Well, then Spoiler would be primed to take his place, wouldn't she?

Well as one who doesn't really follow the comics, would anyone care to clue me in as to why Tim would stepping down as Robin?

Tim's been through a lot the past few months. His YJ teammates getting paranoid about him, Batman revealing Tim's secret to the Spoiler, Brentwood Academy, his dad's financial loss, etc. But things have been getting a tad better for Tim, so I can't see him quitting. Especially with the new writer coming in.

There's an Elseworld's type tale in ROBIN #101 which is part of a YOUNG JUSTICE crossover, where a villain makes it so YJ never existed. So Tim Drake never became Robin. And who's Robin? Yep. Steph. Trust me, Tim is sticking around for a long time.

The new writer said that Tim's adventures have just begun - so expect Drake to stick around for awhile. Besides- we've only begun to scratch the surface with potential stories, and this new writer definatly has some good ideas that focus on Tim more than Robin. Some critics are saying he is becoming DC's answer to Marvel's Spider-Man.
i'm not sure if i'd like Spoiler as Robin...she's just so....blah to me.
I'm not a Spoiler hater mind you. In the right hands she could probably be a phenomenal Robin and not just because she's a girl. But she just doesnt do anything for me....

lol, that would amusing, for a second. Well, I'm glad that it looks like Tim wont be leaving the Robin title any time soon. But, I could also understand how they could pull him from it. I mean, we know that Tim isn't gonna be Robin forever, he's even told Nightwing, for instance, that this isn't like a life time kind of gig for him. I'd think he'd give it up around college time or something. I could definetly not see Spoiler taking his place, that would seem weird. She seems kinda cool, but she's been getting on my nerves a bit.

I think Tim will be Robin for a while, there are a lot more stories to hit on before he leaves, and then I think he will become another character, like Dick Grayson did.

maybe Dick will become the Red Robin and Tim will take over as Nightwing

I think you may be on to something there. I read all of last month's comics last night, so they were somewhat of a blur, but I thought I saw Alfred saying something like that to Nightwing. Can anyone look it up? I think it was in Gotham Knights.

It was Oracle talking to Nightwing because he could not understand how Robin could doubt Batman's innocence.
Everyone has made a good point, but Tim would find it hard to go it alone because he does not have Bruce or Dick's financial backing. Dick got a lump of money from Bruce when he left that is how he can continue to be Nightwing. Batman is one of the few comics that explain that superhero-ing cost money. There are a few others that get explained away by inheritances and lotteries but most never touch this subject. You only see the Villians scronging around for cash to continue thier plan.
If Tim left, I think he would want it to be on his terms and if he continued on he would want to be his own man completly. Batman has continually stepped into Nightwing's life to interfere if he thought it would ripple into his life. I don't think Tim would want that if he continued on with an identity all his own. Both He and Oracle share the annoyance of Bruce and his ways, though they respect him completely.

Maybe that would be the answer: Oracle providing financial and information backing to Tim if he becomes estranged from the Batman.

I don't know how well I can see Tim outside of Kid Robin Mode. And I am a Borderline Spoiler-hater, she is annoying as crap. I'd like to see Tim and Cassandra team up some more, but then I'd also like to see Bats and Cassandra together more just because there's a weird dynamic going on there I think.
So what would Tim be like if they moved him out of Adolesence?
