I thought it would be fun to ask this "What If" question. Basically, what anime series/OVA/movies would you like to see aired on TV and why? You don't have to be limited to whatever channel airs anime currently, it could be any network that doesn't air anime. Also, people who live internationally can chime in as well.

Hitman Reborn and Eyeshield 21, because I believe that these 2 series need exposure. Eyeshiled 21, just because it's based around football, and it's football season right now, also, it's not that complicated to watch and sort of has that DBZ like action. Hitman Reborn just because it's a fun series to just watch. Finally One Piece, just to throw it out there, but I'll leave someone else to explain that one.

I want to see One Piece on the air again. DVDs are swell but it can't grow it's viewership effectively without a regular broadcast slot.

As for series that aren't on US television yet...

I'd like to see Soul Eater on TV because it's IMO one the best shows that's still airing in Japan.

From the "too little, too late" category I'd throw in Hunter x Hunter and GaoGaiGar because both would have been great to see on US television but now they don't really have a chance.

And as always, I want SGT Frog on US television because it's a great show and could draw more mainstream viewers to Japanese animation.

In Québec, anime in our local language, french, is almost non-existant. Right now there's Naruto and Bakugan, that's it. But a lot of local channels could integrate anime into their programming.

We have a channel dedicated to Sci-fi, technology, fantasy and horror series called Ztélé. It would be a perfect place for the Gundam series, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai 7, Outlaw Star, Trigun, Ghost in the shell ect. It's an all around Geek TV, yet not a single animated program on it's schedule right now.

We also have Historia, a french history channel. On this station I would play samurai anime like Kenshin or Tsukikage Ran, maybe Samurai Champloo. And war and political animes like Flag and Grave of the fireflies.

Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon movies go to ArtTV (like the name implies, the artistic channel), along with series like Mushishi and Kino's journey. Because Anime can be art too you know! :D

And finally Teletoon, canada's cartoon network, for everything else.

Monster should air on TV, in an hour-long block on a more mainstream channel (TNT or maybe even FOX or The CW, maybe?).

The first anime I wished to be on Adult Swim was three years ago when I watched Avenger. The series spoke to me, it was all serious and had martial arts and I was like "This would so go well with the action lineup!" I also saw Onegai Teacher that year and figured it could bring in the female demographic. It's damn pretty good.

Two years ago I happened across GTO and Desert Punk. They [Onizuka and Kanta] are both idiots, but are cool idiots that remind you of Spike and Mugen, so I figured put them on [AS]. So yeah.

Kaleido Star - It has eye candy, it's good for all ages, and has a nice story. I always wanted to see it on general CN.

Kinda embrassing, but I was hoping that Pretty Cure show somehow made it on the now cancelled Toonami. I saw a couple of pictures and read a general premise and it seemed kinda cool.

I'd also love to see One Piece return to TV. I'd love to see the rest that Skypeia story.

The New Dr.Slump: we need Dr. Slump in U.S. shores...Like DB/DBZ its one of toriyama-san's master pieces. The mangas great & The anime could Get just as high Ratings on CN as DB/DBZ did.:D

Claymore: I can almost say it's destined to air on IFC. Lets see they seem to have a liking for action anime with female leads. Yeah Claymore seems perfect for IFC sometime next year.

Monster: This is a great intelligent anime, it's not action packed and can be a bit show but I still think it could do well on TV. The question is where? I don't see it working on Scifi, or IFC. Adult Swim seems t be the best place but even that is unlikely. Still this show should go somewhere. I could see it and say detective conan airing on TNT they could call the block "Animated Drama" to fit in with their current theme.

Hey I can dream can't I?

Haruhi Suzumaya- Just try and count the number of kickass references in this show...

Mai-Hime-This in my opinion is one of the magical girl shows up there with (dare I say it) Sailor Moon...

One Piece- Self explanatory...

Eyeshield 21- Football...with DBZ!!!!

Gintama- Self explanatory...

Yeah, Eyeshield 21 was pretty much ruined. Hopefully FUNimation will revive the anime and show it in a network (Cartoon Network preferably).

I would be curious to see how the show would fare on Nickelodeon. I know they wanted a kid-friendly dub, but it seems like it would have a chance to do well on the network. At least if Nick can handle a third-party show.

I also wonder how Shin-Chan would have done if it aired on CN proper. I know in its current form, the dub is too vulgar to air on CN without major rewrites. Still, I wonder how a dub aimed more towards kids, but that adults can still watch(kinda like the Phuuz dub) would fare on CN.

As unfair as it sounds, I'd like to see some of the girly anime back on that I watched as a kid- Tenchi, Sailor Moon, and Hamtaro. Even if their dubs and edits are unjust. Just so that we get more stuff aired that is not shonen (DBZ, Naruto, etc). I loved Tenchi (and used to be able to rattle off all the girls names and bios), and used to pretend to be Sailor Moon, so it would be like revisiting my childhood.

Yeah.
Monster would go great on TNT or even FX though is it THAT EDGY? In tems of "Drama" itself? I'm not that familiar with it.
Or dare I say Fox? With shows like Prison Break and etc?
It would fit.
But a adult anime on primetime Nation television!?
Yeah.. I can REALLY dream.

Oh.
BECK Mongolian Chop Squad & Air Gear.
I've said it before a few times.
They would be a PERFECT fit on FUSE.
That is if FUSE still wanted to air anime.

