I watch a lot of Comedy Central, esp. on Friday nights when they have all stand-up. If you like stand-up comedy like I do, why don't you post a couple of your favs.
Here are my top picks:
Greg Giraldo
Greg Fitzsimmons
Dave Attell

I wish I more knowledgeable in this field since you respond to my topics. I'll say Dave Attel. He also hosts a show on Comedy Central

I love Fridays and Sundays when Comedy Central shows nothing but standup after standup. Let me try to think of some good comedians.
David Cross
Richard Jeni
Mark Marron
Lewis Black
Louis C.K.
Dom Irrera
The old Paula Poundstone ones are good. Then there are big acts like George Carlin and Chris Rock, which are of course a given. And there are some low brow characters, like The Amazing Jonathan, who are great for kicks.

Eddie Izzard.
The funniest stand up I've ever seen. Worth watching any performaces except 'The Avengers'. Please don't watch that film - even for Eddie...
Paul Merton.
UK comic - very amusing. Again same sort of bizarre abstract humour. Brilliant.

Steven Wright
Tim Allen
Louie Anderson
Emo Phillips
Jerry Seinfeld
George Carlin
I know most of those aren't doing stand up anymore, but I haven't kept up much on the newer standup comedians, so I am sticking with old favorites.

Arg... can't remember their names....one looks like a hippie from LA who did too much acid...talks about Ritz crackers, cerebral adornments, and giving false hope by lighting cinnamon incense.
The other is a Russian immigrant's daughter who talked about how wonderful our playgrounds are and about her mother that was regretful she came home everyday. She had really short black hair and was stick thin....Help!

I'm not posting anyone new, but I really like Dave Attell and Lewis Black.
I also saw a really heavyset comic on Jay Leno once, but I can't remember his name. :( He talked about how he hates skinny people at all-you-can-eat buffets. He said the secret is just to grab and find out what you got when you sit back down. :)

Jay Leno was a real good stand up comic back in his starting out days. I don't think he is as funny now that he's got all these people writing for him, but his early stuff was incredible.

George Carlin
Gallager
Jeff Foxworthy
That's all you need to know.

There are a lot of stand-up comics that I like, but I normally can never remember any of their names! Two whom I do remember their names, and like a lot are Greg Proops, and the totally awesome Margaret Cho.

I don't know if any of you watch Adult Swim on Cartoon Network Sunday nights, but David Cross, Emo Phillips and Mitch Hedeberg have all lent their voices to an episode or two. Also, most of these people, at one time or another, appeared on Dr, Katz: Professional Therapist (incidentally, where I first developed my unhealthy love for stand-up comedy). If you like really "old school"-type stuff, the original stand-up acts of both Andy Griffith and Bob Newhart were hilarious.
Here's a couple of favorites that I forgot:
Mark Maron
Richard Belzer
Rosanne (sorry, but she's funny  )

Bob Newhart is VERY FUNNY. I love his work. And Roseann is another one I would add to this list "Used to be funny." Like Leno, when she was doing her own standup routine, she was really good. And Whoopi Goldberg was pretty funny for a little while when she started out in stand up, also.

The phone call stuff he does is hilarious!!!
I don't know if you all have seen him, but Nick Swardson (Comedy Central Presents) is way past hilarious. He does this thing were he talks like his "gramma" and I was rolling...
POST 1400! Woohoo...wait, does it really matter anymore? :p

What do white people have to complain about? Are they out of khakis at the Bannana Republic?
That's not an exact quote, but anyway, George Carlin is the man. I also like Chris Rock, and I love Bernie Mac!

The best current stand-up comic is Mitch Hedberg. Paula Poundstone is also great. Before Home Movies I thought they would be great as voice-actors for cartoons.
These ones have been going so long I don't know if they are still doing stand-up:
Bill Cosby
Dana Carvey
Chris Rock (although he said no one in India is lactose intolerent, despite the fact that the majority of Asia is lactose intolerent)
Jerry Seinfield

Henry Rollins
Bill Cosby
