Madhouse is back animating one the Fall's most gorgeous titles, Casshern Sins.
In a Reboot of the franchise, Tatsunoko Productions takes the series and story of Casshern down a darker path than before.

Braiking Boss, ruler of the robots enslaved humanity and ruled over the world after robots-have becomes self-aware.
A girl named Luna, summoned by the people, in order to bring salvation of mankind. Fearing her as a potential threat, Braiking sent three of his most powerful cyborg warriors to dispose of Luna: Casshern, Dio and Leda. Casshern, the strongest warrior, manages to track down and kill Luna, however, this triggers a cataclysmic event which sets into motion the end of the world.
Hundreds of years later, the world's atmosphere is filled with poison, and, due to the inability of most remaining humans to reproduce, as well as the constant threat posed by the robots, humanity is on the brink of extinction.
Robots fare little better, fearing death as much as humans do: the poisonous environment quickly causes their mechanical bodies to rust and corrode, forcing them to constantly replace their damaged parts. In this wretched time and place, Casshern, who had disappeared following the assassination of Luna, returns with no memory of who he is or what he had done.

As he embarks on a journey to find out the truth about himself, he defends the humans against the robots

It may sound familiar is aspects of the story, but not only is the animation beautiful, the action is insanely phenomenal, and even after a episode you are left with wanting more and attached to the characters.

(Ringo! She's SO ADORABLE! *Squeal!*)

So yeah.
Anyone else check it out?

this post apocalyptic world is incredibly depressing, still an awesome series though. It reminds me a lot of Kikaider.

Probably one of my favorites (http://zoid9000animeblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/wrapping-up-another-day.html) this season, despite being pretty depressing. The animation alone definitely makes it worth watching. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I remember watching the OVA as a seven year-old on Sci-Fi's saturday morning anime block.

I'm a fan of the retro look of this. While I never really followed the original series, I was really looking forward to see how this went. So far I'm enjoying it although it's a tad depressing.

Whoa, is this based on the newer movie or the old anime? I'd rather it be on the new movie.

The new movie was horrible, this seems more like it's reworking the series from the ground up at times.

Was the original series quite this dark?

The original show had its share of drama, but I always thought it was more of a straight sci-fi action series...and not nearly as depressing as Sins.

I love the movie. The battles scenes and effects are freaking amazing.
