View Full Version : Didja ever notice.....
.....that there's the exact same rotoscoped dance sequence in "September in the Rain" that there is in "Malibu Beach Party"?
I was just watching a tape of rarely-seen WB cartoons tonight and noticed that.
BTW, anyone know the last time "Malibu Beach Party" was shown on TV?

Speaking of which, did anybody notice that in SHOW BIZ BUGS, when Daffy is doing the tap dancing routine to the song "Jeepers Creepers" that was the exact same animation used in PERSON TO BUNNY when Daffy tap-dances?
BTW, the last time MBP was shown on TV was on CN sometime in October of 2000 during a late-night Acme Hour.

And the "Carissima" number performed by the Deena Durbin characture in "Malibu Beach Party" was used again by Freleng in "Back Alley Oproar" though in the first case, it was played straight while in the latter, it was done strictly for laughs and eanred a rifle barrel in the noggin for the singer (though it would have been hysterical if Benny had done that to Deena in the first cartoon so he could get on with his violin playing).
Friz was always the master of comedy on the cheap, and probably remembered the "September in the Rain" number for use in "Malibu." Getting the cartoons done on a low budget and making them successful is one of the things that endeared Freleng to Leon.

When "Malibu Beach Party" aired on CN in 2000, it also had it's A.A.P. logo intact, as well as "Russian Rhapsody".
