I didn't see a topic about this channel, so I figured that someone here must watch G4. For those who don't know what G4 is, they were originally a digital cable channel that focuses on Video Games and Other Technology. A lot of their shows don't really deal with video games anymore, though, like Arrested Development and Cops, but oh well. They also air some Japanese shows, as well as their own original series like Code Monkeys to Attack of the Show. One of their most popular shows is X-Play. Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb host a show where they review games, talk about the latest video game news, and note the cheats in the newest games.

I sometimes watch G4.

Used to be a fan of Morgan Webb, but I hate her now ever since she went and married some rich 40-ish fatcat media exec a couple years ago...I've not bothered to watch X-Play ever since, except for the odd occasions when I find out Morgan isn't hosting a particular episode...

You hate her because of her choice of husband? That's kind of a random reason. Can't she be a talented actress and married to someone you don't like? Besides, I'm sure Rob Reid (her husband) could be an okay guy, you don't know him like she does, I'm sure.

I think that X-Play got better since they took a more serious approach to video gaming, unlike Attack of the Show

So you no longer watch x-play just because one of the hosts got married?

That doesn't seem like a good reason just to stop watching a show..

Personally, I love Code Monkeys, and I check The Feed blog about 20x a day

Part of me still resents G4 for chewing up TechTV and spitting out the bones, then feeding on itself by forgoing most of their game/tech-based shows in favor of the likes of Cops and Cheaters, but I understand the reality of the situation they were in: computer/video game geeks are too niche a market; there aren't enough shows of that nature to appease them for 24 hours and turn a profit at the same time.

My biggest beef with G4 is that they're currently undergoing an identity crisis. They can't decide whether they want to be a channel for nerds or for beer-bellied party animals. I agree that they need to stand for something and attract as many viewers as they can, but do they really have to become a low-rent, lowest common denominator Spike TV clone in order to do so? Surely they can try to attract more than just horny teenagers and drunken frat boys.

seconded and to further add, I remember I was glued to G4TV, especially with the diverse lineup of shows that the network had in 2003. I think my tv didn't leave G4 back in those days - I always stayed tune for starrcade, judgment day, cheat (with corey rouse) and a panoply of other shows that I loved. And then it changed... and I haven't been back since. for shame, it was a good network and one I loved to death!

I think this was on YYHA Yusuke rants...in fact

that eclipses my sentiment exactly

So you don't watch X-Play because the host, who wouldn't give you the time of day in real life is married to someone you don't like? That's like something a ten year old would day.

Anyway, after G4 took away the video game based programs, it just became uninteresting. Plus like another poster said, it's has no idea what it wants to be right now and just comes off like digital cable's version of Spike.

I watched some Attack of the Show and X-Play when I had dish (it wasn't on my previous cable provider's list, understandably, and I didn't have the desire to request it). But they are on Hulu, so I check on them every now and then.

Some of the skits have their moments, like Morgan Webb's "Which Game System Will Break First?" or whatever it was called.

I will admit that having beautiful super models that wouldn't waste their time with video games reading an obviously geek-generated script review does seem a bit condescending.

I wish I had G4 when they had the Star Trek 2.0 showings. I thought the "Spock Market" was a hilarious idea.

I used to watch TechTv to see Thunderbirds, and I watched Star Trek when it was on G4, but the only think I really watch now is Sasuke.

Is there any particular reason why they are playing the Spaceballs movie every day?

While I'm over what happened with TechTV, the fact that G4 can't even figure out if it wants to be the Nerd Network or SpikeTV's little brother makes the network fairly unwatchable for me. It's just so disjointed, and mostly not enjoyable.

And I never liked X Play with Adam and Morgan together.

Yeah, I know, I just figured that anyone who hasn't seen that movie would have by now but they just keep airing the death out of it.

I used to like G4, before this whole identity crisis. I only watch G4 now for X-Play (Which in it current state is actually pretty watchable as they talk more about video game, whenever it a review, talking to someone that developed the game, or a new headline. Instead of this random skit that took 5 minutes where they could have just reviewed another game. You are video gaming review show, use that.), AOTS (It is mixed for me, I like certain segments), Code Monkeys(Now this is what I expected on a network that supposed to be about gaming), and Ninja Warrior (I find that stuff to be hardcore, that and it attracting many people from across the globe to win this obstacle course).

Ever since they used air space for syndicated show, I stopped caring about what happens, as long as those shows are airing.

I don't really watch G4(partly because it comes on digital cable and I only get that at home), but a couple times that I have watched the channel, I usually saw Sasuke(which is interesting to see), Hurl(which is kinda oddly entertaining to see what contestant can hold it in the longest) and that one day where they aired all of Heroes Season 2 in order to promote Season 3 on NBC.
