If you're not playing it anymore, then why not?
There's no reason to keep a game you're not playing or have no intention of playing again.

Will you regret it? If not, trade away.

My personal policy on trading games is as follow
1. I beat the game already- I got what I needed from the game, like the full Gamerscore, so I don't see a point in holding on to it. I'm sort of a completionist like that. Thanks Microsoft for your system.
2. Do my friends still play the game with me- I've been thinking about trading my copy of COD4 for a while, since the last time I tryed playing with my friends we got owned as there are apparently no newbies on the servers anymore, and I got all the achievements from it. even if I get the full 1750 from Halo 3, I won't trade it in, I still play it constantly.
3. I need the money for other stuff- Unless I am desperate need for the money for other games, I will trade it in. This happens to me rarely, as I do try to hold on to games and wait to see if the store has some sort of trade in deal like it always does.

Let's make this a more broad issue: as a general rule, how do you all feel about trading in your old games?
I personally wouldn't get rid of a game unless I actually didn't like it. I just don't see it as a temporary experience. I want to be able to go back and play it whenever I might feel like it. I certainly would never trade in a game that's less than 10 years old.

You only get $10 at Gamestop. I'd keep it IMO at that value..

Well you could sell the game online, my only complaint is handling shipping and making sure the buyer is reliable.

Well, I actually don't trade games in any more (for various reasons)...
But if he wants GoW2 enough and doesn't care much for GTAIV, then why not trade it in?
Better someone enjoy the game than let it collect dust.

I'd never trade in games just because you get like nothing for them. At this point you'll get maybe $25 for GTA4, leaving you to shell out another $35 for whatever new game you want. I'd just buy it as well, you never know when you want to go back and play old stuff again.

I don't trade in any of my RPGS because I collect them. I've traded in a few other games at an independent game store over the years but never at Gamestop because they give you absolutely nothing for them.
If you want Gears 2 and trading in your GTAIV is the only way you can get that extra 10 bucks or so, though, I'd say go for it.

Same here. I mean, you never know when you'll have a hankering to play Luigi's Mansion again, right? Plus, you usually only get, like, $5 - $10 per game. You spent at least $50! So it's as if you're spending $40, at least, to rent a game if you intend to sell it from the get-go.
I'll never understand why so many people do it.

I for one wanted to get rid of Mass Effect since I felt unmotivated.
But they're selling for $3 credit due to lots of returns! WORTHLESS!

I'd say no. While Gears is probably going to be good, there is no way it will ever touch GTAIV when it comes to plot and gameplay. GTAIV is probably my favorite game of the year (or maybe it is MGS4), and to compare it to Gears is meh in my book.
Seriously though, if you didn't enjoy GTAIV that much, and don't plan to ever play it again, you might as well. However, I have done that before, traded in a game I never thought I'd play again, and a year later, I really wanted to play it.
