Personally, what do you think is the best thing that happened to Cartoon Network this year? The premiere of Flapjack? The cancellation of OOJH? The switch to the Nood bumpers? What do you think?
I personally can't decide between the premiere of The Secret Saturdays and the switch to the current Nood/Paint bumpers.

Gotta agree with you there. I enjoy TSS much more than Flapjack, and Noods rock.
(But I am happy that OOJH is gone... FOREVAR! )
A three-way tie with Flapjack, TSS, and the Noods.

My top 3 for CN in 08 would be...
1.STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS
2. The Secret Saturdays.
3. Transformers Animated.
Id like to put COde Geass in their...But it's on AS not CN....DARN!:p :D
The best has to be the switch to nood bumpers, the acquisitions of TDI, 6Teen and Clone Wars.
Also the premieres of Ben 10:Alien Force, TSS, and flapjack are the best highlights of 08.

Oohh, hard one. But I'll go with the Nood bumps. The Fall bumps were by far the worst CN bumps ever and I couldn't stand them. But I could also say that the start of the Cartoonstitute was also one of the best things that happened this year, but I don't know if it counts because it didn't air yet, it just started to be produced.

I'm going with the Noods bumpers, The Secret Saturdays for having such interesting potential for an action show, Alien Force for making me actually like the Ben 10 Universe after I was so annoyed with the first series and airing TDI and 6Teens for their great humor.

Yeah, maybe it was a bit early to make this thread. Should have waited until December.
Yeah. To be honest, I was going to make a 2008 In Review thread at the end of the year, with awards like Best/Worst Show of '08, Biggest Surprise, and Event Of The Year.

For me, acquiring TDI was a step in the right direction. Secret Saturdays is building itself up to be a good show, but I don't know about being the BEST thing to happen this year. Same with Flapjack and Clone Wars.
Tying TDI with the Noods. After a long series of disappointing bumpers, we finally get a new look that's fresh and easy on the eyes, and not to mention cute and worth sticking around for. I love these little guys, and I wish I had the time to watch more of CN to see the Noods in action more.

The cancellation of OOJH.
It's not that I didn't like anything else, it's just I really hate OOJH.
Thats number 1.
2) More Chowder!
3) The Secret Saturdays
4) Flapjack
5) Great aquisitions! Although I don't care much for Skunk Fu.

Wow. That sounds like a brilliant idea! Like a special New Years thread in the style of the Oscars or something. You could call it the 2008 Toonies Thread. And then have all those awards. It would be a very fun thread.

Yeah i'm repeating what others said but, The Nood bumpers, Flapjack, and picking up TDI.
More PG shows on CN, TDI, 6teen, Clone Wars, and Naruto (Though that one was there for a while). It really opens up for more options.

Flapjack!
The Best/Worst Comedy Show of 2008: Best=Flapjack, Worst=Johnny Test
The Best/Worst Action Show of 2008: I don't watch action.
Most Surprising Moment: Reruns of ALL 2007 comedy programming being removed from the network. Billy and Mandy only just got back, and who knows when Foster's or Ed, Edd, 'N' Eddy will get their movie-promoting reruns? This is the worst moment of 2008, as well as the most surprising.
Most Defining Moment: Cartoon Network removing reruns of old programming in an attempt to revamp their programming, while alienating fans that have been watching since 2007 or earlier.
Your Opinion On 2008, As A Whole: 2007 was better.
Most Anticipated Event For 2009: Fusion Fall

This is pretty awesome! It's like we're actually planning for some sort of online award show thread.
But shouldn't the name be a bit more original? I liked Fancy Anvil but it makes no sense now since all of the shows featuring anvils are no longer on CN. I still like "Toonies" award, but that could also imply cartoons outside of CN. When I come up with a name, I'll post.

People PM either me or Cheddar their votes, the most popular opinions get put on a polls site where people can go and vote, and then we'll announce the winners. I'm thinking that Cheddar could take the votes and I make the polls, but that's just me. Of course, that means Cheddar will have to PM me the info on the top 3 (or 4) in each category.

Actually, I was thinking more that people could post their opinions as to what the winners should be, rather than making them choose an option from a poll (unless there is an Other option). There should be a big poll as to how good 2008 as a year was.
Maybe something like...
Best New Show Of 2008
Which new show do you think was best this year? (This can only count shows post-2008, so Chowder doesn't count)
Bakugan 1
Johnny Test 0
Skunk Fu 3

6teen 2
Total Drama Island 8

Star Wars: Clone Wars 7

I wouldn't vote for Johnny Test as the Best or the Worst New Show, not because I dislike it, but because Test isn't technically a "new" show; it's only "new" to Cartoon Network but has run previously for 3 years on Kids' WB. I realize that Total Drama Island is also a 3rd party acquisition, but Cartoon Network also marks the American TV debut of TDI.

I agree with Best Nood Bump, but I personally would just put the anime shows in the Best Action Cartoon category. (Not that all anime are action shows, but all of the anime that CN airs falls into that genre.) CN doesn't currently have enough anime to list it in its' own category, plus anime are cartoons, after all. I never agreed with the practice of treating Japanese cartoons as something different from the cartoons from any other nation. If we're going to list a separate category for anime, then we might as well have a Best Canadian Cartoon Category for Total Drama Island and Johnny Test and a Best British Cartoon category for Chock Socky Chooks.

We should have Best Anime on CN of Year 2008 and Best Nood Bumper
Best Nood bumper is a good idea, but best anime has no point. Anime is cartoons and only like 2 anime premiered this year anyway. Not everything has to revolve around anime or Toonami anyways.
We've done awards in the past few years, but I might advice not doing "Worst" awards because those usually end up causing arguments that lead to threads getting locked.
Also, there aren't enough shows premiered every year to warrant both Best and Worst. More than likely a few shows will end up in both categories.

how about we make the Toonies an award show for all the forums with varying award catagories for different groups and then in general animation we allow any animated film or show to participate:D

Oh, well you are going down Dharma Tribe! You are going so down, you'll be up! And remember, don't fulfill your Dharma and you get bad Karma. Now that that's out of the way, how are we to do the Nood Bumper category?
Booyah! Dahrma will face the Oceanic tribe's wrath!
Anyway: I like the idea of Best Nood bumper, but the fact is that I haven't seen it (Gwen bump).

My personal choice would be the premiere of Ben 10: Alien Force. I liked the original show and superhero-action shows in general. Alien Force is even better, with more mature characters and stories. I'm really pleased that they've got writers like Dwayne McDuffie and Matt Wayne, too.
I also like the direction Cartoon Network seems to be going with more action cartoons like Alien Force, The Secret Saturdays, and the upcoming Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
But I have to agree with others that Star Wars: Clone Wars is the best thing to happen to Cartoon Network in 2008. Although I'm only a casual Star Wars fan, I have seen the new show now and enjoy it. More importantly, people that I know that have never watched Cartoon Network (and Lord knows, I've tried) are now tuning in to see Clone Wars. I've even had one ask me about some of the other Cartoon Network shows since then. Watching Clone Wars should start exposing these people to some adverts about other animated action shows that they probably would like if they gave them a try. That's a win for me if they do because better ratings mean shows that I like have a better chance of survival.

Waaay too complicated.
Agreed. For the most part, I only care about CN here.

Best of '08 would have to be why Cartoon Network now owns Friday nights, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ben 10: Alien Force and hopefully the premiere of Batman: The Brave and the Bold will fill out the top 3 of '08.
Waaay too complicated.Yet we've done it before.
