Did anyone of you hear that Nintendo will be the only system to house the franchise now? Does anyone else who has the better PS2 think this sucks? I plan on getting a gamecube for the WWF game, but I still think this sucks.
Did anyone hear they are redoing RE1 for gamecube with new levels? I say big deal. You have the franchise now make a new game instead of something I beat 5 years ago.
My favorite game in the series is 2
Who thinks the movie will be any good?

Definitely a big deal. For one thing, it's not going to be the same game. There will be a number of differences from the original version.
Plus, it's just gorgeous.

It's going to prove that the Gamecube isn't the "kiddy" platform everyone makes it out to be.

While it is gorgeous, I'm not sure its going to prove anything. The problem with this is that Nintendo is banking on this bringing in a lot of the "adult" crowd - winning them away from the other consoles. But, the fact is, most of the RE titles that are going to be released are rehashes of the ones already released on the PS. This isn't going to be enough to win fans away from the PS2 or X-Box, though its a step in the right direction.

It's going to be good for those who never played the original series on the PS consoles. Eternal Darkness will be the next big step after that (I'm chomping at the proverbial bit for this one...)

Heh.. you guys NEED Cloudchaser .. Nintendo has so many "M" Rated games coming out it's rediculous. Resident Evil as already stated, is just to pull in Older gamers.. and then Eternal Darkness and the rest(including Too Human and Die hard) will keep them there to tell their friends about.
Did anyone hear they are redoing RE1 for gamecube with new levels? I say big deal. You have the franchise now make a new game instead of something I beat 5 years ago.
It's basicly an all new game... and after RE1 comes out the next game will be RE Zero followed by the "ports". And those ports are for the N64 loyalists who stayed true to Nintendo and never got to play a Resident Evil game other than RE2.. Not the older gamers they pulled in.
I've seen the Movie previews, and it doesn't look that good, but knowing my friends we'll go see it.

Yeah, I'm not too thrilled with how the movie looks either, but I'll probably go see it just to check it out.

"If Nintendo cannot get its numbers up, particularly in Japan, we may need to reconsider keeping Resident Evil exclusive to the Gamecube."
-Capcom of America president Bill Gardner
By the way, a "N64 loyalist" is simply someone who couldn't afford both systems. :yakko:
Believe it or not, Capcom is releasing these games to make money off those that have stuck with Nintendo over the years. It's not a gift from Nintendo for being loyal.

"By the way, a "N64 loyalist" is simply someone who couldn't afford both systems."
I have to agree. I consider myself a loyalist as I have even owned the ug..Virtual Boy. I could of afforded a PS, I mean come on did you see the prices of those carts compared to the PS games ? Any 64 owner could of bought a PS .. They just chose not to..Like me. As it would be helping the so called enemy.
Now I may be a loyalist but i'm no dummy. I went and got a Dreamcast as soon as I realised my 64 was lacking quality games.. But because at this point the 64 was dead my thinking was as long as I don't fuel Sony.. I'm good.
BTW could I ask where you got that quote from ? Because even in the most recent interviews with Capcom do they even talk like that ? then again that quote could be from before pikmina nd SSB:M were released because these two games pushed GC Sales through the roof in Japan upon release. Wait no that can't be it because that quote was from Capcom of America. Which leads me to think your full of it... As The GC's Numbers in America have been shown by every news source to be doing fine here in the states.

The quote came from MSNBC, but sales have improved since it was reported so I'm not sure what Capcom plans to do with the franchise right now. Just thought I should report that there is a chance the Resident Evil franchise will spread to other consoles. Gamecube will get all planned Resident Evil games whether they go to PS2 or X-Box as well, so there's really nothing that should bother those with a Gamecube. I'm not much of a Resident Evil fan so I won't really care either way.
As for being loyal to a particular system, it just seems silly to me to stay with one system if there are games you like on another. The companies really don't care about you, and if your loyalty is causing you to be deprived of the games you want then it's just foolish to stand by it. If I could own all systems I would, and loyalty to one particular company wouldn’t stop me from spending money on "the enemy" if it meant I got to play the games I thought were fun. Remember, it's all about the games, not the companies.

I know it's dumb and i feel dumb for it..But right now I do think that "game wise"..I'll be getting the best "bang for my buck".. I don't need a PS2 for the extensive library because I've got a Dreamcast and all the new games coming out for my GBA and GC will be worth it.
Clayface

For the most part, I really don't understand the loyalty idea either. Honestly, I can afford all three systems, but I choose not to.
Ive got a PS2, because it offered a lot of features I liked - it offers not only gameplay, but a CD player and DVD player all in one. I also had a PS, so my games from that system can be played on the new one.
I haven't bought an X-box because (1) there's nothing on it that interest me and (2) I despise Microsoft and don't want to give them my money. I don't care for their business practices, nor the products that they produce.
I haven't bought a GC because so far, there's nothing that really catches my interest. Originally, I was all set to buy one, but I ended up losing interest the two games that got me excited about the system to begin with. They changed the graphics on the new Zelda game - I was really looking forward to the more "realistic" graphics of the original trailer. And I got a chance to play the Star Wars game and found it disappointing. In the mean time, nothing else has come out that looks to be my style, and what I've seen of upcoming games hasn't interested me either. If and when they produce something that I'd like, I'll buy one. In the meantime, I'll stick with my GBA.
I just got a Gamecube and I'm definately gonna get Resident Evil :).

