Since Now and Then, Here and There is over, we have another show making its debut on Ani-Monday. This time, its the Central Park Media staple, M.D. Geist. CPM used Geist as their logo for their anime label, U.S. Manga Corps. The popularity of the title caused CPM to work with the co-creator of M.D. Geist to work on a sequel. However tonight, the first one airs at midnight.

Is this show serious or "so bad, it's funny"?

After seeing that guy get split in half, I was expecting some gruesome stuff.

Imagine my surprise as a guy appears with a "so bad, it's funny" smile followed by text (in fact, there are too many text screens) with a pink background with a cheesy song that sounds like something I heard from "The Karate Kid".

And some of this dialogue is so terrible. "Shut ... up". And the blond guy sounds like Jesse Ventura.

What is going on?

Man, why cant there be more anime like this, blood/violence, abuse women, corny sections of dubbing and mech robots along with a world rampaged in war and an ex soldier being the main protagonist, this anime has it all. I can see why CPM had this guy as their spokes person/mascot, hes just to bad to mess with.

Ive heard of this anime for quite some time, and i was pretty stoaked to hear it was on Ani Monday. Im just a good ol fan of the 1980's/1990's anime, theres nothing quite like it.

Yea, good thing i recorded this, cant wait till next week...

Well it doesn't have the cheesy 80's music and the acting is better, but it's still pretty bad.

So I was expecting this machine to scan for lifeforms and eliminate them. Instead we get a dozen insect mecha. Is this Blue Gender now? Wouldn't it save time and money to put a weapon on that first robot?

Funniest moment so far: Geist walking away from the freaked out survivor as he's YELLING the plot as fast as he can before the opening song starts.

Awful lines so far:

"Watch where you're going; watch in front of us"
"huh gotcha" (with no pause in between)

There's a sequence where a man is operating a computer and it's full of beeps. There are more beeps than images on the comp. screen.

And this captured guy in the suit sounds like a slowed down Jesse Ventura. And it wouldn't be a tense moment without someone saying "I've got a bad feeling about this". You warn em, Jesse.

This show is so "red-iculous".

Krauser was flawed, but you could at least emphathize with him a little, and that made Part II more bearable.

Hey, as a member of the Eltingville Club once said "Show me the body. No body, no death. Just like Freddy Kruger..." and a few others names i dont remember. So, theres a good chance hes alive.

So, since Geist is basicly a total barbarian, hes definetly alive. Thats my POV of the ending, and ill stick to it.

Wow, that made Ani Monday so worth watching. I guess next week that Striet Jacket will awesome too, probably nowhere near as awesome as Geist was.

And before we end the show, they just have to show the crazy woman in her cell with the opening shot from an upskirt level (as if this show isn't degrading enough). This time they have her chanting "open-up-the-door, open-up-the-door, I-don't-wanna-die-in-here".

I haven't laughed so much at reaction shots since the 4Kids dub of One Piece. If you go through it, you could hear crowd shots in different octives. Even one of the children has his own scene reacting - was it because of the random explosion or the speech Geist gave without opening his mouth?

I was honestly more entertained watching MD Geist than during any of Adult Swim's new comedy shows ... COMBINED.

How did the kid even get there in the first place? Also how did Vaiya manage to escape Geist from the first chapter? Man, this show doesn't make a lot of sense, but then I don't really expect that from a lot of 80s gore fests.

Speaking of 80s gore series with macho characters in a Mad Max kind of world, any chance of SciFi getting the rights to Fist of the North Star? I tried renting it from Blockbuster online, but they don't have it anymore. At least it has some English voices I recognize.

He was kinda like "Yea, i know its not the worse anime in the world, but its pretty bad." So its one of those anime that if you find it for a dollar on VHS and you had to spend a dollar on crap, that would be worth it.

Thats kinda like me and getting Angel Cop collection in my "buy random cheap anime just to see what its about". I really like Angel Cop, even the Dub. I just... like Angel Cop, like Geist (i think everyone knows that by now).

And i take it Koichi Ohata is like the Uwe Boll of old school anime. Now that Geist has gotten my attention, i wonder if Sci Fi will show some other of Ohata works like, Genocyber...?
