Does anyone know if CN will be doing something special for June Bugs this year? They already did the chronological order thing, so are they going to do the same thing again this year? It would be nice if CN played ALL of the Bugs cartoons for the first day, and then play all of the episodes of The Bugs Bunny Show, wouldn't it? ;)

I really wonder if they'll do June Bugs again this year. They didn't do a Big Game this year, and I doubt they'll do June Bugs this year, either. I just don't think CN cares about the classic toons anymore.
It would be wonderful if they ran all the Bugs Bunny Shows, but it would mean roughly a day of solid black and white programming (unless they can find the color negatives and press all new, restored, prints). CN would never run that much B&W programming.

Most of the bridging segments to "The Bugs Bunny Show" still exist in color, they just don't exist in color as complete shows, since they were cut up for use on the Saturday morning ABC and CBS shows in the late 1960s and 1970s.
Some segments of the show would have to be taken from the B&W negs and computer colorized to match the remaining color footage, which wouldn't be that big a problem if AOL Time Warner actually gave a damn about doing it (I'm sure there are people at CN who do; I'm talkng about the corporate bean counters in Atlanta, Burbank and New York).
The bigger problem would be that if you look at the roster of post-48 cartoons used on the show, there are a number that are not banned from anything but 3 a.m. airings on CN -- virtually all of the Speedy cartoons and any other Mexican characters, all of the Indian characters, Caveman Inki, etc.... To rerun the show (which I very much want them to do) would require Warners to either replace those cartoons while still maintaining the theme of that show or for CN to relax their censorship standards, since the one Jon posted on his site two years ago with Jose and Manuel as hosts would be impossible to air at all today under the current restrictions.

Yeah. I bet CN would just show a "Craptoon Craptoon" marathon instead.

I have some good news. June Bugs *is* still planned for this year. It is listed on a CN press release with all their upcoming events. Here's what it says for June Bugs.
JUNE BUGS: Tenth annual event celebrating cartoon's most loveable wabbit! Featuring every Bugs cartoon ever made - almost 300 shorts in a 48-hour marathon. Air Dates: May 31 - June 2
Funny how they are promoting the "Every short" thing again. Dooooooooooooooooon't you believe it! :p
They also have this planned:
LABOR DAY CLASSICS MARATHON: Cartoon Network is bringing back the classics like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Tom & Jerry in a full-day marathon on September 2nd. Air Dates: September 2

That's good to know. It still would've been nice to get The Bugs Bunny Show though. :(

Hiawatta's Rabbit Hunt and Frigid Hare might air on next year's June Bugs, but I doubt the rest will.

Bringing back the classics? Bugs, Daffy, Tom, Jerry, and the rest haven't left. Yet. I wonder if this means that by the time September rolls around, all of the classic cartoons will be gone from CN......
**Gulp.**

Well if most of the Bugs Bunny bridging sequences exist in color, and I know the opening still exists in color, they could play those, and play the actual cartoons during the show, since they have rights to all of them.

Lets not all forget about Jerry Beck's Toon Heads special, "Twelve Missing Hares" that Jerry is working on and after Cartoon Network screwed and lied to all of us last year (which I still haven't forgotten) that they "SHOULD" air every single Bugs Bunny cartoon ever made for this year's marathon.

Now that is slightly amazing. I figured it would be cancelled because everything else is.
As for the September marathon, I expect it to be cancelled just like the A-Z, unless, Mike's thought is correct...
