Weeeeellllll.... Power Rangers (http://www.rangercentral.com) and Sentai (http://www.classichero.com) have pretty much created the new genre of live action anime.
Live Action stories told and presented in a hyper-kinetic anime-ish style.

Several live-action Sailor Moon musicals have played in Japan. I have one on video, with the whole Sailor team fighting vampires(?), one of whom pretends to be a nun. I had to watch it in portions.
Geena Davis has been reported in the past as to show interest in playing Queen Beryl in a live action American Sailor Moon movie.
What else? Well, according to Corona... a live action American Ranma 1/2 movie was in development for a while, but as of now it looks dead. I think that's probably for the best.

does anyone like live action anime? Or do you prefer it to stay animated? I recall SOS having a lot of info concerning Geena Davis and her playing Queen Beryl, but nothing has come of it in like a few years. I'm not sure how an american live action version of Sailor Moon would do though. And, I had know idea about this, but they did make a live action series based on DBZ?

Don't forget the Guyver movies...
Live-action anime sucks. It's the most preposterous concept ever created in human history.

Anything ANIMATED, either Anime or likewise, tends to give me a profound sense of dread whener the idea is hinted at or worse-actually made. Its the kind of thing that makes me go 'Um, ever wondered WHY it looked better animated, dumbass?!', followed by many unpostable comments and insults on the person's mother.
I recall one time when I came home to Puerto Rico after taking a break from studying abroad and my parents were talking to me about certain events that had come to pass. Somewhere in the conversation the mention of a theatrical play based on DBZ that had come and gone came to appear and suddenly I started to question if either of them had taken up smoking or drinking.
I think I recall seeing an older newspaper ad confirming its existence, as well as me choking about it.
I think what gets to me is something along the lines of a discussion Roger Ebert made once when comparing the action sequences between Batman Beyond and the movie Batman and Robin, something among the lines of how certain exhagerrations just seem more 'plausible' in an animated show or movie than in live-action. I know there was much more to it, but what, exacly, I simply can't remember.
Does anyone know?
