Greetings J-fans. It's new Fresh Question time. Now I don't want any finger pointing when I ask this. ;) Just some character analysis. But in any case:
Which of the JL members do you think could most closely consider himself/herself to go rogue??

Easy, Hawk Girl. She just seems a little unstable with that thar' Mace. (Also her attitude though that of the honorable warrior makes here in my opinion the easiest to turn rogue.

zmanjz pretty much summed it all up. Not only does she not seem to get along with anyone on the team, or at least GL, but she also seems to be willing to kill on a whim without much thought at all. I guess after her, tho, I'd say GL. He seems to be completely annoyed at everyone on the team as well, and probably notices what most of the fans have noticed, Superman being less than stellar, Hawkgirl going insane with that mace, Flash being Flash , J'onn breathing too much plot gas; and he'd probably think he'd either work best alone or as their leader.

Superman has history in that area, unfortunately...but I have to agree, a Hawkgirl tantrum could be deadly. Watch out for her when she's...well...in one of her not-so-fresh moods.... :p Then again, what depths will J.J. sink to when on an Oreo kick? :wakko:

I'd have to go with Batman. It could be a bias on my part seeing how I don't like the man but he seems the type to go rogue if he thought it would justify the ends.

I am so going to get bashed for that. o well.

I could see Batman going rogue in the sense that he would tell everyone else to blow off while he takes care of thei mess. Or more likely, I could really see Batman playing with the other Leaguers to accomplish his goal. An example would be legitimately letting the JL think he went rogue, let them hunt him down, but all the while Bats is messing with them in order to draw out some baddie.

Generally, I don't consider batman's dislike of teamwork to be "Going Rogue".
Batman has internalized norms and code of conduct. Though he may not follow "Orders" and he sees any death caused by him to be a failure.
Hawkgirl on the other hand is just this close to stepping over the line.
While they are all suceptable to the "Full body takeover" (Like when Brainiac took over Bruce with nanites) Hawkgirl is the onlyone who at this point I could see crossing the line of her own accord if she so desired. (though further exploration of her character may force me to change this oppinion.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. I can't help but think it has a lot to do with where she's coming from, and what's going on (or went on) at Thanagar before she was whisked here. Does anyone know if she lost family members in the war? And although I'm being redundant here, I would love to see a Thanagarian-based story in Season 2 or Season 3. :)

Considering her character so far, I wonder what the animated Thanagar will be like. I'm picturing a place as dark and horrible as Apokolips, without the 'order' Darkseid establishes. The term 'detective' might mean something completely different there. Geez, if shes just a detective, I wonder what the crooks must be like!

Borg4of3,
Interesting. I wonder if there are several Hawkgirls on Thanagar, similar to Gort in "The Day the Earth Stood Still"--created solely to keep order, with no way of 'turning them off,' so to speak. But Gort was more 'doomsday-like,' I think.
Yeah, I picture a very dreary, dark, and creepy planet. And the villains must be very powerful (or stupid); I mean, I would think they'd think they have at least a fighting chance (of getting away with their crimes) against the testosterone-charged Thanagarians.

I could see Wonder Woman pulling a Hal Jordon as in "Paradise Lost" she would have given Felix Faust the artifacts without a second thought if the JL had not intervened. I believe, if she felt she was serving the greater good, as Hal believed, she might go rogue.

I've read what others have written and agree that Hawkgirl could easily go berserk, run amok, or just plain loose control. But I want to take a different tack; I tend to think of 'going rogue' more along the lines of putting one's self ahead of others to the extent of being unethical or immoral. In other words, the antitheses of being a hero (super or otherwise).
Each of the characters is driven to his or her heroics by some motive. Some by a sense of responsibility, some by vengeance, and some by guilt. But one seems to be driven by the thrill, the adventure, and, yes, the accolades and applause of the crowd. The problem is that my candidate to 'go rogue' isn't going to get it in a group that contains Superman, Green Lantern, or Wonder Woman. I'm talking about the Flash.
At this point I have to admit that I don't know anything about this character except what I have seen in this show. The Flash I knew is dead (Barry Allen is still dead, isn't he?). This Flash might be his nephew-in-law or he might be someone else. I simply see a character who feels overshadowed and under appreciated. One who wants to have a good time, to have fun, but doesn't bother to learn how to fly the league shuttle. I could be wrong about him; the upcoming episode spotlighting the Flash could prove my words to be nothing but gibberish. Still, I think the Flash is the most likely one to say, "To HECK with this team thing, I'm in this for me. You've heard of whirlwind romances, well, Ladies, the line forms on the right."

I'd say Superman. Timm does seem to have fun with the concept and we've already seen it three times ("Brave New Metropolis", "Legacy", and "The Call"). Personally if he does go rogue again I'd like to see Superman do it as a concious choice. Or perhaps he could go rogue from the perspective of the other members of the League, when in actuality they're being controled by an outside force and Superman has to stop them. And it would proably be one of the few chances that JL could get away with using his powers to thier fullest. A full on battle with Superman vs. WW, GL, Flash, J'onn, & HG would basicly force the creative team to utilze Supes powers to thier fullest. Follow that up with a battle of wits between Batman and Superman, since it would be nice to see him actually use his brain.
Man, adapt that as a story for season 2 and I'd be one happy camper.
Hawkgirl because you just can't trust a woman with giant wing growing out of her back ;)

I'd most like to see him "go rogue" as well. But I'd want them to somewhat follow "Tower of Babel" to do it. They'd be crazy not to use that story Idea.
Batman is definately the kind of person who would have a back up plan to quickly and efficiently take out even his close freinds/teammates, just in case it was necessary, and any story in which he felt it was necessary is one i wouldnt want to miss.
And you trust a woman with a lasso? Of course! What's not to trust?

Batman, without a doubt. His views were never totally in line with that of the other League members, and he's their best wild card.
