Actually, I used to get Anime Network on Demand, when I was subscribed to Bright House here in the Southeast, but they took it away once I switched to DirecTV. That wasn't an intentional result to stop receiving it. It's kind of a long story.

However, about AN On Demand, where I'm located, I've checked 9911 on my dial, and all it shows me is that stupid "Game Lounge" thing. Bah, I'd rather watch STATIC than use those kinds of channels. Such a waste of marketing power. I don't think DirecTV actually carries Anime Network on Demand, unfortunately. Not where I am anyway, so like I said before I probably can't help you...

When I had Bright House, I DID watch AN On Demand, and it was quite awesome. Sometimes I wish I still had it...That and Adult Swim on Demand.

Actually, Anime Network on Demand is available on DirecTV. However, according to their requirements (http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageNR.jsp?assetId=P4750018), you do need their HD DVR box and a high-speed internet connection to access their On Demand service.

I was totally unaware of that till you mentioned it. They never advertise the really good stuff, so I feel a bit left out...Anyway, I'll be sure to take a look...

Honestly, you're better off getting a Netflix account for the amount of money you'd need to get the hardware required to use this.

I have VoD through time warner, and the selection of series and episodes is pathetic.

Not only do they take weeks/months to update with new episodes, they rarely put anything new on there. It's like "hey do I wanna slog through episode 7-10 of Maburaho, or random episodes of crap like Loki Ragnarok or DNAngel?".

It's not even their top tier shows, and the episodes available are always weird.

Well, in AN's defense, they usually put the newer shows on their subscription-based VOD service first, which, unfortunately, Time Warner does not provide. That's why most of the stuff on the free VOD service are older shows and hand-me-downs from the subscription service.

That's pretty weak regardless, since the free VoD content still has advertisements to pay for it.

It's still not economical for the OP to spend all that money on a DirecTV HD DVR just for The Anime Network, and then a potential subscription fee for the non-free content.

10-15 bucks a month and you can watch whatever you want with Netflix, is all I'm saying.