Nana for Fuse too.

I'm hoping that MuchMusic takes another gamble with anime and gives NANA a shot in Canada. Especially since the dub is being done in Vancouver. It would also be cool if Corus continues experimenting with anime on their non-YTV stations and tries to get either NANA or Honey and Clover for W, although that would require the station to either reach to a slightly different audience or launch an above average advertising campaign.

The sad thing is that either of those outcomes are actually more likely than seeing more anime on YTV. :(

I liked Tenchi and Sailor Moon when it was on. (Didn't care for Hamtaro) It would be nice to see all that on again, and Cardcaptor Sakura on CN as well.

*Keep in mind that I'm from Norway, and none of the series below have been aired here*

One Piece, because I consider it the best series ever.
Dragonball, because I'd like to have a way to see it properly without all of FUNi's b******t.
Haruhi, because it's awesome.
Everything else made by Kyoto Animation, because those are awesome too.
Death Note, because it's awesome.
Code Geass, because (I'm starting to feel like a broken record) it's awesome.

*In case you're wondering what we actually DO get here... Yu-Gi-Oh GX, (Duel Monsters, however, has never aired in Norway) Duel Masters, Beyblade, Pokemon, Bakugan, B-Daman... Notice anything all those shows have in common? Nothing but "I will stop your plans by... BEATING YOU IN SOME GAME!!!"-shows...*

I'm going to post this information in a new thread about things airing now and I hope I can start keeping tabs on it and give an actual update weekly.

My-Hime is currently airing in the Anime Selects section for Comcast Digital Cable OnDemand.

-I think Yakitate Japan could work on Food Network. Do I need to explain why?

-Gintama would be perfect for Comedy Central or TBS. It doesn't rely on puns that get lost in translation or rely too heavily on references that foreign audiences won't get.

-Prince of Tennis and Eyeshield 21 deserve a second chance. Put them on ESPN. The same goes for Slam Dunk, it needs a proper release.

-I don't know why, but Casshern SINS screams CSB. Or FX.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: While this series did have rocky start, and by rocky I mean pretty weak, I thought that it improved so much in seasons two and three. I would like to see the conclusion of the series with season four and see what happens with the characters, even though most people I've heard from hated the ending. Still, since I actually liked the ending to Adventures 02, I don't think I could hate GX's ending either.

One Piece: Obvious reasons.

MAR: Now when this series first aired on Toonami, I thought that I could get into it. Then, for some reason, they skipped like a chunk of episodes every week, thus causing me and probably a whole lot of other people to be confused and less interested in the series. If it aired on TV again in the right order, then I think that it would work out better, despite how Viz dubbed around fifty episodes.

Atashinchi - A possible spin-off of Shin Chan that airs on TV Asahi and since Shin guest starred on that show, I think this would be a good time for it to be dubbed.

Also, Chibi Maruko Chan and Sazae-san should also be dubbed because they're family-oriented.

Hajime no Ippo/Fighting Spirit- In an age where most anime for the family set is mindless "Buy our toys/trading cards/random piles of crap!" drivel, this story would look like night and day. Then again, I could only imagine the difficulty in getting it on TV.

"Gloves? What do they do?" "They protect the fighter's hands." "That's it?"

Wouldn't D.Gray-man have WAY too many references to the Bible for it to even be remotely possible to have it air on TV? I mean, if One Piece couldn't even have Enel think he's a god, then I really don't see how DGM can get away with everyone in the show, both the heroes and villains, claiming that they're the "apostles of God", plus the fact that the Noah-clan's backstory is clearly derived from Noah's Ark

Evangelion aired on TV with all the religious references intact.

Kodocha would be a good fit for Cartoon Network. Its funny, its cute, and, more importantly, there's pretty much no objectionable content. So it wouldn't need any major editing.

And, since Sci-Fi Channel is currently digging old CPM titles out of obscurity, I'd like to see Utena, World of Narue, Magic Users Club, and Legend of Himiko air there. Sure, a lot of those titles aren't technically "sci-fi"; but I never got to finish those shows and I'd like to see how they end. :p

I'm going to be crazy and wish for Detective Conan on CBS.

1)I want to see an anime series aired in prime time on network television.

2)The series could fit right in with the plethora of crime shows on the network.

That show is so fantastic, more people need to see it. But as it's been mentioned, there's nowhere for it to air. :(

It would be nice to see Sailor Moon and Tenchi Muyo on TV again, if nothing else.

Slayers - It was on the International Channel (I think it's called the AZN Channel now or something) a long time ago, but I think it deserves a revival, especially considering the new Slayers REVOLUTION that just came out. Would probably work best for Adult Swim because of jokes about Lina's chest.

It would be rather cool, but I think Ranma 1/2 is probably out of the question, unless they wanted to spend money on giving everybody "digital bikinis" :P

And being a big fan of shoujo anime, I think TV needs more of that in general ;) Too many "for boys" or "gender neutral" stuff.

Gintama. I've read a bit of the manga and it's awesome. I thought it would be the perfect show to shape Toonami up with Naruto fading in popularity slowly and One Piece just not making it for obvious reasons. But now I figure Sci-Fi would be the best place for it to go.

Darker Than Black would fit perfectly on Sci-Fi. It's not too long, has a pretty mysterious (but interesting) premise that's definitely sci-fi in type, and FUNi is releasing the first volume next month.
