Wow, that was quick. How many episodes have aired in Japan? I can't believe a dubbed episode has already been done.

*Cheering.* Two episodes have aired in Japan (maybe three by now). I can't believe a dubbed episode has already been done either. But I couldn't be happier! Not only will more people see it, they'll see it legally and in English!

God when was the last time FUNi got a Gainax title.
Awesome news. I bet Vic could do the main character.

Actually, looking at the article, FUNi is providing subbed episodes, not dubbed ones.

*Takes some cheering back.* Still good that it's licensed this early, more people will see it legally, and a dub will probably come soon (they're releasing subs in within the same month as its debut in Japan so I'd guess the dub will follow by the end of the year, since the series should be done by then I think). I'm still going to start on my fantasy cast.

Shoot, I wonder if Funi just out and out co-pro'd/co-funded it. I mean, that's a damn fast pick up.

Funimation "Shikabane Hime: AKA" Fantasy Anime Dub Cast
Makina Hoshimura - Open for Suggestions
Ouri Kagami - Vic Mignogna
Mizuki Inuhiko -
Thank you!
I want to say that Coleen Clinkenbeard could do Makina (this has nothing to do with my undying adoration for her and the fact that she smiled at me at NYAF *sigh*) but she would have to make her voice a little deeper.
Justin Cook would be hilarious as Mizuki

Possible, but if I recall correctly, FUNimation was going to try to squelch fansubs buy licensing titles early and putting out a subbed version while the series is still on the air in Japan (an "official" fansub if you will). Giving fans a way to see it legally for free does just that.

Is it possible for Funi to rock any harder? (Well if they actually licensed and released Reborn I would call them anime gods)

From the recent interviews I've read of the FUNimation C.E.O. he's all for simultaneous releases with Japan, it's just a matter of getting the Japanese companies to go along with it. It's great that we're seeing it happen so soon.

They're not perfect but I can't think of anyone so I'll go with them.

Wow, that was fast. You would've thought that Bandai would've had the upper hand with Gainax considering what Bandai's doing with GL, but I guess FUNi's sudden power in the US anime industry is making headway now.
Considering how progressive Gainax tends to be sometimes I guess we shouldn't be surprised that they would try this experiment that FUNi wants to do first. Considering how fast the subbed episodes are coming, I bet FUNi's probably already starting to cast/dub the series as we speak.

^^No, seriously when was the last time FUNi got a Gainax show? Have they ever?

...That was unexpected. Wish it was a bit faster then 2 weeks, but anything to get official subtitles out early is good.

This is how you fight fansubs and illegal downloads, beat them at their own game. Ok not beating them more like matching.

Yeah, shows those illegal translators. FUNimation must be having fun torturing them by licensing the anime this early.

I'm fairly certain this is their first.
I'm also fairly certain FUNi said that they would be doign a dub episode for release by the end of the month. AS long as they have a script they could probably pound one out in about 2-3 days overall, mayeb one more for mixing.

My only hope is that people who watch these subs have the patience to wait for FUNi's release each week rather than watch the first episode FUNi releases and then go find the rest that have aired in Japan and keep watching from the rate it comes out in Japan.
Great as this is, if they could have kicked it up even a week earlier I see the success rate being much higher. Hopefully it still works out. I know I'll be watching it on FUNi's providers.

Wonder if these themes will be dubbed into english as well. Because like Ouran and OP. This seems to be like FUNimation's big thing as well. And dude, the voice actors who lend their acting talents can sing as well.
