I saw Super Troopers this past week, and I have to say it was WAY better than what I expected it to be. If you take the sprit of the classic comedies like Caddyshack, Cannonball Run, some of the National Lampoon comedies from the 80's and other classic comedies from that time period, you have the sprit of Super Troopers. And the Afghanimation segment is worth the ticket price alone. It's a smart, releveant comedy that goes back to the basics of great comedies of the past, and that is such a relief in this day and age where the gross out humor and stupid jokes are what comedies are about. I cannot recommend this movie enough.

I wouldn't doubt that Super Troopers is funny, I actually want to see it for some reason. But the marketing and the ad campaign for it are absolutely dreadful.

The ad campaign probably sucks because of the budget. But it's like I said in an earlier thread about this movie: Everyone should see it.

The day I went to see it, the concession stand guy asked me what movie I was going to see. When I told him, all he said was "Funny funny funny funny movie." And the man was right. This movie is pure gold.

I really had no expectations for this movie whatsoever based on the commercials. I agree the ads suck big time. The only reason I saw it was due to the fact some friends of mine had other plans that fell thru-Damon Wayans was performing at a comedy club and we had free tickets to see him but he cancelled so we had no desire to go, so we went to a movie instead, and I had enough curiosity based on word of mouth to see it, and the other people I was with wanted to see the movie too. I only hope that by posting a thread about it, I inspire others to see it. This movie should be on this week's top ten list, no doubt. It deserves to sell out.
