Robin was in the original Batman Returns script, but they never filmed scenes with him. Personally I don't know of any, but I'm pretty sure there are some- perhaps there is a bootleg "R" Batman Returns out there somewhere?

Depends where you live....
If you're in the UK, there may be some scenes American viewers have seen but you haven't.....here's IMDB's list of alternate versions of the film:

Tim Burton had wanted to cast one of the Wayans brothers as Robin in Batman Returns, but WB wouldn?t let him.
And people still somehow got it in their heads that Burton is the best man to direct the next Batman.

It was Marlon Wayans. And he was close enough to being IN the movie that Kenner made a ROBIN figure based on it.
Yes, I was kidding about there being deleted scenes with Robin.

I would never watch a movie with one of them in it, let alone Batman

Was that their attempt to diversify the Batman universe? Call me crazy, but there are some things you don't mess with. Robin was a white kid in the comics, the 60's tv show, every animated tv show, so why try to make him black? If anything it would make people angry at using the "token" angle like with using the Green Lantern they are using in JL (even though he appeared in the comics, so it gives him credibility). Then again, there was the switching of Julie Newmar to Eartha Kitt as Catwoman in the 60's Batman show which drew complaints with my family members at the time I watched it, but that's a different story.
Or, for another example, making Clark's friend on Smallville black. Even though the character appeared in the comics, he was white. So changing him to a black person immediately let out cries of trying to fill the "token" black kid quota for tv series.

I agree. I'm not racist or anything, but I hate it when "diversity" is shoved down our throats. Watch "Scream". Then watch "Scream 2". Diversity should be natural, they shouldn't make people black just to make them black.
I hate when character's races are changed. I like Will Smith, but Jim West is a white boy, plain and simple.
If Marlon Wayans had played Robin, I would have shot myself.

mabey if the did a "Scary superhero movie".
I hate it too. me being a black person to me it seems more racist.
they should just invent new characters if they want diveristy or use ones who were already black.

Think that's bad? Watch SCARY MOVIE. Then watch SCARY MOVIE 2. The black characters came back to life. COME ON! That one girl got stabbed to death during SHAKESPHEARE IN LOVE. And the guy, he...well, we all remember how he died. But they turn up in SM2, alive and well.

They say kids will relate more to someone of their race or age or whatever, yeah fine whatever. Can someone show me proof of this? A character's actions are what cause me to like them. I don't know about anyone else. I didn't turn my TV on at age 5 and say "I like Batman. He's a white guy in a funny looking suit."

in that interview on this site it said Bruce used John because he was the green Lantern less people wanted.(or something like dat)
Plus i think that made it easier for Bruce to alter his background if he wanted.

Wrong. The Robin figure was already produced and was going to be a part of a comics related line that never saw the light of day. The same type of thing occured with the Batlink Batman Beyond line. Most of those figures were going to be a comic related line and Hasbro decided to stick BB heads on them and go with a last ditch BB money maker. That's why there is a Robin in the line. That's also why you have a giant headed spider Mr. Freeze and boxed talking Batman figures(which are comic style but feature Kevin Conroy's voice) in Mission Masters. They were all going to be in whatever that line was supposed to be.
