Every time I walk down a cookie aisle at a supermarket, I notice choco/mallow/graham treats like Pinwheels up on the shelf. But the one thing I never see is Mallomars. I understand they are somewhat seasonal, because they tend to melt during the summer months. But I haven't seen a single Mallomars box in years. Is it a regional thing? I live in the Los Angeles area.
Can someone shed some light on this problem? I want to get some Mallomars.

According to my mother, Mallomars are year-round in New York (or used to be when she was growing up), but down here in the DC area they're definitely seasonal. In fact, I just asked her about them and she said they should start showing up in the local supermarkets in a few weeks.

Update: I found Mallomars! They were at my local Gelson's. I tried them, and I daresay they don't taste exactly the same as they did in my childhood. It's as if they're using a different kind of chocolate shell to prevent melting. But it could completely be my imagination.
