How can a bunch of fans on the internet really make a difference? Do any of us even have Nielsen boxes? Cause it doesn't really matter if we don't.

I think letters actually work. Emails and online petitions don't.
Plus I don't care if the PPG special does good or not.

It's impossible. First off, PPG's popularity has greatly dropped since like '99 or '00. On top of that, though it may seem like there are a lot of fans of old CN on the net, most of them are just outside of CN's demo (like me) or waaay outside of CN's demographic. They don't care about us. Plus, even if everyone on this forum was under 14 and every single one of us watched the special, it wouldn't matter unless we all had Nielson boxes, which most of us don't.

What I don't understand is why can't we order our own Neilson boxes. Why do they have to contact us at random. Just allow us to order one, hook it up to our TVs, and there you go. It's as simple as that (you know, if you don't count the dismantling of your TV sets in the process of installation).

Not necessarily. There is a line to order more boxes, but usually only people who already own boxes have the number.

They say that people who are contacted at random can be trusted more than people who volunteer, as the people who volunteer are more likely to have an agenda. Of course, the whole system reeks of inaccuracy as it currently stands, but it’s the only game in town and the networks pretty much have to rely on it.

Have you been ever been contacted by Neilson? If you have, did you accept? If done of the above happened, then you don't have it.

People who suggest this forget one important detail: demographs. If they tracked what channel the TV was on, they'd have no idea who was watching it. The Neilsons actually make you keep track of who's watching the TV when.

That's not true, Kim Possible any one? It was thanks to those fans that Kim Possible got a 4th season and it was enjoyable. I'm not sure about Cartoon Network but Nick and Disney seem ok with bringing shows back to life in some other form or what not. We can at least give the PowerPuff Girls high ratings so it can go out with a bang. Now I didn't know about the marrathon, so thanks for the heads up on it.

But we can't give it high ratings if we don't have Nielsen boxes. It's as simple as that.
And since I can get the entire series on DVD early next year (for a price I consider a steal) I have no incentive to watch the marathon to be honest.

Give the PPG special high ratings? Unless all of us here own Nielsen junction boxes, it can't be done. Most of us are older than CN's target demographic anyway. Cartoon Network couldn't care less what fans over the age of 13 want to see on the channel, let alone 39-year-old cranks like myself.
And even if we could do that, what's that supposed to accomplish? This will make Craig McCracken want to renew the series and that CN will put PPG back on the air? Not going to happen. McCraken is too busy working on Cartoonstitute to want to relaunch The Powerpuff Girls. Instead of planning these unrealistic endeavors, we should be happy to just be getting a special.

Well, if the special does well, PPG could be put back on the air, in the form of reruns. They could air that one last unaired episode too. But putting it back into production is virtually impossible.

Even if this special does well, I don't think another special will be done. This special is being done for the 10th anniversary. A second follow-up special would be an unnecessary waste of money CN doesn't have right now, plus Craig McCracken is busy with Cartoonstitute right now and wouldn't be able to work on the special.

You know Cartoon Network might bring The PowerPuff Girls Anime series to America if it does well so you never know what might happen. Besides I thought I read in an article that talked about Toonami's cancellation that they might already have plans to bring the Anime series to America finally. So if that is correct maybe just maybe if this marathon and special does well they might actually do it. So lets all try our best and wish for the best. You never know what will happen.

Well, that's a given. I'm pretty sure the anime will be coming over no matter what. I was just saying that a new special won't happen because that's something that they need people to work on, and I don't think they necessarily have those people right now. Most of the people who worked on PPG in the good old days of Hanna-Barbera either are busy working on other stuff at Cartoon Network right now or no longer work at Cartoon Network period.

I don't see the point in trying to make the special have the highest ratings on CN. I like the Power Puff Girls, but CN isn't really going to care about what I think since I'm outside of their target audience. I just think that it's better to just be happy with actually getting a special to begin with and just enjoy it for that.

I still love the pre-movie episodes, but see no need to request for a continuation of the show. Not only was the latter half of the show disappointing, but it's been nearly four years since the show ended in the first place, and Craig has moved onto bigger and better things(ie; Foster's and the Cartoonsistute). I'm also not planning on checking out much of the marathon, since I'm more than likely going to buy the upcoming set anyway.

Just because most of us here aren't rallying behind this unrealistic goal of giving the PPG special the highest ratings that CN has ever had doesn't mean that we're not fans. It just means that we're rational enough to understand that such a lofty goal cannot be achieved by a handful of people on an internet message board (none of whom are Neilsen families).

