We're in November. Thanksgiving will be here soon, followed by Christmas and New Years Eve. If you, like me, live in a part of the country where it's usually warm you'll finally get some cool weather. So, the question has to be asked. Is this the best part of the year? I think it is to be honest. I love it mostly for the holidays and weather. Then again...there's people who hate the holidays and get snow storms during this part of the year. So, I'm sure there's those who disagree. lol.

I like the Halloween through New Year's season. There's Holloween, Thanksgiving, my birthday, winter break, and Christmas. Summer is pretty cool too. No school!:D

I like December a lot because you know your about to get a nice break from school and everyone is more happy then usual. Thanksgiving is awesome to but I always liked winter more even though were I live I don't get any snow.

I love the weather this time of year and the holiday season is, while stressful, my favorite time of the year. This is the busiest time of the semester, but at the same time, I love looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I'm just looking forward to November 5th so I can stop seeing and hearing political ads everywhere.

As for my favorite times of the year, Christmas has lost a lot of it's magic as I've gotten older. I think the times I enjoy the most are those first warm days of the spring, when we finally emerge from yet another cold Minnesota winter. That first day of not having to wear gloves when walking outside is just as good as getting a bunch of gifts on Christmas! :D

Nope sorry. Spring and Summer will always win.

Winter sucks.

Definitely the best time of the year for me. I particularly enjoy the October-February time frame. Besides the great holidays, I love the change to cool weather. December itself is the high point. I love when the Christmas lights and decorations start going up around the neighborhood, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony downtown, I get to start bundling up with sweaters or jackets when I go out, we break out the hot chocolate mixer, the fog starts coming in on some evenings, using the fireplace. I love stepping outside on a crisp December evening and letting the coolness surround me. There's just a particular smell in the air that I don't find any other time of the year. I love it and never want it to end.

Summer is the worst time of the year, so it's always a very welcome change when Fall/early-Winter arrives. :)

and summer as I love the vacation.

Yea, in Elementary and Middle School, summer WAS the best time of the year because of summer vacation. However, once you get to high school that may all change. Especially if you get a summer job. Although back in those pre-college days this definitely was the best time of the school years cause you had the most days off. Once you return from the Christmas break you barely have any days off and that sucks. But, anyway, I do love summer as well. Yea, it gets extremely hot where I live but it is the blockbuster movie season so I always look forward to that,

When I was in school, my family and I would always take our annual vacation in the early-Spring time while school was still in in order to avoid the summer crowds at places like Disneyland or wherever we went. Then during the summer, while everybody was out crowding each other trying to have fun, we could just relax at home but still make occasional trips to more local places of fun. :)

Though in 1994 and 1997, we did take a week-long vacation during the late summer, and to places out of state. :)

Trips are cool and all, but I think when you're a kid the highlight of summer vacation is just watching TV, playing video games, hanging (and playing) with your friends, and not worrying about school.

Michael24

Yeah, that's pretty much all I did during my actual summer breaks from school. :)

Of course, by taking our regular vacations during the Spring, I still had homework to worry about. But I would just get the week's worth before I left, leave it at home, then do it all over the weekend we got back to turn in on Monday morning. :D

When you work in retail, and worse yet retail in a heavy snowbird population, winter is the absolute worst time there is. The weather hardly makes up for it.

Same here. I've been tired of those political ads for awhile now.

As for me, I always love this time of the year. Halloween is fun, but I prefer Thanksgiving and Christmas. Those holidays always have my family and I getting together for some happy moments. Besides that, I get a nice break from school. I also like seeing how happier a lot of people are and thinking of how I'll spend the vacation time. I also have a special enjoyment of those Christmas specials and movies they play all through the month.

But don't you do a lot of overtime, in other words, make extra money? So, yea, I'm sure it's a pain in the [you know what], but it's extra cash in your pocket.

:^: This. I'm just tried of all this election talk. Other than that, I love Christmas time. A nice long break from school is definitely what I need, mid-way through this darn school year.

I'd say Spring Time. It's so nice a beautiful around that time of year, not to hot, not to cold. And plus, your really exited and in a good mood about the school year ending!

Second would be Winter. I like all of the fun activities and stuff about the Holidays, but still, where I live, the weather is too damn inconsistent this part of the year. Mostly cold, but sometimes, it even gets warm.

Third would be Summer. Fun and all, but really hot.

Last is Fall.... It's OK, just really busy usually and not very fun.

When you hate your job and everything else about your life, and the season making it just that much worse, a few extra dollars isn't a huge help.

There's nothing wrong with summer jobs...depending on the job. I mean, if you get a summer job flipping burgers at McDonalds then, yea, that's gonna affect the overall quality of your summer. lol.

I've learned to appreciate every time of the year in its own way, but this probably is the best. The lead-in to the Christmas season just feels so vaguely inspiring.

Oddly enough, shortly after that is probably my least favorite time of the year. January is cool because it's the new year and stuff, but February and about half of March are mostly pretty dreary when it's not snowing.

You have more control over a situation than you think. If there's something you don't like about the situation, change it. If you can't change it, change the way you think about it.

I choose Thanksgiving as the best time of year.Lots of good food(turkey and gravy), nice, crisp, cool weather, and not to mention the fact that my birthday falls right around the Thanksgiving break.

Our neighbors were putting up a Christmas display in their yard today... lights, big inflatable Santa and various other decorations. It was definitely jarring to see that on November 9th.

I love fall and winter (although eventually I get tired of winter and I just want spring to come along). I just enjoy the drastic changes in scenery which is noticible in New England. The scenery in autumn is wonderful with all of the foliage, and the temperatures are perfect. Then in the wintertime you get the snow which is great scenery too. Not to mention you get to go snowmobiling :p . I just don't really like summer too much. It's just to hot... I would LOVE summer if I was at the beach everyday, but since I usually go once or twice a week, I tend to notice the heat.

I hate this time of the year because it gets dark at 5 PM and it's COLD. At least in my neck of the woods. Yeah, Thanksgiving and Christmas are great and all, but it doesn't change the fact that I can no longer go running (unless inside on a treadmill, which isn't as good) and I have to scrape my windshield due to the frost. Oh yeah, and breaks? Doesn't happen after college, unless you save up your vacation days.

Favorite time of the year? Probably early fall, when the weather is just right, or late spring, when it hasn't gotten incredibly hot yet.

The first I hear of this.Sure, one of the people I work with is a teacher, so worked full-time over the summer and now works like a day a week. Plenty of other teachers I've had have talked about various summer jobs they've had.

Teachers don't get paid all that much since they don't work the full year, after all. Money has to come from somewhere.

I love snow. I'll never live farther south than the southern Iowa border because I demand cold and snow. Basically? Love this time of year! Wish we could keep it 10 months out of the year!

And I guess to get a little education tiff started, I think summer should be abolished and we should either go to a Japanese type system (in terms of calender attendance) and/or school days that begin later and go later. Summer was largely created for Farm kids, and those are nearly extinct. Kids will get out when parents are off work to pick 'em up, and I've seen lots of support for the idea that most kids and adolescents do better if you let 'em sleep in and start the school day at 10.
