As expected We Were Soldiers was the top of the box office, taking in a nice $20 million, although it was expected to take in a bit more than that. Right behind was the new Josh Harnett comedy 40 Days & 40 Nights. Box-Office stayed relatively the same, with only Queen of the Damned taking a $9 million dolloar plunge from last week's earnings. Below is the complete box office stats:

1. We Were Soldiers - $20,200,00 ($20.2 mill)
2. 40 Days & 40 Nights - $12,500,000 ($12.5 mill)
3. John Q - $8,400,000 ($51.1 mill)
4. Dragonfly - $6,800,000 ($19.4 mill)
5. Return to Never Land - $6,500,000 ($35.3 mill)
6. Queen of the Damned - $5,825,000 ($23.8 mill)
7. Big Fat Liar - $4,800,000 ($38.8 mill)
8. A Beautiful Mind - $4,400,000 ($138.7 mill)
9. Crossroads - $4,035,000 ($31.2 mill)
10. The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring - $3,125,000 ($287.4 mill)

The two big movies opening next week are The Time Machine with Guy Pearce and All About The Benjamins with Ice Cube. The Time Machine is expected to take in a hefty opening weekend of around $30 million. It should have no problem taking the top slot of the box office.

My mom and dad saw "We Were Soliders" last night.

After all, it won't be surprising to see "The Time Machine" plunge "We Were Soliders" to like Number 5 next week.

I may read the original "Time Machine" novel in English after the ELA's.

Not suprising "Lord of the Rings" is still on the chart. I just purchased LOTR TCG's from a local store yesterday, where it was among fuss very similar to tonight's "Etingville" special on Adult Swim and the guy at the cash register announced some news on the movie's progress. Also, just this morning, here on Long Island, WB11 (WPIX-TV, New York City) aired a special on LOTR. There was even an ad announcing it was in theatres worldwide and nominated for the most Academy Awards. Looks like THIS trilogy is looking to top "Star Wars."

What about Showtime? Doesn't that open next week too or is that the following week?

Hey LOTR's back in the top 10! Looks like it'll reach $300 mil.

I saw John Q this weekend. I liked it, I'd give it a B. I can understand why it's been critically panned, some of the dialogue and scenes were written sorty clunky, sorty preachy, many of the characters were one-dimensional, etc. But I think it's one of those kinds of movies you shouldn't nitpick about and should just enjoy the heart behind it. Denzel had another great performance in it. And it's a very emotional movie. Good fun.

I don't know what to make of We Were Soldiers. Critically it's been received pretty well, but the commercials I've seen for it look awful. I doubt I'll be seeing it. Time Machine looks cool though.
