View Full Version : Best non-conventional power

Hi all. I've seen threads asking what hero/villian you would be if you could, or what superpower you would want, and my question to you all is a variation on the latter.

If you were offered any non-conventional super power, which one would you take?

For this little exercise I would exclude, super strength or speed, flight, invulnerability, telepathy, or telekenises.

Just a little exercise in creativity, because the above choices are most often given in response to a what powers type of thread.

My choice? I'd have to go with Multiple Man's power of self-duplication. Classes would be alot easier if I could split myself and have several versions of myself do my work at once. Besides, I'd never be lacking in intelligent conversation. :)

LOL! Hehe, I'm sorry I just laugh at your avatar/title set up each time I see it. HERE'S something for one of your classes! "Okay class, here's your standard Spiderman equation: Girlfriend + bridge = bad!" lol! Ooooooh that's so cruel. ANYWAY! :D

What I'd like is probably not considered a super power, physically. I want to have complete control of all the parts of my brain that we don't use as humans. But by that I don't mean telekenisis or anything we know of to date. I mean EVERYTHING. Our entire mind. I think I could be capable of some amazing things. That really has nothing to do with any superhero, I'm sure, but it just shows how odd I am.

Hrm..I wouldn't mind having Spidey's Spider Sense..think about it, knowing when there's danger! Imagine if you could train that sense, like people learn to hear better...and using it to know what lottery numbers wouldn't win..hrm..the possibilities...

I don't know--didn't the illegitimate son of Charles Xavier have that? He went insane and then lapsed into a coma. That'd be my bigest concern--madness....
How about sonic scream (or, in my case, sonic eructation)? Or flatulating fire, like Paul Reubens in Mystery Men? lol....

I'd like to be able to morph into any animal I'd like. Fly like an eagle, fight like a lion, or just be a fly on the wall to gather information.

I'd like to have the power to take other people's abilities like Mimic from Exiles. Now that is a cool power. Kind of like Rogue, but without all the bad side effects.

Sounds like Odo from Star Trek:DS9. That wouldn't be so bad.

I'd also like the one super power that Bruce Wayne enjoys...the ability to spend, spend, spend...and to have line items in the budget for little things like giant space stations.

alright, this one is a little bit out there, but I would like to be able to transform into a fighter jet. I would so be a decepticon if I could!

Are you an Animorph fan? If you aren't, then I'd really recommend the Animorph Book series to you. You'll like it very much.

Like Calico here, If I could have any powers I wanted, then I'd probably choose to have the same powers as the Animorphs. Being able to absorb the DNA of any creature and then actually being able to turn into that creature for 2 hours. That'd be totally awesome :)

Earth elemental powers. The power to manipulate earth stone and metal. Like Alvin Maker from the Tales of Alvin Maker books.

Why make it 2 hours? Why not days, months?! You'll be the ultimate secret agent/ super-hero. Same goes for me. I really can't think of anything else. I'd rather be like Batman, just an average, kick ass guy without superpowers.

Yeah, morphing into an animal would be so awesome! But, unlike in Animorphs, I'd like to be able to have a bit more control over the animal mind. Teleporting could be really awesome too. So if I was late for class, I could save myself like 30 minutes and just teleport there. And if I forgot something, I could just teleport back home and pick it up! That would be beyond cool.

I would go for being like the T-1000 from Terminator 2. You'd be just about invincible. If not that, then to be like Anteaus from Greek myth.

Anteaus is an interesting choice

as for me, im SOOOOOOOOOOO Odysseus

Achilles is cool too =)

Whats it mean to be non-conventional?

Playing on emulators, I've become obsessed with the Save State/Load State feature. My power, hereby labeled "Undo" would be to be able to do that in real life, just so i would never waste a single quarter on those Claw machines and always win on Smash Bros, among a ton of other things! :D

Well I have to admit that I like Batman better than Superman just for that fact that he is just a super Human not a superpowered being.

My power would be the wisdom of Solomon, if I had that much insight then I would be able to fix all the problems of the world with out throwing any punches.

Never heard of them, but I'll have to find some. Thanks for the tip :)

You know I'm surprised no one's said they wanted to be able to turn into a bucket of water...that's such a useful ability you know :p

During my brief but enjoyable stint as a cashier at Wal-Mart, a woman came up to my register with a bunch of toys that weren't from the Toy Department. When I asked her about it, she told me she got them all from the Claw Machine, and she even got those large ones you never could possibly believe that fragile, stupid little Claw could get! She had so many, she even offered me one! I was compelled to ask her about it, and she told me she simply is 'good at it'.

While it doesn't beat most of the powers listed, I'd give a thumbs up to that true one! Ya! Beat the devil at his own game!

I am good at them also, I used to work on them and you have to go for the ones that are not being held down by other things.
Also the operator may have that claw set up too high.

Gah! I wish I had her skill. I was at the grocery store one day and walked by the claw machine and right in front was a huge Mr. Freeze doll! I tried to get it but it was too darn heavy and kept slipping out. :(

I think that the morphing power would be best at 2 hours. It has it's disadvantages, but think about it. You're not alone when you're in that animal. The animal is also inside you. Your mind melds with it's animal instincts, and unless you wanted to be an animal for the rest of your life and never wanted to return to human, then that'd be great. But over time you'd lose control over your human self. You'd eventually be the animal and lose your hamanity. Mentally anyway :p

That's why I think that the two hours is a nice touch to the power. It gives you a sense of self control, and it prevents you from going completely insane. IMO anyway. :p

That reminds me of Alex Mack. That was good show :)

That would be actually a pretty cool power. If I could, then I'd make that my second option, even though this power and the morphing power are closely the same. :p

*sigh* one can only dream...
