View Full Version : Majora's mask (Quality of the game in the Zelda Collector's Edition)
For the people who have the Collector's edition, is this whole "Freezing" issue I've heard of true for Majora's Mask?

I have it and played it most of the way through. I've not experienced a freezing issue, I don't even know what you mean, really. It may have locked up on me once or twice but it wasn't like a regular thing. The sound is bad, though, there's even a disclaimer about it when you boot it up. But it looks sharper than it did on N64 so I guess it's a fair trade.
Edit: I looked it up and some of these people are complaining about nothing. If a game freezes on you once in the 20 hours or more it takes to play it, it doesn't have a "freezing issue." Lots of games crash, even console games.
Well, I was wondering, knowing there are some Zelda fans on TZ.
And I never play MM, and besides FINALLY being able to play through OoT again, I'm really anxious to see how MM is.

Majora's Mask itself is great. It'll probably seem a little clunky and ugly if you're used to newer games and some parts are tough to figure out. And there's one jump that, if the only way I was able to do it was really the way you are supposed to do it, is one of the worst examples of bad game design I've seen in a major game. But it's still a lot of fun and I liked the time gimmick.

There are one or two minor audio/video glitches in the GameCube Collector's Edition of Majora's Mask, but I never heard of anything affecting the gameplay.

Considering how the save system is set up, it definitely isn't complaining about nothing. Either you risk losing hours of gameplay or you go through the tedious practice of making owl saves & then making copies of those saves. It's definitely something that Nintendo needs to fix for the game's Virtual Console release (in fact I'm sure the reason why it's still not on the Virtual Console is because Nintendo is aware of this problem).

It is if doesn't happen to that many people and when it does it happens, like, once in the whole time you play it. Seriously, it's not that big a deal. The most you could possibly lose is one dungeon, which is admittedly more than most crashes will cost you but it won't kill you. Oblivion has crashed on me twice, causing me to lose hours of gameplay, I'm not out on the Internet complaining about it having a freezing issue.
Anyway, don't avoid this great game because of this minor issue.
Well from what I've read, if you turn the rumble feature off, it should minimize the times the game freezes and crashes.
So, if Shawn had his Rumble on, then really with it off, there shouldn't be many to any at all with it off.

Why in the world would the Rumble cause the game to crash?
That just seems so...random.
The whole thing does sound ridiculous but that's what people have said via reviews, etc.
