I could resell my two volumes on eBay for this.
Also, I assume that it’s unlikely they’ll ever release a complete box set for Batman Beyond. Is that a fair judgment?

Depending on the price, yeah, I'd go for the complete set over the individual volumes, if you can get them in the same range. The DVD features (and the DVDs themselves) are exactly the same, other than a bonus disk with a new documentary, and the book is full of concept art, sketches, backgrounds... that sorta thing. It also has a full list of the content of each disk, which is useful.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see it at some point - in fact, I'm banking on it. I doubt it'll be of the same caliber as BTAS's release, though; probably more in line with the Superman and Justice League sets.

Apparently the B:TAS series bible was released this week. Does it come with a new batch of these complete series sets or something? I just heard about it today and was wondering how/where you can buy it.

Don't know if it's being reprinted, but the entire 153-page bible is available online at The World's Finest: http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/batman/btas/backstage/wbible/

Hey, I just bought this set on Ebay and there are a lot of spelling errors on the back paper info. The inside booklet says "Batman: the Animaed Series." The disc that has the bonus disc says "Bunus Disc." There ARE barcodes on the underside of all the discs. Everything else looks good.
I was wondering if I got suckered.

Sounds like it. Usually if something has that many errors it's a fake.
