In the 79-80 tv season (i think), both the worlds greatest superfriends and plastic man (both based on dc comics) aired on ABC, along with Spider-Woman (based on a marvel comic). Has this ever happened before or afterwards (rival comic companies both having shows on the same network)?

Yeah

Batman, Spider-Man and X-Men were all on Fox in the 90's
Batman Beyond, Static Shock and X-Men Evolution were on the WB
Spectacular Spider-Man, Legion of Superheroes and The Batman were on The CW together earlier this year

I'd say it's pretty common

Back then, everyone co-existed in peace on Saturday Morning. You could have rival companies airing shows back to back on any Network.

Superhero shows co-existed with each other, not to mention with cute & cuddly shows; Rival companies aired their shows alongside each other on all three networks (Gummi Bears & Smurfs aired back to back on NBC; Darkwing Duck and the Addams Family on ABC years later; etc).

Good times, good times...

On the same note, it was kind of funny to see slimer (albiet the one from the live action movie) in the muppet babies intro (a cbs show) considering that at the same time the real ghostbusters featuring an animated slimer was airing on a rival network (abc).

CBS had The New Adventures of Batman and Robin in the late 1970's at the same time they were seen in a couple of the SuperFriends series which aired on ABC.

and to add then while SuperFriends was made by Hanna-Barbara, it's the Filmation folks who did the new adventures of Batman and Robin.
