This is the talkback thread for FUNimation Announces New December Titles Including "Negima" (2006) (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=26358).

Should I try to find the Black Lagoon singles now or wait until the boxset? I really want to get into it, but don't know if I should hold out or blow it all anyway.

They're making us wait till next year for Third Voyage? Bah!

Air Gear box is nice a bit pricey though.

Nay for no One Piece, but yay for boxsets of NHK.

For $50, you might as well wait for FUNi to release the box. If you bought the singles are regular price, you'd end up paying about $10 more. Unless you found a special sale or something.

And still no Law of Ueki (sigh)

Come on FUNi, me and my anime club have been waiting for that boxset for just about ever since Geneon never finished the series

I find it irritating that FUNimation, RightStuf, or whomever keep referring to "Negima!?" as the second season of "Negima" when "Negima!" and "Negima!?" have nothing to do with each other beyond using the same characters.

I require One Piece. I hear TOEI dicates the release dates.

This is even slower than Viz's awful release of the edited DVDs but alas...

Where did you hear that?

This "let's blame TOEI for everything" attitude is getting ridiculously out of hand. If they want One Piece to be a hit, why in heaven's name would they want FUNimation to release the DVDs at a slower pace?

Thank you, FUNi, for not releasing anything in December that I want because I'll be broke from buying Christmas presents (or just broke in general, which is the current and most likely scenario).

Hmm. Black Lagoon has always been tempting me, and having read vol. 1 of the manga has made me want it even more. And, the box set is coming on the day before my birthday! Must. Tell. Parents. And. Brother. What. To give me....

Also, if you have a HD setup, Funimation is also releasing Samurai 7 (the whole thing) on Blu-ray on Dec. 9.

Mushishi boxset? Hell yes.

Hopefully the art is just as good as it was on the singles, because dang if that didn't make it tempting.

You know how the rumormill is. I think it was from a post on AP about something a FUNi guy said, can't say I remember too well.

I also think that its a shame that they're not releasing One Piece Third Voyage until next year, especially with how Second Voyage is going for me, but I can wait. They probably want to keep the release dates like this until the DVD sets have more of an established buyer base. Even if that's not the case, I'll be content with waiting for the sets to come out. I'm not sure if there's anything on the list that I would at the moment though. Still, I have plenty of DVDs to watch in the meantime.

I think what's been the most frustrating thing about these sets so far is that they have each ended in the middle of an arc. First Voyage ended before the Kuro arc concluded, Second Voyage ended before the Baratie arc concluded, and Third Voyage will end before the Arlong arc concludes. Fourth Voyage should be the first set where it ends with the conclusion of an arc, which will be Logue Town.

Boo for not putting out the last two NHK discs. I'll wait til a RightStuf clearance sale to pick up the rest now and/or the inevitable Funimation Veridian/Green version that'll come out a year or so from now. If I'm spending money to finish the show in a way other than wrapping up my singles, I'll do it in a way that either costs dramatically less than list (at 30 I might bite,) or that nets me the whole show in a very conveniently sized box.

Never got passed voulme 1 of NHK, but I saw it all ages ago. Wanted more volumes, never found past volume 1, so a box set is PERFECT for me. And yay, the GOOD Negima is getting a horrid dub I'm not going to watch. but it DOES mean I get to buy it on DVD. Never Black Lagoon, but want it, so yay. Air Gear is in the same boat as NHK for me, minus the fansubs, so yay, more of that too. And Tsubasa and part 2 of season 2 of School Rumble.

Hence why I called the 2006 version the second adaption, instead of a sequel (which, as you said, it isn't).

While we're on the subject, does anybody know if this boxset of Mushishi is a thinpak release?

I'm assuming it has the same cast as the first series. Most shows, the dubs are OK, it's just one or two voices that ruins it for me. Like NHK, Satou and Misaki were decent voices, but Yamizaki was terrible. With Negima!, EVERY VOICE bothered me, the SCRIPT bothered me. And the first series wasn't that great to begin with. If this one has the same cast, then I know it's gonna be terrible.

That's a good point. I think they're doing that possibly to get more people interested in buying the next set if it ends on a cliffhanger. Of course, the fact that if they put much more than thirteen episodes in the sets will increase the prices would also be a huge factor as well. I felt a bit upset with having to wait for the end of the Kuro arc with Second Voyage, but I don't think the cliffhanger for the Baratie arc was as intense as the cliffhanger for that arc. Of course, that might be just me.

All you need to do is look at the first series' dub and its automatically horrid... I lost 90% of my Greg Ayres fandom with his Negi.

Anyways, I'll be getting:
- Claymore #2
- NHK Set #1 and #2
- Red Garden Set #1 and #2
- Higurashi #6 (yay for completion of Season 1!)
- School Rumble 2nd Term Set #2

I might get Save Me! Lollipop Set and Negima!? Set #1 much later down the road, they hold no real priority.

I actually have to agre with him, the first Negima series had a pretty bad dub, especially Ayres Negima and if the voices are not mu8ch better this time around it would be just as bad.

Don't reward Funimation for it's bad behaviour. Buy used.

Yeah, and I appreciate that. I did some looking and it is a FUNimation thing. I had to rant about it some more on my blog (http://astronerdboy.blogspot.com/2008/09/negima-is-not-season-2.html).

Didn't realize Negima! was getting a new release. I sold my individuals, but have yet to buy the previous box, so I think I'll just wait for that one.

I may dislike the show itself, but I'm Ken Akamatsu's whore.
