Kinda reminded me of the comic book Geeksville, but much better. So this was a special only? I WANT TO SEE THIS AS A SERIES! Please, please, please do not let this be the only episode!

That show is intriging and funny, it's like an animated series based on us, the Sci-fi loveing, comic book cherising, taking-role-playing-games-too seriously, cartoon and anime fanatic, fans.

Oh, and that whole trivia question sequence reminded me of the Beat the Geeks game show! And I loved it when they were about to get it over with a fist fight and that kid interrputed and said, "Let's finish this like men!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, that was a great line. And the kid that kept on getting beaten and hit and eaten by birds, and all the very UN PC humor in the show. I am glad to see that there is room for this kind of programming. At last, Adult Swim has a show worthy of the line up. I'd much rather see this on than the upteenth re-run of the Brak Show anyday.

This show was disturbing for two reasons. One, It reminded me too much of me and my friends. and Two, it took it to an insane extreme.
At times I didn't know whether to laugh or be horrified. I think I'll go with Conan O'Brien's general reaction. Horror transforming into acceptance.

eltingville was very impressive wonder how long we'll have to wait for a season to come around. i loved it when that kid got his pack of cards and was all excited then the club went through the cards and they all sucked..reminds me of back in the day
I really enjoyed the pilot episode of "Welcome to Etingville" If I have to do anything to make this into a show I'll do it. Oh and Matt Wilson I wasd wondering if you knew the name of that weird skeleton-like soorceror they foought in that D&D fantasy sequence. I can't remember it.

The characters in this show would be perfect for one of those your-personality-is-simular-to-...... books.

Lord Atrocity.
Classic misdirection humor--you think they actually care about the kid who was just run over by a moped and is lying in a pool of blood...but they just pick through his scattered cards. "Got it...got it...got it...have it...got it...have it...." :D

God, that show was funny. Not only did it adapt the comic books faithfully, but it added to it as well. As much as we'd all love to deny it we're all a little like those guys.
:D
One of the best parts was the location of the comic books store in the slum. Why do they all show up there? I also loved the role-playing scene at the beginning (I've been there) and the trivia off (why do I know that stuff?).
This show has to come back.

If you guys liked that, you should read "Milk and Cheese". As most of you already know, it's by the same guy, and it's funny as hell!
crap, I missed it :(. I saw the very end though from the part were they got kicked out of the store. What was that toy of anyway?

I thought that this show was just great. The thing that I enjoyed most of all was the attention to detail that this show put forth. All of the little in-jokes that fanboys would know. I absolutly despise it when you pick up on a subtle joke, in say, The Simpsons, and you just keep it to yourself. But, seconds later the story pounds that subtle joke into your forehead by having a character read a sign, or talk about the little joke during an entire scene. I'm not sure if anyone else is familiar with this. But, in Eltingville, the undertone was great. Like the spray painted "All Your Base Are Belong to Us" at the theater, or the fact that during every dream sequence, the main characters all had clean complexions. No zits, which is usually true. When you imagine yourself somewhere, you usually don't focus on your pox marks, you focus on yourself being smooth. I guess I'm trying to say that this show has a very fine humor to it. It's not as broad as the Simpsons, but it's not as out there as Freakazoid! was. This show runs a nice fine line that I find lacking in a lot of shows out there right now.

Hah, that was a great, I hope they make Eltingville into a series. How can you not enjoy a show that has references to The Red Shoe Diaries and Scream, Blacula, Scream? Classic stuff.
"Hah! Do you think I landed yesterday?"
"No! The impact would have killed us all!"

The toy was Boba Fett, the bounty hunter from star wars that only gets a few minutes of airtime in the films but has a TREMENDOUS cult following and fanbase. Boba Fett is like the holy grail of the sci-fi fanboy :)
(Except i`m more partial to Amanaman... a FAR more obscure character seen in return of the jedi!)
I knew a LOT of the answers to the trivia questions, but even when I didnt know a question I still knew the movie or comic they were talking about...

I've been reading and enjoying Evan Dorkin's comics for years. I think that a good job was done adapting the Fan Four's antics to the small screen, however I do have one tiny whine. (ready?) Why did they choose to make them even more obnoxious? I mean they were always pretty messed up, but stealing from children and knocking people over? I guess I'm being hyper-sensitive because pert of my enjoyment/shame in reading about these goofs was that I could relate all too well with them.

I've read all their appearances and I think that they've always been this obnoxious. They stole from their parents, bullied their siblings, and have done all sorts of other things...to each other, but if they treat their friends that way how would you expect them to treat other non-fans?
What did you all think about the absence of Marvel and DC characters. It didn't bother me too much--the ones that Dorkin came up with were pretty much the same (plus some irony).

Did anyone else notice that Evan Dorkin played Iron Jaw? He's actually a pretty good actor.

It's unfortunate and I don't quite understand it. He certainly dropped enough Star Wars and Star Trek references. I hope that we'll see future episodes that DO include them.
BTW: I noticed you're a "Zim" fan so you might want to check this very twisted web-site:

Well, it was OK, but I wouldn't say I loved it. I just have a creepy feeling that all future eps will be nearly the same as the pilot.