It just means that we're rational enough to understand that such a lofty goal cannot be achieved by a handful of people on an internet message board (none of whom are Neilsen families).
And even if we could make this happen, I don't see what making the PPG special the highest rated thing in CN history is supposed to accomplish. It wouldn't bring the show back (except maybe in reruns), and we're not going to receive money, a new car or a free trip to Aruba for doing so, so where's my incentive to give this special high ratings?
I don't have to prove my fandom to anyone; I enjoyed PPG up until the movie, which was just "eh" to me, and the TV episodes after that were pretty bad, actually. If I wish to show my love for the 'Puffs, I'll do it with my dollars and purchase the DVDs.
While I think that new episodes are out of the question, I think that a permanent slot on the schedule because of good ratings is plausible.
Mickialla

We can be fans of PPG and be realistic at the same time. I'd like for PPG to come back (if it was done by Craig himself), but there are a lot of things stopping that from happening, like:
- PPG has reached the 78 episode limit, no new episodes can be made without breaking the limit, which PPG probably could've done if it was still popular 4 or 5 years ago, but now, when it's popularity has gone down amongst kids, it's unlikely.
- Cartoon Network, under new management, is moving away from its recent past in order to create a new image for itself under fresh titles like Chowder, Flapjack, Alien Force, TSS, Brave and the Bold, and Clone Wars. PPG sadly isn't a part of that "new image" because it was a part of CN's recent past (it ended in 2005).
- Let's say we resided in a world where all of us owned Nielsen boxes and CN's demographic was for us and the PPG special did amazing and they put the episodes back into production. Craig McCracken wouldn't be working on the show. He's busy with Cartoonstitute right now and so the PPG revival would be done by a new team who were unfamiliar with the vibe McCracken initially wanted in the show. Therefore, the new PPG episodes would disgrace PPG's name with the new episodes, just like the post-movie episodes. Now would you rather remember PPG for being a good series that ended, or would you rather remember it as a series that used to be good and now is terrible and is still being produced?? I'd rather have the former.
Plus, we have no control over the matter. TheEvilness, how old are you? Do you have a Nielsen box? If you are above 14 and don't have a Nielsen box, you're powerless. If you got 100 of your friends together and watched the PPG special and all of its encores, it wouldn't do a thing unless you watched it on a TV that had a Nielsen box and if the house you watched it in was that of a person under 14 who usually has control of the TV during those hours.
Therefore, how good the PPG special does isn't in our hands, and if it was, the best we'd get would be reruns on weekdays again, which frankly, I'd still be happy with.

You do realize that, unlike PPG, Star Wars is actually pretty well known (you don't have to watch a single movie to get a lot of the references/homages in other cartoons) and it's fanbase has a decent chunk of people in the Tween demographic. Powerpuff Girls however, lost popularity years ago, has a dwindling fanbase, and most of the only fans currently left are outside the Tween demographic. Couple that with the fact that none of us have Nielson boxes, then you see we have next to no chance.

Realistically, CN's current mind set would seem to suggest that if classic Cartoon Network shows (whatever that means; I assume you mean the Cartoon-Cartoons, or are you referring to old Hanna-Barbera reruns?) would be shown anywhere, they'd more likely be run on Boomerang, but even if CN did start airing those, don't expect the Test reruns to go away anytime soon. CN isn't going to stop running Johnny Test as long as it puts butts in seats.
Anyway, I'd like to point out 2 things:
1.) Just because CN runs Johnny Test ad nausea doesn't mean you have to sit through it every time, and
2.) It doesn't have to be one or the other. Ideally, there's enough room on CN for both. Just because one person doesn't like a particular show doesn't automatically mean that said show should be yanked off the schedule or wished away.
Fewer airings of Johnny Test is a more realistic desire than wanting it to go away entirely.

Cartoon Network is available in more homes than Boomerang is. I don't see why Turner can't run the Cartoon-Cartoon shows as a daily block on CN.

Three of them already air there: Dexter's Lab, Cow & Chicken and Johnny Bravo.
And moving all of the Cartoon-Cartoons to Boomerang would only be "a good thing" for those who get Boomerang; a lot of people don't. Unless you're suggesting making Boomerang basic cable, that's a king-sized fly in the ointment that you seem to have overlooked.
Though I don't see what any of this has to do with the PPG special or Johnny Test.