Heh, Don't all DVD players play CD's ? Anyway I already had a DVD Player.. I still say that a cheap DVD Player is no reason to buy a video game system. I mean a cheap DVD Player could run you less than a hundred bucks. And Sony charges you more than that.

There's not one game on the XBOX that makes me want to buy it. I don't even think they will be around this time next year. He's lost billions on the XBOX. He's not going to ride this out. I've played 12 games on the XBOX and nothing is impressing me. RAW is WAR was horrible.
The RE movie looks too sci-fi when it should look more horror, anyone agree?
I must say the screen shot above looks amazing, but it's still going to be basically the same game right?

Key word here being cheap, as in, if you buy a DVD player that's less than $100, tis not gonna last very long.
I didn't have a DVD player when the PS2 came out - so i had the choice of buying a system that I couldn't play my old PS games on, plus the cost of a DVD player, or simply buying one system that can do both. Easy choice. I also like not having to have two units sitting on the shelf - I've got little enough space as it is for my electronics. When you can combine two pieces into one, and save me shelf space, you make me happy. Just mroe little reasons the PS2 was the system for me (that, and Nintendo doesn't have anywhere near the same number of games that I want to play as the PS and PS2).

I haven't played it but from what I've heard it's not going to be the same game. Redsigned characters, levels, opening scene, cinemas..etc. You get different levels, different weapons, new creatures to face I think an extra person to play as and a lot more... Which I think would make this an all new game with the same but modified storyline...as well as references to The upcoming REZero game.
And yes the movie does look very si-fi when it should look horror. For example they use the same lettering as The Matrix. The movie doesn't even look scary. I'm sure that the GC game will scare me more but i'm basing that on the previews.
I agree on the X-BOX thing.. It costs too much for so little. Most of the games score very low and it barely EVER lives up to it's potential or hype. The only game that I want on X-Box is JetSet Radio Future..A problem that will be fixed when sega announces JetGrind Radio Future for GC and PS2.

XBOX is junk
What I don't get... The Resident Evil movie was started in 1998. I remember reading write-up's back then and what people had was a horror movie. Now looking at it today, the origina movie must have been scrapped and replaced with this.
Me getting a gamecube will all be based on how good Wrestlemania 18 is and where or not the Batman Dark Tomorrow game is only on gamecube. But... Remembering how bad Return of the Joker was that doesn't have me to excitied about this game.l

I can't fight you on the games thing, because it's a matter of taste.
Key word here being cheap, as in, if you buy a DVD player that's less than $100, t is not gonna last very long.
Heh the DVD Player in the PS2 is the cheapest and most basic available, not to mention it won't play some DVDs(well some of the first waves of PS2 had this problem, I dunno about later models). My DVD player was cheap and it's been running good for the entire time I've owned it.
When you can combine two pieces into one, and save me shelf space, you make me happy.
Do you know how small the GC is ? It's not even an issue for shelf space. Let's put it like this... The Controller is just as tall as the GC is if put vertically... it's also only one inch bigger than the GBA.. So GC wouldn't give you any type of shelf space issues.

The software upgrade fixed all those problems. The PS2 plays every DVD I own (several hundred) perfectly.

The size of the GC plus the size of a full size DVD player is a lot bigger than the size of the PS2. The PS2 alone is smaller than a regular DVD player.
The GC is also taller than the PS2, and top loading. My electronics sit on a short narrow shelf under the TV - the GC wouldn't fit on one of these shelves, much less allow me to load a game, since its a top loader.
So, overall, the PS2 had everything I wanted/needed - it does more than just play games, and is a more attractive package than the other systems for my needs.

LOL! Believe me, it wasn't by choice! I could find exactly one corner entertainment unit that I could afford that had everything I needed on it. It's got two shelves below the TV that are adjustable, but since I have 2 VCRs and game system, I need to space them out basically evenly, which is just tall enough to fit a VCR or the PS2 in.

I have some good news and bad news for those with a PS2:
Good News: There's a new Resident Evil game coming to the system.
Bad News: It's a sequel to the horrendous Resident Evil: Survivor.
Oh well, at least it can't be much worse than the first one.

Yeah Survivor 2 is based on last year's X. So a recyled game gets recycled again
