Who actually remembers and/or cares about this show? I loved watching this show, too bad it got cancelled from lack of ratings...I think.

I’m sorry, but I could never get into this series. I’m usually easily entertained, but all of the characters behaved in such a serious manner and it really got on my nerves, considering the nature of the plot. They’re in school dealing with petty issues; they shouldn’t be treating everything like it’s a matter of life and death.

I love Fillmore
The whole cross between the 70s cop show with a junior high setting was excellent to me

It's one of those shows I'll watch whenever I see it listed on the schedule

I remember watching Fillmore a couple of times. It wasn't a bad show or anything like that. I just couldn't get that much into it. It might have been because of how I didn't really think the issues they were dealing with at a junior high school were as serious as they were making it look like.

I just thought of this as CSI in school setting. I just laughed at how they took everything way too seriously though. Then again the time I started to watch it was when Toon Disney started to a part of my Cable package, and becoming a fan of Case Closed/Detective Conan.

I actually did enjoy that show. It had an interesting premise.

It was way too frustrating to watch... and why couldn't somebody just deep-fat fry that darned lobster

I saw a few episodes of Filmore!. The idea of a school detective show done entirely in the manner of a 1970s cop show was interesting, but the novelty wears thin after a while. Both Filmore himself and Ingrid Third would almost always speak in Joe Friday-esque deadpan. Plus, there weren't any characters to care about, only caricatures. Filmore! might have worked as a fun special, but not as an endless series.

I remember this show. I only saw it a few times, but I never got into it.

I can't believe what I'm reading: 'The issues weren't as serious as the show made them look'.

Have the films of Friedberg/Seltzer so debased the genre of parody that people can't identify a good one when it comes along?

"Fillmore!" is, bar none, Disney's finest cartoon series. The riffing on 70s cop shows was just inspired. I surmise that you'd have to have a vague knowledge of what this show was paying homage to to really enjoy it. The writing (from veterans of "Pepper Ann") was quirky (way more so than on the earlier series) and sharp and the cast was terrific. Pity it's not shown more often these days.

Going to have to agree with Lonestarr here. You'd have to have a good understanding of what Fillmore is parodying to appreciate it. Also, I thought the fact that they treated such petty issues so seriously just added to the hilarity and quality of the show.

As I have written elsewhere, I don't see Fillmore as much as a parody but rather a homage to the 70's cop shows, mostly the Quinn Martin family of series, that we all grew up with.

That's the funny part!

It's supposed to be humorous that the kids are treating all the petty stuff so serious. It's making fun of '70s cop shows as others have said. But it's also making fun of junior high school (or middle school, or whatever you want to call it). Junior high kids tend to take themselves way too seriously anyway. They always think the little things in their lives are a matter of life and death. So, Fillmore just pushed it over the top.

I liked how it played itself out like those old Quinn Martin cop shows -- Cannon, Barnaby Jones, Streets of San Francisco -- with corny titles, then "Act I" slates and the usually unfunny attempt at humor in the Epilogue.

I really liked this show too, it was so unusual. Sadly, perhaps it's not a surprise that the show didn't last too long.

Some really obscure cultural references too, at least for a kid's show. A character based on one of my all-time favourite TV characters, Millennium's Frank Black, really made my day.

I'll agree that Fillmore was a very under rated series. But I think calling it Disney's finest series is a bit of a stretch. I think that title belongs Gargoyles IMO. The amount of episodes that it aired also kept Fillmore from reaching higher status.
I agree that part of Fillmore's charm was the fact that they took the junior high situations more seriously than they actually were. On the other hand I do somewhat agree with Blackstar's opinion on the novelty somewhat wearing a little thin after awhile, and that there were only two characters who didn't feel like caricatures (the main characters).
But other than that it's a forgetten gem amongst Disney's Animated shows.
