Cool. I don't want that many sequels, though. I liked Kung Fu Panda.

Wouldn't this be the third film? Since there's a Direct to DVD feature coming out along with the original film soon.

Well, going by theatrical films, this will be the second one.

Gosh Dreamworks is just crazy to agree to pump out 5 sequels

WOW.... they're pushing it. Making a franchise out of the terrific Shrek is understandable. Attempting to make one out of Madagascar is at least a valiant effort. But 5 films for Kung-Fu Panda?

I wouldn't count the 5 films thing as concrete just yet. Katzenburg said that he'd like to make 5 Kung Fu Panda movies, not that there would definitely be 5.
Of course, when the Suits in Hollywood get those dollar signs in their eyes, anything's possible.
Making a franchise out of the terrific Shrek is understandable.
The first Shrek was terrific; the second one was just trotted out to make some more cash, but it at least had its' moments. The third one was a total waste of time, as was that Christmas special. Shrek is a soulless shell of a franchise now; every new thing they do with Shrek screams, "We're only in it for the money!"

I didn't say that the Shrek franchise was terrific; I said that the first film was, and that the franchise was a good idea. On the part of Hollywood, it was; they've got to be about as rich as J.K. Rowling now.

I like Shrek 1 & 2 and the Christmas special. I also like the 3-D ride at Universal Studios. The only thing I was disappointed with was Shrek the Third.
As for Madagascar, I was not a fan.
I did like Kung Fu Panda and will be looking forward to the sequel.

What's too bad is that whenever DreamWorks ever actually makes a good film, they've gotta keep it going until they drive the quality into the ground.
