INTRODUCTION</b>
Okay, I'm back, and in a much better mood I must say. The second installment of "War World" more then made up for the cliched first half.
<b>CRITIQUE</b>

My main point of contention about the first part was that it seemed like just another rehash of the Academy Award Winning film "Gladiator." However, I must say that the second half was very original, very poignant and very action packed.
First, the character development in this episode was so powerful. The interaction between Green Lantern and Hawkgirl while they were on the garbage scow and when they were stranded on the foreign planet was an emotional high point for me. To see these two strong, domineering figures show a softer side was both a surprise and a delight. And Superman really showed his colors as well. We saw his true strength and out and out ability to destroy anyone or anything here. He openly admits that he is a strong force, and yet he consciously chooses to restrain himself for the greater good.
Second, the story itself was timeless and heartfelt. The story promoted understanding all around. Hawkgirl and Green Lantern discovered that if they showed some tolerance, they can really be friends and appreciate each other. And in the end Draaga realized that there's more to life than an honorable death. He learned that in order to live, you have to embrace life and expand your horizons.
<b>CONCLUSION</b>
Okay, this episode isn't going to bring about world peace. And yes the moral is as old as life itself, but maybe in a world full of intolerance, an episode that goes out of its way to promote peace, with the occasional fight scene thrown in for good measure of course, is a welcome change.

<li>"Well, despite a hanging ending, it was overall a good episode. Superman could've been given a little more power, but it was still decent. Hawkgirl and Green Lantern's interaction was again well done. My one big question- what was in the atmosphere that affected J'onn that nuch? They kind of passed it over, I think..." -- <b>Trent Lane</b>
<li>"I'm not exactly sure what to think. I'm still stunned. That was the end? I stared at a black screen thinking, Gee, that can't be it. There has to be more.
I'm a BIG Superman fan, and although I'm not too crazy over the JL version, with it being his spotlight ep, I thought his wimpiness would be over-especially when he said "Your mine" to Mongul. Why did I bother getting even a tiny bit excited?
True, it was better than pt.1, imo, because of the Hawkgirl/GL interaction, but that's about my only reason. (I guess this proves her wings are real.)
So many questions remained unanswered. What was in the atmosphere to weaken MM? And HG's mace is that poweful? Why have anyone else on the team? I think the writers could have come up with a better idea.
And I agree with you, Bud n' Lou. MM's "He's a SUPERMAN" line made me embarrassed and I didn't even write it." -- <b>Livewire</b>

<li>"I was one of the few avid defenders of "War World Pt. 1" last week. The generic, predictable plot wasn't a problem because I knew exactly WHERE the show was going. The trick to make it enjoyable is HOW you get there, and I thought the first episode set up a fun way to get there.
Within the first 5 minutes of this new episode, almost all the goodwill I built up from part 1 got squandered. I was bitterly disappointed by the second part of "War World," for all the same reasons why I've been disappointed by all the other episodes of JL so far." -- <b>Ace The Bathound</b>
