This is the talkback thread for Homer vs. Electronic Voting Machines in Upcoming "Simpsons" Episode; Groening in NYC (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=26417).

I still don't understand the partisan political machinery. If I were a Republican, I'd respond to this clip by saying only the Homer Simpsons of America are dumb enough to vote for Barack Obama, but smarter Americans know better. If I were a Democrat, I'd reverse that and say that even Homer Simpson can see through John McCain. Or any response that would relay that yes, even political partisans can have a sense of humor and are able to say things that are not pre-scripted in the talking points for the day. Hell, just say, "I don't think the Simpsons is as funny as it used to be, and this clip is proof."

The fact that he happened to vote for Obama seems pretty inconsequential. Come on, he had to pick somebody. I guess it nudges toward the 2000 election in terms of what the Republicans were accused of, but... You know what? It's just a cartoon.

I did find the bit in which he realizes the booth is rigged and says "Must..Tell..President..McCain!" pretty funny.

I just wonder if they're going to touch upon the 'Ralph Wiggum for President' episode from last season again.

I just wonder if they're going to touch upon the 'Ralph Wiggum for President' episode from last season again.

Despite the ambiguous ending, the schedule is already posted through Election Day, and there's no episode that will remotely touch upon the issue...

Nuts! If only Matt Groening were going to be in New York two weeks later, I could meet him in person!
