After watching every episode of JL so far, i'd agree that it is a good show
Yet, there is something that i've come to realize regarding superman....
1.He'll never use his superspeed
Why: Because running in circles reaslly fast is Flash's job
2.He'll never use his heat vision
Why: Because firing pretty beams of light is GL's job
3.He'll never be smart and plan out an attack
Why: Because using the brain is Batman's job
4.He'll never perform an aerial attack
Why: Because flying is for girls with pretty wings like Hawkgirl

Blade,
Love no. 4. :)
Didn't Superman use his heat vision in a prior episode? Or was it something else that he used to blow out the tire in that vehicle?

the only time i remeber it was when he melted the ax
but it would have been so much cooler if he like charged up his eyes and then drew a firey circle around Draaga and have steam smokin out of his angry eyes....huh? oh right that would never happen, cause that's GL's job

Add the fact Superman doesn't even need Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, Flash, or Wonder Woman to do any job

hehehe good points
see the trick is Superman CAN use his powers, just not when hes faced by any REAL threat =)
i LOVED his use of his powers in Batman Beyond's THE CALL
we got it *ALL*
he used superspeed to teach Inque a lesson in respect, his heat vision like a laser cannon on starr-os, MANY uses of Superstrength, the AWESOME Thunderclap to put out a fire, his telescopic AND x-ray vision when Metropolis was under attack
the only power he didnt use was cold-breath but thats just nitpicking in such a power-filled episode =)

Im with you TFMA The Superman in "The Call" has had the best showcase of his abilities of any animated episode that I can think of I've ever seen.

Yeah the CALL was awsome, it was also an intresting idea as what our JL could look like in years
Green Lanturn also showed off his powers in that episode and i guess so did everyone else in that they put themselves to the max with just about every ability they had

yeah, "The Call" kicked butt..
and you're right Spider, Superman did use his heat vision to blow out Deadshots tire in "The Enemy Below"...

Bird_Boy,
Thanks for the verification. I'll send along a box of Thanagarian cookies once my order is placed. ;)

Yeah - this is the tricky thing - Superman is so powerful it sort of makes the JL redundant. It's tricky coming up with a threat that Superman can't handle alone. The writers have made an effort to power down Superman so he needs his teammates, but I and nearly everyone else on this board feel they've gone too far. In War World he's was just a floating strongman. "Superman - get out of that way of that giant rock, why don'tcha'?"
BTW, does Superman have his cold breath anymore? That used to a real staple power back in the day.
ALso, when is CN going to show The Call again? I've never seen it! :(

cold breath MAY have been used in "In Blackest Night" to put out a fire, but i think it was more of just a super-breath than actual COLD breath

With his powerful lung capacity, he simply blows on an object for an extended period of time (probably more than 15-20 seconds) until it freezes.

I would think that The Call 2 parter is coming up real soon, since it was near the end of Batman Beyond, and they have already had the "Bigtime" Bigalow episodes last week (which were also near the end).

Superman's cold-breath was a thing of the past after John Byrne's "Man of Steel" reboot. Only in the past year or so have I noticed it popping up in some of the Superman titles.
Personally I was glad to see it go. It just didn't make any sense. Sure anyone of us can blow air to cool something off, meaning that Superman could blow really, really cold air I guess, but then wouldn't the reverse be true? Afterall, anyone of us can blow hot air to warm up our hands, so why didn't Superman ever use his "Heat-Breath"?
Anyway, his breath has never been used to ice something over in his own animated series or JL.

I crack myself up after realizing that I'm yelling at the tv.
Me: "Hey, Super Dope! You can FLY! Get out of the way already!"
Superman: "Nah. Just feel like doing some (slow) walking today."

This is going out on a tangent, but I think that Pre-Crisis Bizarro had Heat-Breath, as well as Ice-Vision, since he was the opposite of Superman. :)
I never really liked the ice breath either...even though most super-powers are stretching the imagination, by comparison, ice breath still seems pretty out there.

Actually.. cold breath isnt so much a "Power" as it is a use of physical laws.
Decrease the preasure on any object fast enough without a corrsponding increase in volume or mass and you get a DRASTIC change in temperature (why fluids boil in a vacuum).
Hold 2 pieces of paper close together and blow thru them.. what happens? A decrease in preasure between them and pulling them into each other.
Wings on an aircraft work on a similar principle
Also.. Supes waited until the last second to realize he could cut thru the bonds holding them captured in th alien ship during Secret Origins.. pissed me off to no end.. as it didnt really matter any more

Hey, it wasn't his fault...the aliens hit him with some plot gas when we weren't looking, and it took that long for it to wear off...

im thinking that the "ion storms" or whatever they called the stuff they were pumping into the atmosphere must have altered the "colour" of the sun's rays a la Luminous' satilite system

I think blade1225 brings up a good point. Which is why I think the JL shouldn't be crammed together in every episode. Leave it to two or three, at most, and bring them all together for the bigger threats. That way the best moments are saved for the best events, where all of them have to come together and work elbow-to-elbow like "Secret Origins." With having two or three in an episode (complete hour), you give each character their moment to shine, and you don't have to worry too much about powering down anyone, especially Superman.
Superman is a powerhouse of his own. He's got braun, brains, and class... and having him compromise that because other characters need to put in their two-cents to contribute to the team... it just doesn't work well. The same goes for the rest of the JL. Batman is more than brains, Flash is more than arrogance, GL is more than a militant leader, etc. Squeezing all of the JL together robs them of that.
